ARCHIVED Constant Hunger After Some Hard Workouts
GlutenGladi8or replied to rain's topic in Sports and Fitness
Do the board a few other favors and we may be able to help you. What are your stats (height, weight, age, gender)? What does your typical day of food look like? (Be VERY specific including the portion sizes that you are eating.) What time of the day are you working out? How long are your workouts vs. cardio? Fill in a few of those blanks and we can... -

Pure and simple the above is the answer. If you have can, opt for all natural/organic proteins. And, by all means, the leaner the better: - Low fat/Non Fat Yogurt - Lean turkey breast - Fish - Low fat chicken sausages - Pork tenderloin - LF cottage cheese - Egg whites You'll get back up there! -

Have you tried chicken sausages for breakfast? Yes, I know they look like bratwurst and you would equate that with lunch, dinner, or a grill out. But, they have less than 10 grams of fat per BIG link, are gluten free, pre-cooked, and high in protein. If you buy the ones at Sam's Club, Costco or Trader Joe's they are even all natural. Here's the trick... -
ARCHIVED Is There Possibly Anything Dairy Free At Baskin Robbins?
GlutenGladi8or replied to runningcrazy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Always look for a sorbet and not sherbet. They are composed of just fruit juices and sugar. While we are on the subject, opt for cane sugar or just regular sugar. RUN from those sorbets that are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. -
I take a protein powder that has added BCAA (Branch Chain Amino Acids). No issued whatsoever. Just make sure you read the label an call the 800# on the package if you still have questions. Go for it.

ARCHIVED Bueno Coffee (Substitute)
GlutenGladi8or replied to starrytrekchic's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For Celiacs.... Bueno Coffee es Malo Coffee -
Take EVERYONE's advice above. All are good options. What are BAD options are gatorade-type "recovery drinks" loaded with High Fructose Corn Syrup. Steer away from HFCS as fast as you steer away from a pothole while riding.

ARCHIVED Coffee Causing Gluten Like Symptoms
GlutenGladi8or replied to GlutenGladi8or's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm happy to report that I've been on only green tea for 48 hours and all of the gluten like symptoms have subsided. Well, okay..... maybe two false alarm dashes to the bathroom, but we've all been there haven't we? It's just strange that I've been a coffee drinker my whole life and now this happens. I won't be drinking coffee and I make that statement... -

ARCHIVED Coffee Causing Gluten Like Symptoms
GlutenGladi8or replied to GlutenGladi8or's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hmmm I never thought about it being from the via pack. And, I've been traveling extensively in the last week. WHEN I travel, I take a dozen via packets with me. And, I've been on the road for the last week. Yesterday was a really bad day (as was the last week). I had my last Via at approximately 11am yesterday morning. This morning, was a little bad... -
ARCHIVED Coffee Causing Gluten Like Symptoms
GlutenGladi8or replied to GlutenGladi8or's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I never had an issue with coffee until recently. In fact, I was a swimmer in high school and I used to drink it before morning practice when I was only 15 or so. And, I have been drinking the Via packages as well. Looks like is sayonara coffee for awhile. No big deal. I have a 100 pack of green tea in my office and at home. -
ARCHIVED Coffee Causing Gluten Like Symptoms
GlutenGladi8or posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anybody else have problems with coffee? Causing diuretic type issues? I had some issues this past week, that seemed like the old gluten days and I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be coffee. I have since cut out the coffee and am sticking with just green tea. Anybody else have these issue? -
Jane's Krazy Salt
GlutenGladi8or replied to jksoundman's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are only 4 ingredients in Jane's Krazy Mixed Up Salt: Salt, Herbs/Spices, dehydrated onion, dehydrated garlic. Y'all are good to go! Why do I have a 9.5 ounce shaker in my cabinet at all times? Because it's great in eggs, on meats, and especially POPCORN. Have a good weekend everyone (PS - I heard it's also especially good in a gluten... -

I have actually been in the organic and all natural food business for over 15 years. And I have to give credit where credit is due -- to my VERY good friend who is a buyer for one of the nation's largest retailers. When the doctors misdiagnosed me for over a year, HE was the one who suggested that I cut the gluten. What a savior. You are right, most... -

What a great post. Thank you for sharing that story with all of us. We have all been there before (no energy, embarrassment, the mood swings, hair/skin issues, shedding of lean body mass). Luckily we figured out that gluten was our enemy. Guess what? The days are going to get EVEN better with time. Your treadmill runs will get easier and longer. If... -

Usually I have a beef (pun intended) with many folks diets that are low in protein. But, you seem to have yours in check AND with lean meats (very smart). Watch out for wings as they are F-A-T-T-Y usually. I'm with the other poster though -- that you need more leafy greens/veggies/fresh fruit. Those will do wonders for your diet and metabolism. And... -

If you have time (sounds like you're busy, and I waited tables for decades as my parents are in the restaurant business), try and list what you eat in a typical day and I'll give you more guidance there. Start with what you eat first thing in the morning, all snacks, and all beverages. We're all here to give you support. -

ARCHIVED Whatcha Eating Today Celiacs?

I'm going to sound like one of my Nuns from Catholic Grade School, but where are those fresh/steamed/frozen vegetables? To start incorporating, drop one of your carbs (pancake, butterfinger,or bagel) and switch to a veggie. Or try a piece of fresh fruit. -

Try grilling a whole beef flank steak (trimmed of all fat) the night before on the grill. Use a dash of Montreal Steak Seasoning (it's gluten free). Once it's grilled, cut it into strips and refrigerate. The next day you'll have finger food or even something for a salad. Don't get me wrong... I like chicken strips as a snack, but beef flank steak (cold... -

I love your thinking. It's been decades since I have been a Boy Scout, but the motto was "Be Prepared". When you think about your meals beforehand, it's makes nutritious meals/snacks easier and less stressful as well. The above is brilliant! And what a great medley of fruit, carbs, and healthy/lean protein. (PS - How Nerdy am I that I have a flight...
