  1. I'm homeschooled, this is my church youth group. unfortunately, I'll still be around them after I graduate. Thanks for the encouragement guys
  2. I went to my senior banquet last night and ate PF Changs since the restaurant we were at did not have anything gluten free. You know how they put those little orange "gluten free" stickers on the containers? Well some of the girls (this was with my youth group) insisted that I put the sticker on my face and take a picture like that. For some reason it...
  3. Uh oh I used finger paints with a kid I was babysitting today and there was an explosion, it went everywhere! Now I hope it was gluten free....didn't even think about it:P
  4. Not every thing published is true.....if you're at wits end and can spend $100 to take this easy test, I don't see what's the big deal. It makes the elimination process easier. It worked for me. everyone I know personally who did this feel better from following the results of this test and I've found it quite reliable!
  5. It doesn't matter if you eat the food or not, what they do is introduce the food to your blood and watch the reaction. And celiac disease is not an allergy or intolerance (although it's placed under the category of gluten intolerance), so a wheat allergy showing or not showing on the test is irrelevant. If you are already avoiding wheat, it won't effect the...
  6. I have found that not all the drugs on that list are actually gluten free. Better to check with the manufacturer to be safe! Get well soon!
  7. I've been both overweight and underweight. I must say, I liked being skinny and fitting into cute clothes, and being able to eat as much as I want without gaining weight. I hate being overweight and not fitting into very much, wishing I was back in the skinny body. No matter how hard I try, I can't lose weight. In my opinion, it was way better to be underweight...
  8. Oh, I was told it was an allergy and not an intolerance. And I was told allergies can manifest themselves through upset stomachs and headaches(which is what I have) not just hives or swelled up throat. Is this true? sorry, all the terms confuse me lol!
  9. I got results of a IgG test today which said I am allergic to dairy, including casein, whey, and goats milk. My questions are: -things that say "dairy free", does that include goat milk free? How can I know if something has goats milk in it? - the doctor also suggested I go organic....I am very sensitive to lots of things. Does eating organic seem to...
  10. Ok I got my results in. It was higGh on all dairy-casein, whey, everything. Also on goats milk. Slightly high on a couple fruits but I'm allergic to fruit so avoid them anyway. I will try avoiding all dairy ( including products with "may contain traces of milk " statements"). My blood tests showed I'm anemic and low in B12, and VERY low in vitamin D. Will...
  11. I'm a teenager and I understand that it's hard to bring your own food with you for everything you do with your friends. But her health should be more important to you than her having friends. Getting celiac has shown me who my TRUE friends are! And now, gluten free cakes that I hated before, now taste normal to me. If you don't make abig deal out of it then...
  12. Well, you will need to be on gluten for your endoscopy to be profitable. If you're eating gluten free, no reason to have an endo cuz it will be negative for celiac just a side note haha!
  13. Yes it is a naturopath who suggested it. Well, hopefully I can get some answers from it even if all the results aren't accurate. I'll find out on Friday what the results are.
  14. I would feel uncomfortable eating at any restaurant unless it has a good reputation for gluten free cooking, such as PF Changs does here. Buy some fresh fruit to carry around with you. GoPicnics have many gluten free options and those were my lifesaver when i traveled to Africa, as they don't have to be refrigerated or heated up. Buy some potatoes when you...
  15. Thank you all for your responses! That was very helpful! I've had allergy testing of the skin. Wasn't allergic to any food except fruits. Waiting back for my blood test on the 96 foods. Is there a blood test for intolerances/sensitivities? I don't have any actual allergic reactions to anything( except fruit) so since they are doing this 96 food allergy test...
  16. So my question is, what is the difference between: Food allergies Food sensitivities Food intolerances And how are you diagnosed with each of those, and how can you diagnose yourself with them?
  17. Before I was diagnosed, I would be sick for 3 months and then feel ok for maybe a week( those were the best weeks of my life, that was when I remembered what it felt like to feel normal) but then sure enough the next couple weeks passed and BOOM back to being sick. That went on for five years before I was diagnosed. I can't eI plain why that happens to a...
  18. Don't freak out it will only make things worse! Take a deep breath! Getting something on your lip/in your mouth could gluten you if it has gluten in it. As for the cookie being thrown at you...unless you catch the cookie then lick your hand, you will be ok:) I understand that it makes you nervous, i get quite worried a lot too. To the best of my knowledge...
  19. Some people like to think they know everything but really are ignorant when it comes to food issues. Either they like being so vocallly rude about people because they're cold hearted or because they feel like they need to make themselves look better because they are insecure about something in their life. I have to deal with these kind of people too.... I...
  20. I didn't like them AT ALL....try the Ball Brothers!
  21. I feel bloated a lot in my face and abdomen, sometimes my hands. When I did a no-sugar challenge for a week, within the first two days I lost 5 pounds of water weight. Maybe you could try eliminating sugar completely for a few days?
  22. I have oral allergy syndrome and am allergic to mostly all fruits all year round. Cooking the fruit doesn't make a difference for me. I also have a friend who has oral allergy syndrome and she can't have fruits or vegetables. My guess is that you have that! No real way to test for it except a skin prick to see if you are allergic to trees. Which you said...
  23. I had a reaction the other day with eggs, got upset stomach and super itchy rash. Hope you find out if you're intolerant to them or not. I just got tested.
  24. Their kitchen does not have anything separate for cooking the gluten-free food. Counters, ovens, utensils, pans. Even probably AIR is not separate...( think about the flour flying around while making pizza....if you can't picture it, go to a pizza place and watch! ) the food would almost definitely be cross contaminated. No way im eating there.
