  1. I think by now, we all know this....bacon goes with everything!! ADDY The warm sunshine, ocean air and seeing my best friend does indeed agree with me....more than I can adequately say. The constant muscle/joint/bone pain level I deal with daily? Well, it went from an "ok, I'm smiling through the pain because no one likes a whiner level" 7 to a"...
  2. The squeal heard as far away as Florida! yaay!! . I missed something, I'm sure--- but what bread was it that made you so excited? Costco chicken is safe, then.... good to know. Last night, we had amazingly succulent stone crab claws, roasted asparagus and the last encore piece of flourless chocolate cake. I let the big guy have most of it (the night...
  3. Yes! What Loey said so perfectly--sent from me , too! hugs, IH
  4. spit coffee on keyboard...check! thanks for that, sillypants
  5. Spoil sport. Check! You "done good", kid--- telling it like it is. G F Dabblers do us no favors. Happy skiing.
  6. I had wicked rib cage pain (still do, to an extent) and my collar bone region hurts like heck. I was told it was costochondritis. I have lots of "itises" --I feel like I am the queen of "itis" ---as so many of us can relate to, I'm afraid. It is better after 2 years gluten-free, and I remain hopeful for continued healing. I have horrid bone/joint...
  7. As Karen has pointed out, there is no valid test for gluten sensitivity just yet. Save your cash.
  8. SKI!! Holy mackeral!! that cake is awesome. We can add cake decorator to your many mad skills. Cool beans, little sister! I cracked up yesterday when my friend's 96 year old mom licked the spoon, her fingers and the plate !! after she finished her piece of flourless chocolate cake. Talk about enjoying the crap out of every single moment. I hope to be her...
  9. Robb, you sound a lot like me and my friend Sherry (Dxed with c-diff in tandem with her celiac DX). Do not give up. I was a mess before my DX. I even tried methotrexate (against my better judgement) upon the insistence of a snarky rheumatolgist. It made my gut worse and did nothing for the joint/bone pain. If a gut is impaired, meds can make us feel...
  10. I had the same response. The paleo approach did not work for me at all. The increase in certain veggies and fruits raised the histamine levels in my body so high and created symptoms that feel like glutenings (shortness of breath, hair loss, fatigue, itching, skin burning and prickling, insomnia, racing heart, bowel issues). I have no thyroid disease or...
  11. Northern Elf, that would be an informative thread indeed! Please do. I'm interested in reading your thoughts/research. Thanks! IH
  12. You mention these foods (tomatoes, vinegar, mayo, chocolate) and they are high in histamine. I have had trouble with them myself, causing many symptoms as you describe. Perhaps you should be tested for allergies? Pre-diagnosis, gluten/Celiac gave me itching and bladder problems. Off gluten, I have none of those symptoms. Celiac is not an allergy...
  13. MW Sorry you got "got". Darn soy. I avoid it, too.Not hard to give up for me, really--not a soy fan, but it is pervasive. I have used Coconut aminos for an adequate soy sauce sub. Just a suggestion. xx http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-94720-coconut-secret-raw-coconut-aminos-soy-free-seasoning-sauce-8-oz?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=fpl&...
  14. Crazy (and totally wrong) Irish toast I saw recently. Given the proclivity for the Irish to have celiac (so much so that they dub it "celtic disease") I find it bizarrely ironic. (but I have a twisted sense of humor as you know) Knew you guys would find it funny.Cheers! "Rye bread will do you good, Barley bread will do you no harm, Wheaten bread...
  15. Happy Birthday, LOVE!!2 and my special wish for you this year (as it is for every single day) is for less pain. So sorry you took a spill. Make sure you get that inflammation down with " Ice, ice baby." (if any of you recognized that as a song by Vanilla Ice from the 90's---well, you're old. ) SKI The Redbridge will do for brining that beef, but J...
  16. ADDY Awesome giraffe covers, girl! I am lucky I can sew on a button. SKI I think I expressed my outrage about the bike thief clearly enough over email, but I'll add one more &^%$! to the tirade. asshat thief. MINDWARP Having some continued success adding foods back in down here, (brown rice and all fruits seem okay) but still unable to...
  17. Good for you, hon! I noticed from the beginning that you have a mega-positive attitude and you did your homework and you tamed the beast. A celiac DX is not the end of the world (though many view it that way at first) and you're proof that healing happens. Rock on, little sister! Thanks for sharing your success story. It helps in so many ways. hugs...
  18. EVERY day is a healing day, Cali That's my motto. We're all living proof. I took digestive enzymes before meals and probiotics every day religiously the first year and I still take probiotics every morning. I do eat out but I choose places declared safe by other celiacs on Find Me Gluten Free or Trip Advisor. I waited to do this kind of splurging...
  19. .......and that light is not an oncoming train, we promise! Me, too, P--I was 47 and those fibroids, endo, cysts, etc can wreak havoc with the intestines. Adhesions can make a mess, too.My entire pelvic floor was deeply impacted and I had to have "special PT" to make things right. Not fun.
  20. Another "IBS" and hyster-sister right here. Total hysterectomy after years of miscarriages and the early menopause from hell. Those symptoms you're having may all be celiac-related. Tell us more! (that "IBS" I had for most of my life--all gone)
  21. I have a secret L2T Batman signal that I can light up. Instead of a giant bat, it's shaped like a chef's hat I'll give her a shout. She usually house sits (but she is not in Croatia this month, I do not believe.) I worry about her when she is gone for a few weeks because I know that means her pain level is up, that brave girl. Back to earth yesterday...
  22. K-Dawg, Here is what I would do: Stop being so gracious about the refusal. What part of NO don't they get? Eating is not mandatory for any job I know. (unless you are a food critic) This borders on harassment, if you ask me. I have never once had to repeat myself about the treatment for celiac as being "no gluten!". Tell them it's doctor...
  23. yes, that's the one, K!
  24. To answer your initial question, No, I have never had "gluten trouble" from palm oil. It's not likely to be processed in a facility processing wheat. (but if it were, it would likely be indicated on the product label where they have already disclosed an allergy alert about peanuts and nuts) Whole Earth Crunchy Original Ingredients: Roasted Peanuts...
  25. I agree you may be "too young", but arthritis knows no age limit, I am afraid. I started with joint pain in my 30's. If it is related to gluten and celiac, it may resolve in time. Try to be patient. I keep moving despite the stiffness and pain because it "lubes the joints". No meds have ever really helped my chronic bone and joint pain (and I have osteoarthritis...
