ARCHIVED New To gluten-free And Worried About Calories!
GlutenGladi8or replied to jo-marnes's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Anything with protein is a good way to fill yourself up in the morning and add some anti-oxidant berries (blueberries or blackberries). If you opt for all natural or Greek yogurt (low fat or non fat), you'll get 20grams of protein per serving AND the antioxidants from the fruit. It should take you 20 seconds to dollop a large spoonful into a bowl, another... -

I personally think so, and it actually has worked for me. In fact, 50% of my plate it typically LEAN protein (in the lower single digit fat range): - Egg whites - Lean all natural turkey breast - Grilled fish - Pork Tenderloin (grilled) - Chicken/Turkey breast - Flank steak - Chicken sausages (all natural) Everybody is different, but I have tried... -

Great advice. And in my opinion, you should have your doctor run a blood test twice a year. It's nearly crazy how many things they can determine and the snapshot it provides. Most insurance plans cover this, but ask just to make sure. -

By a quick glance, I think we need to "sneak" a little more protein into your diet and eliminate a small portion of the carbs. * Instead of the morning organic cereal, opt for Fat Free Greek yogurt with berries (20grams of protein per serving. I personally like FAGE brand) * Go from 2 hard boiled eggs to 3, but toss the yolks and eat just the whites... -

Luckily, I put on quite a bit of muscle about 6 months after my diagnosis 2 years ago. But that was a function of a bunch of different things. First of all, I was working full time at a vegetarian company and probably not getting the proper amount of protein. The good news was that ALL of the food was free from my employer, it just wasn't high in protein... -
ARCHIVED Problem Going gluten-free

CLARIFICATION: Easier to travel in and out of airports for those of us who don't check luggage and are frequent flyers. Liquids are difficult unless they are less than 3 ounces. But, at home they are good. Regardless, keep taking that fish oil in ALL forms folks. SO good for you and plenty of research to substantiate that. -

Great news. Check with the ND and see if he can suggest a fish oil capsule (preferably triple distilled). They are SO much easier to take and you don't need a spoon. Plus, they are much more mobile and you can take them to work, the gym, out of town. Also ask him if he thinks you need a fiber supplement as well. Continue to keep us posted. -

You'll feel like a Goddess if you eat Greek yogurt. LOL In all seriousness, it has been filtered out in a cloth or paper bag or filter, traditionally made of muslin, to remove the whey, giving a body between that of yogurt and cheese, while preserving yogurt's characteristic sour taste sensation. Like many yogurts, strained yogurt is often times made from... -

First off, I used to be the Director of Marketing for a VERY large vegetarian company. So, I can probably help you out on that front. Although I am quite carniverous! The first thing I see missing is a REALLY good source of vegetarian protein. You're probably getting a little bit in the nuts and yogurt, but you probably need more. A few considerations... -

A bad experience is.... well... bad. But when someone (or corporation) fumbles, it's good that there are SO many passionate Celiacs who take the time to write to the company or even speak to the manager. It gives them an opportunity to improve. In fact, I can guarantee that the plate/shape policy for all Gluten Free items was a result from a number of... -

I was GLUTENED horribly by the Manhattan Beach, CA location about a year ago. I wrote them a letter just after, but haven't been back yet. I think that corporate cares about us Celiacs, but the servers are uneducated about what gluten does to us. -

Go to the more upscale buffets especially for lunch (cheaper than dinner per person). I'm not sure if you're a seafood lover or carnivore, but us Celiacs can THRIVE at these! Tons of salad bar items, roast beef, roasted pork, seafood, turkey breast, chicken breast, etc. Just watch out for the sides. And, many of the signs on the buffet will clearly... -

This is SPOT on advice in terms of the foods that you should be eating. And, yes, before and after. Secondly, you probably should take a rest between each day of weights and work multiple muscle groups. Let your body recover (as that is when you are building muscle) Here's and example of a typical week: Monday: Back & Bi's Tues: Cardio &... -

Costco has a bag of frozen fire roasted corn kernels. This past Saturday, we simply heated on the stove at a low temperature, added the juice of 2 limes, dash of sea salt and then hot sauce. So tasty! Although your recipe sounds even more delicious. I'll try it this weekend. -

You can bring fresh fruit on the plane as long as you consume all of it prior to going through customs in Frankfurt. Get those zip lock baggies out and start stuffing them with fresh cut up produce for the flight. Put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes right before you leave for the airport and they will be extra chilled. Take a pack of all natural... -

Before I make some recommendations, what are your stats: - Age - Height - Current Weight - M or F Just want to get my arms around this.
