  1. Years ago I started getting rashes at work. I would notice they would get better over the weekend and then worsen as the work week went on. I only have skin allergies but the reaction was delayed. I was going crazy trying to figure out what it was. It was the new rugs. The rugs went and my hives disappeared. Do you wear dry clean clothes during the...
  2. Taco's are easy to make in that environment. Old El Paso is what we use. Spaghetti is easy. You can buy the sauce gluten free and the Quinoa pasta is indistinguishable from regular wheat pasta. I believe Diamond nuts are gluten free. Just found Bell and Evans gluten free chicken fingers in the frozen food section at Whole Foods. Admittedly, we haven...
  3. My daughter eats these all the time and has not had any problems.
  4. I recently tossed the Mr Stubbs Beef Marinade when we had to go Gluten Free. Anyway tonight at the grocer I bought some Sirloin and was really in the mood for some marinated Sirloin. So as I go down the aisle I see the Mr Stubbs and for the heck of it read the ingredients being hopeful. I was pleasantly surprised. because the bottle says, "All natural...
  5. Maybe the Prof EIA has to do with the testing equipment.
  6. My child had the endoscopy last month. We were all in a private room the entire time except for her when they wheeled her out for the endoscopy. She was tense so they gave her an anti anxiety pill. Then they numbed her wrist with a spray before putting in the IV. She prefers the spray over the adhesive numbing. Upon return to the room she was very groggy...
  7. My child went Gluten Free in January and this is what we like and dislike so far: Like Quinoa Pasta Snyders Gluten Free Pretzels Cape Cod Chips Kettle Brand chips Kettle Corn or popcorn Pamela's ginger cookies Schar Brand Gluten Free Vanilla Wafers, Shortbread Cookies Midol Oreos Cherry Brook Chocolate Cake Mix Authentic Foods Flours San Juan...
  8. The sad truth is too many doctors don't understand this disease. I think yesterday I had a doctor tel me you are born with it and it's an allergy.
  9. I wouldn't 100% discount it yet. My teens results negative Gene Testing, tTG IgA, EMA IgA, antiGlidian IgA and IgG but positive on the DGP IgA and IgG. You really need all the tests.
  10. Her strep is a long story. End of September had terrible neck pain and went to ER and was dismissed. Week later labs for strep show positive over 300. Doctor said not to worry - no antibiotics. Fast forward to end of December with new doctor. Strep blood positive once again over 300 but no symptoms and the other strep test for active infection at highest...
  11. Have you seen the DGP test results. I think the 7 is out of range (at least on the one we had done) and was considered a positive. You might want to look at the ranges and double check.
  12. Who's flour are you using. I have been working on cookies for six weeks. At first the cookies just spread and spread no matter what. I'm now using Authentic Foods Flours and I'm not having that problem. Actually I have cut out baking powder and have cut guar or xantham gum down to 1/4 t and think it may be too much as cookies are not as flat as I want...
  13. There is definitely the shock of being diagnosed as Celiac, but eating Gluten Free does become easier with time. My teen is Celiac and we've all gone gluten free for her. It can be a drag at times, but when you see how much better you feel you'll find it easier to be gluten free. Gluten Free foods in the US are a rip off as well. There are still many...
  14. Anyone have trouble fighting a strep infection who is a Celiac. She had a positive rapid strep test. My child has a strep infection for now 5 days and still no better on antibiotics. Antibiotics have been changed and still not better. Going back to doctor again.
  15. There are a number of forum members with positive biopsies and negative blood work. Did your doctor take biopsies? There are also multiple blood tests for celiac.
  16. Living in a mixed household is hard. Especially beware of the condiments like butter and the kitchen counters. It's hard to break other peoples habits and they just don't get it even if they are your parents (I hate to say this but it can be all to true). We just found the lip moisturizer to have wheat after almost 3 months. We thought we had everything...
  17. I believe the newest tests are the Deamidiated Gliadin Peptide (DGP IgA and IgG). It is called the Gliadin Test which is a very similiar name to the Anti Gliadin Test which is a completely different test. I hope you feel better.
  18. I can say my family member was negative for tTG IgA, EMA IgA, Anti Glidian Iga and IgG, genetic tests, but positive on both Deamidiated Gliadin Tests.
  19. An endoscopy requires that they take samples(6 or so) of the small intestine. Not all damage can be seen which is why a biopsy is required.
  20. Yes it was over 8. I was mentioning the old standard for normal TSH levels used to be 5 or so and then more recently cut to 3 or so. I'm upset no one mentioned that her TSH numbers were of concern and I find out by getting her labs and doing research on my own.
  21. CassP So you were diagnosed with Graves and Hashmito's with normal T4 and T3 but elevated TSH? I feel like I'm going crazy. Do doctors read labs and its crazy how difficult it is for patients to get them. Do doctors normally dismiss elevated TSH with normal T4? My teen was just diagnosed with Asthma but now I'm wondering if its the Thyroid causing...
  22. I was reading about thyroid last night. She's had 3 labs for thyroid and I was told they were all normal. Got my hands on the one from the hospital and the TSH levels were not normal. I guess they go by the T4, if that's normal then you don't have a problem. I've got to get my hands on the other two. Too many times I've been told labs are normal only...
  23. They were supposed to send the genetic testing but it wasn't in the package. It will probably take me another 6 weeks to get my hands on that. We are of Irish, German, English, Swiss, Scottish and American Indian heritage.
  24. It doesn't matter in terms of how you treat it whether its one diagnosis or the other, but I was just curious. The only difference I can see is with insurance purposes. I guess I'm just another scientific type on here who wants to know more than what is known.
  25. So if there is no Marsh level notated on biopsy but just those lymphocytes and you are missing the generally accepted genes but have two positive labs are you more likely to be considered Gluten Intolerant or Celiac?
