ARCHIVED Are You "self Diagnosed"?
krystynycole replied to BrittLoves2Run's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am self diagnosed for the sole reason I was not aware of how the blood test having false negative issues and also that I needed to be on gluten for good biopsy/blood work results. My GI was not very help with this information. My general practitioner was more informative when I went to him still complaining of issues and said it was worth a shot to stay... -
I know someone already posted about a great low cal cookbook today, but I wanted to get a variety of ideas...I find multiple cookbooks sparks more ideas!! So here's what I'm look for: low cal, gluten-free, without a lot of sea food recipes (I can't stand the taste of smell, much to husband's disagreement! I tell him this is what restaurants are for...

How wonderful of you to post this! It's like you are a mind reader. I was going to post to see if anyone had any suggestions for gluten-free and low calorie books. Just one questions...does it have a lot of fish recipes in it? I detest the taste of sea food and I find a lot of gluten-free cookbooks have a lot of seafood recipes in them. Thanks!

ARCHIVED Red Meat And Grease
krystynycole replied to krystynycole's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No it's not. Good idea though. Thanks. -
I've been gluten free for just over a year now and I have noticed in the past couple of months that when I eat red meat or food that is greasy I have to run to the bathroom with the big D. This happens when I have things that are only kind of greasy as well, not just fried things. I have drained meat excessively trying to get it all out and still no relief...

ARCHIVED Still Symptomatic After 6 Months Of gluten-free Diet?
krystynycole replied to DanPatch's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You could be healing from your stomach acid damage. I have a herniated esophagus and am on acid reducers for it. I had a lot of damage from the over production of acid/heart burn. I had a lot of pain for about 4 months after just healing up. I noticed it more when I was on the meds because my heart burn was gone. Just a thought... -

ARCHIVED Fav From Whole Foods?
krystynycole replied to amcouch's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I asked this same question and follow the link to see the ideas people gave me! -
I have heard the samething. Its really just such a high risk of cc due to all the bread products and the flour in the air that it just is not in their best interest for them to say it's gluten free. The Panera by my house has a book that lists ingredients for each item on the list along with all the nutrition info similar to what would be on the label...

krystynycole replied to allergyprone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Too much potassium can do funny things to people. Many people report tingling sensations, numbness, increased heart rate, chest pains, nausea, diarrhea and many others. Another thought...is there cc with latex? do people who wear gloves at your school use latex gloves when handling foods? Could you be that sensational that it would bother you? Not all... -

krystynycole replied to donteatSAD's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you thought about casein? Many celiacs cannot have casein either. Also, some people cannot have nightshades or corn either. Corn is in EVERYTHING just like gluten. It is even on many fruits. -

ARCHIVED Undiagnosed And Still Sick... Could This Be Celiac?
krystynycole replied to SilverClaerity's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
DO NOT GO GLUTEN FREE!! It will skew your tests and you may get a false negative. You need as many antibodies in your body as you possibly can for testing. If you stop eating gluten, you stop producing antibodies. WAIT!!!! -
ARCHIVED How Can Ya Manage School Lunch?
krystynycole replied to Gimpwithacause's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I typically bring left overs because it's quick, easy, and cheap...however I have access to a microwave so this is helpful. If you need ideas go to the search bar and search for "lunch" there are tons of pages like this question with tons of ideas. I just did this search and here's one page https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/12526-lunch-choices/ Hope... -
Just a word of advice...you have to have gluten in your system for a month or more to get an accurate reading. Just a week or two would give you an invalid test. It takes awhile. Also, there are a lot of false negatives. Hope you find some answers! It's miserable not know what is wrong with yourself.
