  1. Many people have a milk intolerance, and luckily I do not. Therefore, my choice is a Whey Protein Isolate. Try and find a protein powder that has BCAA (Branch Chain Amino Acids) in it as well. Believe, me I just got back from an All Natural & Organic trade show and there were dozens of vendors who had exceptional items. Just make sure that they don...
  2. I think everyone can benefit from fish oil... no matter what age. Here's what I would do, go to a reputable retailer that actually has a staff that's knowledgeable. You would be surprised how much these people know. Budget about 20 minutes (and they really will spend that much time with you). Bring a piece of paper and get ready to take notes. Tell...
  3. I worked at three different addresses on North Michigan avenue back in my advertising agency days. If you are a carnivore like I am.... and thrive on the fact that meat is Gluten Free baby.... then you are in for some real food: - Sullivan's on Dearborne - Gene & Georgetti's on Franklin - Wildfire on West Erie (Bone in pork chop) - Chicago...
  4. Since we are on the roll of misinterpretations in advertising, I thought you would like this TRUE story. I actually worked on the advertising team that created the tagline "Pork. The Other White Meat". NO, I'm not the guy who came up with it, but I do know who it was. Anyway, "The Other White Meat" was the national campaign. Every once in awhile a...
  5. I absolutely agree with you. I just think they need some coaching in terms of how WE Celiacs read things. It's almost like saying "At ValueJet, our planes don't crash 99.98% of the time" I'll call their Marketing Director.
  6. Good points. I actually went to Catholic grade school and the nuns would stand over us and say "Eat everything on your plate!" even if we were full. So what did we do, we kept eating. It was hard to lose that idea in our heads. Now a days, I just stop when I'm full. Even if that means that you throw the rest away or wrap it up for further consumption...
  7. Bless these people, because they mean well. And I am quite the carnivore so I love these types of steakhouses when they keep bringing meats to the table. But, I just received a direct mail piece that says: "Rodizio Grill is America's First Brazilian Steakhouse and the only Brazilian Steakhouse 90% Gluten Free" Again, they mean well, but I almost...
  8. Look at it this way, now that you have eliminated gluten your villas are in repair mode. And the only way to go is up! I have actually had several private messages sent to me with the same situation as yours. While your body is repairing (and getting ready to absorb protein and nutrients), you should try to drink at least 70 ounces of water per day....
  9. I have had no problems with Amy's or Trader Joe's gluten free products and I am fairly sensitive to gluten (too many stories to tell in terms of how little I need to set me off). Having worked for one of Amy's main competitors, I know that responsible manufacturers actually use dedicated lines and rooms for gluten free items. We were doing it years ago...
  10. THIS ADVICE IS CONCISE AND RIGHT ON!!! Follow it if you want to put on weight (muscle). The exercise will boost your appetite in a matter of hours. Here are some of my favorite proteins that were not listed below: - All natural lunch turkey breast (eat it with a knife and fork like a steak). It has single digit fat and packed with protein. - Low fat...
  11. What does your diet look like (give examples) for: - 12 hours prior to your work out - 12 hours after That may help us pinpoint something. Been there (unfortunately) but it is now ancient history.

    ARCHIVED Sex Drive

I thought I would ask... are you a male or female? Assuming that you are male, have you had a blood tested recently to see where your testosterone levels are? The doctor can find that in any rudimentary tests. Low testosterone levels could be a culprit.
  13. Hi Nate: If you want to put on weight/muscle, I have one word for you: PROTEIN. Give me an idea as to what you daily consumption of protein looks like (meat, seafood, fish, beans, etc.). Subsequently, I should be able to help you out.
  14. Beware (LOL)! When you open the box and only eat one, a little voice commands you to keep coming back for more. The REALLY are that good and I don't have a sweet tooth. Good job with the re-formulation Enjoy Life. So moist too.
  15. Please take special note that nowhere did I claim that a potato manufacturer was selling product with gluten and not claiming it on the package. And due to the fact that I had these at a fundraiser event, I didn't have the privilege to see the package that the caterer used as I was served by a waiter with a tray. (my bad) I'm simply making three statements...
  16. I am a HUGE proponent of visiting your local spice shops where they blend their own spices. Not only do they know what is and is NOT gluten free, they make suggestions for your specific favorites. As you may or may not know, I am a huge carnivore. With that said, I have a number of meat specific gluten-free spices for each of my favorites: flank steak...
  17. CalicoKitty: LOOK OUT for sweet potato fries, they put me "down for the count" last year when I consumed only about 8 of them at a fundraiser event. Once I was done being glutened, I did some online research and could only find spotty research whether or not they are actually gluten free. NOTE: I make presentations to large food retail buyers on a...
  18. Hi Bear: Lisa is spot on with her recommendation regarding a simple diet. Follow it for a few weeks and continue to shop the "Golden Horseshoe" of the store (Produce, meat, dairy, and seafood department). One more thing that I might add.... keep fully hydrated. Now is the time for you to flush your system more than ever. Your villas are in their...
  19. I actually travel to Bentonville, Arkansas at least two times per month. My stays range stay from 2-3 nights. I'm actually in food development and brokerage, hence the reason for being in Northwest Arkansas so often. But, that's not the point of this posting. Across the street from the hotel where I stay (located in between the Wal-Mart home office...
  20. I usually train right after being glutened. And, I funnel all of that anger toward gluten and the result is an intense work out. I probably tell myself "HEY Gluten.... you think you're going to get the best of me? Think again!!!" And I keep repeating it. PS - Protein shakes before AND after work outs. And do you ever get that late afternoon "blah...
  21. I know that you already covered nuts, but not butter. Don't forget Almond Butter! It's packed with fiber, anti-oxidants, and protein. Marries well with gluten-free bread, and apples (also in high fiber). Costco sells a club pack and you can find other jars at Whole Foods. Some even have small packs that resemble a ketchup pack -- and is mobile for...
  22. I think that you should get a blood test and have the doctor run absolutely every angle possible. Have you done that?
  23. If you're looking to put on weight, you need to make protein a priority BEFORE calories. Plenty of options there (lean meats, greek yogurt, lean lunchmeats, cottage cheese, egg whites, protein powder). And don't forget the essential good fats that you can get from olive oils and nuts like almonds and almond butter.
  24. Hopefully when the weather gets better, you'll be able to take some short walks around the neighborhood. Snow is tough!
  25. Flank steak and pan seared broccolini. Yummy.
