ARCHIVED Disappointed At Chipotle - What Should I Expect?
IrishHeart replied to Nikki2777's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Absolutely true. They do their best, but eating out is a crap shoot. I am very exact with my requests to waitstaff and/or the chef in about a dozen restaurants and I have been lucky ( I have been burned only once. It was a 99 restaurant. Yet, the week before, I went unscathed. Same place.) I have yet to try a Chipotle, but the celiacs I know who... -

Who are you Lucy Ricardo? No, wait, that's me! (this is why I am forbidden to use the mandolin, the table saw and the hedge trimmers. You only need to back track and cut the electrical cord 3 times before those are taken away, apparently) And I thought I was the only dumbass who rubbed her eyes (or perhaps other delicate places she may have accidentally... -

It should not hurt. But I understand if you balk at it. (I had the same thing happen and the salt sped up the healing) Take care, honey! G'night -

good movie! So sorry you feel so sore, hon. Are you doing warm water and salt swishes? Trust me, it helps heal and soothe. -
Being "very low gluten" for 2 years could explain a lot. Yes, there are people who have had negative blood panels with positive biopsies. They mention " latent or partially treated" celiac as the reason. Also, people with gluten ataxia or dermatitis herpitiformis may have negative blood work but positive biopsies. Dr. Green's book mentions this, I...

ARCHIVED Celebrate With Me!
IrishHeart replied to GF Lover's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
it's....... Lady: "You want your nuts crushed?" Kid: "You want your boobies blown off?" Probably crossed the line there, but it is Colleen's celebratory thread and she likes to laugh, so I'm leaving it there. for a few minutes......until we probably need to "hide it". -

aw, I feel the same way when my baby makes burgers on da grill . We had beans and greens soup and veggie rolls ups for dinner tonight and I am coming out of my sad coma. I do not want to get into a "political" discussion at all, so please, no one start with me...but the President did a wonderful job today in Boston. I am grateful. Boston Strong. -

This works better as a visual, but here goes: Little boy, dressed head to toe in a cowboy outfit goes into an ice cream shop and stares at the woman behind the counter. She says: "well, aren't you adorable!" Kid pulls his little toy guns out of the holster, points them at her and scowls, "No, I'm not! I'm a cowboy and I'm tough, so don't make me... -

ARCHIVED What A Difference A Year (Well Four Years) Makes!
IrishHeart replied to GottaSki's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh, I most definitely think it has helped her directly. It's my friend who says "inadvertently" because she was not really thinking about the gluten connection at all when she started this "diet" 25 years ago. She did it, in fact, as part of a diet with OA (over-eaters anonymous) to lose weight and to control her carbs and sugar intake and in conjunction... -
ARCHIVED Peanut Butter
IrishHeart replied to jen9882's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Not really sure it's a "gluten reaction" and the PB is "cced". No way peanut butter would be processed on shared equipment. I get diarrhea from foods that have nothing to do with gluten, hon. Eggs, for example. I have used natural PB (no additives) and JIF or Skippy. No problems and I am pretty sensitive. -

FanTastic!! I just knew you'd be okay. When I had my brain MRI for all the neuro symptoms, and it was negative, I said to Jack tearfully "well, they looked at my brain, but they didn't find anything in there!!!". which prompted laughter, of course. Please, have a daiquiri for me, too! No, 2!!! SO happy for you, hon! xxoo
