  1. My friend with MS adopted a grain free diet back in 1987 (this was all her "radical" idea back then) when she was DXed. That woman is in better shape than anyone I know, keeping her MS at bay for 25 years. Do we both think she was probably a celiac? yup. Inadvertently, she has kept her MS from progressing that much and I think she's amazing!
  2. sneet, now that one I know mizzle (er, drizzle and mist?) That's a good one!!!
  3. Nope. Me neither and that is why this hearty New Englander is moving to Florida very soon. Come with me.
  4. MW The American comedians often rag on the state of teeth in the UK, which I find unfunny. Do you think perhaps there is more widespread unDXed coeliac (see what I did there ) by any chance? I mean, why would one population have such a hard time with their teeth? I'm just speculating here. Interestingly enough, I read THIS article about celiac...
  5. oh goodie, dental work is always such a joy. I spent 2 years and about $ 12K correcting what celiac had done to my once beautiful teeth. grumble grumble (I am having a grumble day today, don't mind me.....just walking through the kitchen in my jammies here.....any ice cream around??? hand me that spoon, Addy. Thank yew.) Meatza sounds good to me...

And since I have met you in person, I can relate this to the readers of this post......believe me, this little dynamo Gemini is one tough cookie who is healthy and happy. She is a walking testimonial...
  7. Ok, now you've made me cry. And I was already a blubbery mess all day long anyway. Colleen, you've inspired me in more ways than I can count. I think it's safe to say we're all warrior princesses? Love and hugs!
  8. Could be a dairy intolerance? or and I am just throwing this out here for your consideration, because the same thing happened to me and to another member (I'll let her pipe in here if she wants to) and I knew full well it could not possibly be a gluten reaction.. If you do not have a thyroid problem or some other health issue, perhaps it is a...
  9. ranks up there with drag yer ass tired, only worse doh!
  10. Yes, I know you were not really mad, silly. I gave you my smiley face back! But I did fail to recall about the dairy because I'm just stupid tired. sigh
  11. Actually, I did not post it to make you mad and I did forget about your dairy limitations. Forgive me, as I am not thinking clearly at all right now. the Boston tragedy has shaken me to the core and I did not sleep much.. Anyway...someday, we will have ALL the yummy things we cannot have right now (my list has about 25 things on it) so do not despair...
  12. I agree with Shroom and Peter. If it helps, I had to take a med once and it was made was by TEVA pharmaceuticals and I was comfortable with their reply to me via email that it did not contain gluten. Nothing bad happened to me as a result and I'm pretty sensitive.
  13. " You know you're a Noo Englandah when...." You can wear flip flops and shorts one day and boots and scarves the next ....during March, April and sometimes May and October. You think 50 degree water is " a:good swimming temp" You think 8 inches of snow is a "dusting".
  14. Butter & Cream Cheese Frosting* (I know, doubly dangerous) An outrageously good multi-purpose frosting for carrot cake, chocolate cake, spice cake, pumpkin cake, cupcakes, etc. (licking off a spoon....) 8 oz. cream cheese (softened) 8 oz. (1 stick ) salted butter (softened) 3 cups powdered confectioners sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla Using a...
  15. I knew she was MIA but still "A-OK" (but only because she kept me apprised of her house hunting/transition). Poor Squirmy was up to her arse in paperwork and moving boxes So glad you're settling in, sweets! I do not use the "optional cheese" addition in the Chebe mixes either and yes, I DO wet my hands and it comes out fine. I make J work the dough...
  16. Thanks for that thought, dear Ski. True words. Good always triumphs evil. Always. This madness is just making me sick....
  17. yes, I see what you did there, you sillypants!! mmmmm donuts..(if I tried every recipe that sounds good, I'd be the size of Cleveland) . Hey Guys Hate to be all serious, but can you all take a second to say a quick prayer for my homies in Boston? Thanks. This is all very disturbing. It's a civic holiday there (Patriots Day) with a Red Sox...
  18. whoohoo! I've had everything crossed and just knew you'd come out the other side with good news. Don't know that many who can remain as positive and cheery as you have been during all this stress. Rest up, get rid of that cold and enjoy the warmer weather you are getting! So happy for you, Colleen. xxx
  19. Th forsythia have buds today and the sun is actually OUT (it has been gray for days) and it's in the 50's. But i could change and be 35 tomorrow, for all I know. Hubs has taken an Allegra....something is blooming somewhere. (of all the yucky things I have/have had, thank heavens, no seasonal allergies) "April is the cruelest month". T.S. Eliot...

  21. no, huh? something like "the three stooges plan a kidnapping"? I just love your menu (and life) updates--always so yummy ( and newsy) Gonna check out that Easter bread.on The Baking Beauties (it's a great website, BTW)
  22. SKI Good luck with the appropriate home-hunting for your Mom. I was incredibly lucky (read as: pushy but charming and right place/ right time) when doing this for MIL#1, MIL#2, and Dad. This is the time in our lives when the children become the parents. sigh. Have a glass of something (and one for me) when you get home. MW & Addy the hubs dips...
  23. Hi Hyper, Welcome to the forum! I am not sure why we are prone to more migraines than most, (and I had my share of them for years-they are awful! ) but there are some theories out there. I associate anything inflammatory in my body with celiac, so I suspect that's why I had them so bad. The good news is: they can stop off gluten! "While researchers...
