ARCHIVED Self-Linking Etiquette/rules On The Forum
domesticactivist replied to U Gluten Free's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Hm. The titles do seem the same aside from the identifiers. I think it would be possible to write a script that figured out the whole title from part of it. However, it would probably have to access this site in ways that aren't approved. -

I used to script but haven't for years. I already posted all those entries and the trick is knowing what the correlating post is on this site to link to. Does that make sense? The names of the posts on this site have numbers thrown in which I'm assuming are some sort of database unique identifier which I can't predict. It seems I'd have to look at the links... -
ARCHIVED How Long To See Improvement After Eliminating Food?
domesticactivist replied to sreese68's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'll second what the others have said. Also, looking at your list it doesn't look like the most gut-friendly list ever. Even if your gluten symptoms are neuro, it still could have damaged your gut. The ELISA is good for detecting IgE issues (actual allergies) but the thing I now believe about IgG intolerances is that a leaky gut will make anything you... -

ARCHIVED Odd Aching, Anyone Else? Oh And Raised Tattoos
domesticactivist replied to rgarton's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get that on my tattoo on the back of my neck.. The first time it happened was about a year after I got it. I had put on a new shirt at a concert and spent a lot of time siting in the sun. Since then, I have noticed it happens most if it gets much sun or has clothes tags rubbing on it. I can't say 100 percent that's it, though. It's very annoying and worries... -

That makes sense. I'm sorry I got bent out of shape. I can prevent backlinks from new posts on the blog. Going back and fixing the old ones is just daunting. -
When you want a little sweet, a little chewy, these macaroons are just the ticket. We got this recipe from our friends at Open Original Shared Link. We like things a little less sweet than others, so we cut the honey down to 1/4 c. Coconut Macaroons 6 egg whites 1/4 c honey 1.5 T vanilla extract OR 1 T vanilla extract plus 1 t almond extract 3 c shredded...

ARCHIVED I Can Fall Asleep, But Can't Stay Asleep
domesticactivist replied to anna34's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This might seem weird, but how dark is the room you sleep in? I'm really sensitive to light. Since my partner made us black out curtains I sleep MUCH better. -
If you actually have celiac disease, then it really doesn't matter whether eating gluten has an obvious effect or not. If the antibodies are present, the damage is being done. If you are doing it just to see if it helps with anything, then maybe a trial wouldn't hurt. But I caution you - I don't think one month in without really having eliminated cross...

And my post about my facebook page was removed, which I find weird, because this site has the facebook feature built in. WTF. -

Do you all think I'm some annoying spammer? I'm not just pretending to be a celiac mommy so I can sell stuff. Geesh. -

Shoot. So I misunderstood this thread and thought links to my site from a BLOG post would be ok. I pasted all my blogs in from my editor on my (wordpress) site and tediously changed it all to bbcode and removed every link and picture from amazon, and now I'm in big trouble because most of my posts has links to other posts from my blog (like they do on the... -

I just saw this now! Thanks for your well-wishes. Kodiak's tics are not all gone, but they are much better. Lately she's just had a little whistling one. I don't think gluten is the full picture for her. They got much better when fruit and cheese were both out of her diet (GAPS Intro) but have come back since. Even at their best, they still returned when... -
ARCHIVED Logging In As Facebook?
domesticactivist replied to domesticactivist's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Thanks. I wish I had started out that way because I really don't want two accounts. I think I'll stick with the one I'm using. -
I don't have celiac, but have lost almost 20 lbs since going gluten-free and starting the GAPS diet (see sig for details). The weight just fell off, then stabilized, which is a good thing since I am thin and didn't have more than that to lose. What's weird is that I'd been at a very stable weight before, for years and years since after my kids stopped breastfeeding...

ARCHIVED Italy, Paris, & London With Additional Food Allergies
domesticactivist replied to fughawzi's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Really watch out for the nuts in Paris. I traveled there with a colleague many years ago who was severely allergic to nuts. He learned to ask for no nuts, but people didn't really get it. Maybe times have changed, I hope so. He had a bad reaction after dinner one night and it was terrifying! Get one of those cards in several languages explaining the importance... -
I'm wondering what happens if I log in as facebook. Will it alter my regular account in any way? Will my posts as facebook show up linked with my domesticactivist account (ie, on same profile)? Will my name show up as my facebook name on my posts here? Will all my posts here automatically show up on facebook? Will my facebook picture override my chosen...

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
domesticactivist replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just posted a whole bunch of recipes on my new blog here on this site! It's basically a mirror of the blog I have on our own website. You can see the blog at The Liberated Kitchen, Redux All the recipes are 100% gluten-free and fine for the Full GAPS diet. Some of them are fine for earlier GAPS stages, too, though I haven't tagged them as such yet. -

Thank you! I must admit I have help with the blog! My partner, Kelsy, does most of the cooking and wrote most of the food posts that are up so far. I have written a bunch but have yet to convert them to bbcode if you look on the original blog you can see which of us wrote them. I hadn't realized how popular the blogs here are - I hadn't looked at them... -

domesticactivist replied to U Gluten Free's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
OK, so now I've added a bunch of posts, and I tried to add another one. After the tedious process of changing everything to bbcode it is now telling me I've posted too many images. It doesn't say if that's a total in my blog or just per post. I can't find the place where it tells me how many are allowed. The pictures are documenting a step by step process... -
Nettle Quiche With Almond Crust
domesticactivist posted a blog entry in The Liberated Kitchen, redux
Being on a restricted diet presents an interesting challenge when invited to a pot luck. Do we bring all of our own food and don't share? Seems rude. Do we eat the stuff that looks safe? Seems risky. Do we bring a dish that combines both protein and vegetable and then eat only that? Bingo. What better way to combine protein and vegetable for a spring... -
Here is an easy crumb crust, both for baked and unbaked pies. If using it for a sweet dessert, I add a half tablespoon of honey. If for savory, like a quiche, I leave the honey out. Enjoy! Almond Crust makes a single 9" pie crust 3 c crispy almonds 1/4 t fine sea salt 1/2 T honey (optional) 4 T unsalted butter, cut into 8 or 10 chunks 1 large egg...

Transforming Leftovers - Rabbit Pesto Saut
domesticactivist posted a blog entry in The Liberated Kitchen, redux
This post is a part of Open Original Shared Link. The other night we had a truly delightful sit-down dinner of roasted rabbit with nettle-walnut pesto, spring fennel & strawberry salad, and broccolini. So the next day when I got home after dark, exhausted from hours of driving people here and there, who could blame me for wanting to use up what was left... -
Spring Fennel & Strawberry Salad
domesticactivist posted a blog entry in The Liberated Kitchen, redux
Nothing could have made me happier than finding the first fresh strawberries of the season at a local farmers' market, and that's just what happened last Saturday at Market Q! We had a couple of them right away but didn't want to eat too many at once. We're still adjusting to being on the full GAPS diet, and we take new foods slowly and carefully. Strawberries...
