  1. Alex, that sounds like a perfect day to me!!! I'm an "old school". dinosaur. I still like "holding" books while I read them and I like libraries. too and I hope they do not become extinct in our techno world. Dinner tonight will be roast pork with onions and garlic and baked sweet potatoes and maybe baby peas. Taking the day off from physical...
  2. I couldn't agree more. No one needs permission to take charge of her health.
  3. You have a few necessary ingredients for survival--a sense of humor and great faith. Tough times don't last. Tough people do. Hang in there, hon. We're here for you.
  4. ah, the essence of vacation....no "ick" factor I know how hard it is to travel, hon, and I wonder....can you get some low dose muscle relaxers maybe? skelaxin is not as hard on the system as flexeril (so I am told) Now, you know how I am about drugs, but maybe there is something for you to take perhaps? I hate the thought of you in pain for...
  5. You found the G f spot!! whoohoo!! isn't it wonderful to find a safe place to eat? oh I am so delighted for you!
  6. Oh, we are very familiar with the "I'm doing a gluten challenge and this stinks" rants. (but people use more salty language than "stinks") You absolutely get to to rant, vent, scream, whine and throw stuff around the yard....Oh., and punch pillows (just not the hubs) This is a brave thing you are doing and not many could survive it (I couldn't)...
  7. I dunno, how many? you will notice I said "sounds simple". Karen said almost the same thing "burn more than you take in" Smoothies may not be very low-cal. When I was undiagnosed, I lost 90 lbs. and when I went gluten-free after DX, I gained 40 ( 30 I did not need) That's why I am at the gym. LOL well, if Dylan is an undiagnosed celiac, maybe...
  8. Caio, Bella! and Safe journey. No worries about Bingley. We had to leave our Bella for a month and she did fine with a pet sitter. We left some of our shirts for her to snuggle into our scent. You deserve this vacation in the sunshine and already, love you...take care and DO tell us stories from Croatia.
  9. for the love of mike, now I have cravings for pot pie with biscuits and some macarons and .....cake obviously, I am easily swayed by food porn chatter
  10. well, perhaps when they've all gone off to college or marriage or whatevs .....
  11. I like when Karen and SKI type celiac and their auto-correct thinger turns it into "celibacy"
  12. Here's my fail-proof diet plan: Eat less, exercise more. sounds simple, but it works.
  13. Would you say that again louder so the hubs can hear that please? or my Mom? Not to be picky, but I'm pretty sure they are macarons not macaroons, but I'm gonna let LOVE2 tell you that. .
  14. hey, when I say this about these kiddos not eating cake for dinner and making sure they are getting their protein, you say "Oh let them have some goodies". I wanted to be "lenient mom" for a change.

  16. ice cream? cottage cheese? butterscotch pudding? soup? noodles with butter? trying to think of soft things for you, poor baby cake makes me happy too. I like a good piece of cake. and those are macarons (but not macaroons) in Love2's picture. on your car, your bike, or your go- kart? don't spill your tea when you slam them on!.
  17. Now, here's a spouse who obviously "gets it" and is very supportive and wise! Kudos to you, howlnmad (love the name . BTW) It is possible to co-exist and many families do it. There is nothing unhealthy at all about a gluten-free diet and as long as you get enough fiber in your diet and do not eat too many packaged, high starch gluten-free foods...
  18. That is a great, comprehensive answer this doctor provides. I'm bookmarking that one, so I do no have to type all that over and over each time someone asks why should I get tested Thanks, K!.
  19. I swear, I think my pants just got tighter reading this post.
  20. YUM--all good stuff, K- (drooling) Going with a beef filet tonight on the grill, some baby potatoes and asparagus. Like Love2Travel, we're forcing Spring. (although we have been known to grill out in the snow)
  21. That should do it! You are the only one among us who could use "unctuous" in a sentence and not sound like a pompous asshat (and get heckled by the troops). It's just "you"--whom we love and dearly hope gets out of that snow-filled hell as soon as possible. Get thee to the sun, woman!
  22. Well, I'm a pretty sensitive celiac myself and I have had good luck dining out at places recommended by fellow celiacs. It could also be that you have other food sensitivities? (just saying) I kept wondering what the heck was getting me for a long time (knowing full well I was as gluten-free as humanly possible, not eating out at the time and living in...
  23. I keep mine in the fridge once I open it. You can do anything you want with it --what do you have in mind? Muffins, breads, cookies, chicken tenders? Open Original Shared Link Elana's pantry has many good ideas: Open Original Shared Link and this article was pretty interesting: Open Original Shared Link and there's this...
