  1. I just made pumpkin bread the other day combining a gluten free recipe and my former nongluten free version that I loved and it worked. I know its not a real bread but I was happy to eat something with a texture of bread that was very close to its original that I used to make. I felt like the stars were lined up for me when it worked yesterday. I was so...
  2. The reason why I stated a full Celiac Panel is because my child on her first Celiac Panel only tested for tTG and EMA which were both negative. However two months later a full Celiac Panel was given and with that both DGP tests and they were positive and her Total IgA was on the low side of normal. If it wasn't for the full Celiac Panel we would not have...
  3. I meant to say modified food starch. Oops!
  4. It caused pain in my daughter. Before the diagnosis she had terrible stomach pains the month prior which is what landed her in the hospital. She was in alot of pain (9). So yes stomach pain can definitely be a symptom of Celiac. A Celiac Blood Panel should include the following which you could get your primary doctor to run: Total Serum IgA EMA...
  5. In the G - Diet book it states that when a food product only states "starch" it must come from corn whereas modified corn starch can come from a number of substances. However if it derived from wheat they must state that because of the food allergen labeling laws but they don't have to state is from oats, barley or rye. However, the rule regarding "starch...
  6. College Inn also has Gluten, just got rid of it. It clearly states wheat.
  7. There is the possibility you could be getting Gluten, as it is difficult to get everything 100% gluten free to begin. Five days is a short time. It takes much longer than that for your intestines to heal if you do have Celiac.
  8. Did they run a full Celiac Panel? There are five tests in it. Its something to keep in mind because many people have posted results that are not a full Celiac Panel. Did you ever get relief from being 100% Gluten Free and check everything you eat as that can make a difference?
  9. Normally they take about 6 samples in a biopsy. One sample is not enough. If you don't mind me asking do you know what Celiac Test you were positive on? Also, I believe Reflux is common in Celiacs. You may want to google that. You should not be gluten free prior to a biopsy, you need to remain on a Gluten diet. You might consider finding another GI...
  10. I am no doctor but I do believe that Celiac individuals commonly have Reflux. I would google that. From what I've read a doctor should take about 6 samples in a biopsy. A doctor cannot necessarily see the damage unless its bad, it needs to be sent to a lab for verification. What blood test were you positive on for Celiac?
  11. Blood testing for Celiac Disease has false negatives. I'm not implying you have Celiac Disease but you do need to keep that in the back of your mind as you look into other possible medical reasons for your problems. I can say the initial celiac test my daughter had was negative, then another doctor ran the panel with two additional tests and it was...
  12. Well anyway I did read that there are connections of burning pain in the extremeties and celiac when I googled it today. One more thought since you can't find your celiac blood work, that might give you clues as to whether celiac might be a problem. Its not uncommon for celiacs to have light color oily stools that may float due to malabsorbtion issues...
  13. Has your doctor ever run vitamins or nutrient tests like B12, Magnesium, Folate, Vitamin D, K? Also, have you seen any specialists at all or just an internal doctor?
  14. It appears as though you are IgA deficient which causes false negatives on IgA testing for Celiac. You should get tested for the IgG's.
  15. I'm fairly new at this but I don't think that was a Celiac test. I googled Helicobacter Pylori and it appears to be related to an infection that can cause an ulcer. A Celiac Panel Test will include the following tests Total Serum IgA - They check this to see if you are IgA deficient because it can effect the test results EMA IgA - Anti_endomysial Antibody...
  16. My daughter is 13 and we just were diagnosed this month. She was feeling better after going Gluten Free but she is getting new symptoms like the Asthma she was diagnosed with today. She is now suffering from knee pain. I'm not sure what to do myself. I know she is Vitamin D deficient as of today and I am hoping this is the cause of her current problems...
  17. You might want to look at medications especially if you have been taking any since the start of your symptoms. You can be okay with a medicine and then one day you start having a reaction. I might try seeing an allergist or a doctor that practices Integrative Medicine. Do you ever feel better, like at work or on vacation. You might want to try an elimination...
  18. I would look at your results and see specifically what Celiac Tests they performed and post what tests they did. There are multiple different panels for Celiac Disease.
  19. I recently got a letter from my Childs school for two weeks of absences and had to go get the doctor write a note. I can say last quarter she missed something like 13 days of school alone. Its frustrating when school systems hassle parents of straight A students who have no behavioral issues but medical issues. I recommend getting your doc to write notes...
  20. Thanks for sharing that information with me. I suspected I was having a reaction but was hoping otherwise. However, I must say if this continues it is really a very scary thought that I would never had known if it wasn't for my daughter. I will continue testing this off and on over the next few months and monitor my reactions. I know the whole deal that...
  21. Okay I know a lot about Celiac Disease since my daughter has been diagnosed. I'm familiar with all the symptoms and I know all family members should be tested. So leaving that aside I'm wondering if there is anybody on these forums who started having trouble with Gluten only after going Gluten Free for a family member. I have never had any symptoms of...
  22. Personally I would skip the gene testing as it is very expensive and does not provide you with a diagnosis anyway. I would first do a full Celiac Blood Panel on any family member exhibiting signs of Celiac. Then later as financial issues allow, test the other family members.
  23. Doctor's have not said a word to me about getting family tested but I do know it is supposed to be done. Too many doctors are very ignorant when it comes to Celiac Disease. It's quite a shame.
  24. I haven't tried Bob's Red Mill Tapioca starch but have only used EnerG brands Tapioca Starch. To be honest I have had zero success with anything from Bob's Red Mill. Maybe its because their flours are stone milled rather than finely milled. I don't know but now I don't buy their stuff. EnerG Tapioca Starch doesn't taste like anything.
