Clever girl. Bribery works. I'm bribing mine too, Right now, he's cleaning out the basement as I have just made his fav Giant Oatmeal Granola Cookies. They are a powerhouse of goodness. I should really post that recipe on here. I pilfered liberally from various recipes out there and changed a few things in it, so I figure it makes it mine. Sort of. ... -
I had another thought while walking the treadmill this morning. Get the book Real Life with Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis and Daniel Leffler because it answers EVERY question you have posted. Great source and I wish I had known about it when I was Dxed, as it would have saved me tons of time researching and stumbling about in the dark. RE: the...

Welcome Chippy! Gee Free in Dee Cee has given you a great start (happy reading!!) and I will add: (6) No worries on the envelopes. That's an old myth. The adhesives in glue do not contain gluten. Open Original Shared Link (5) For communion wafers, the RCC allows a special" low gluten" wafer designed by the Benedictine nuns. It contains ...

I checked on Colleen today and she replied. Our girl is one brave cookie. I asked her permission to share with the gang here (because I know you are all concerned) and she said: "Go ahead and share. I want them to know what they mean to me." She wrote: "All that support you guys have given is working. Here's the breakdown. The nodule in my... -
ARCHIVED How Much "cheating" Is Allowed ?
IrishHeart replied to Tamber's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome, Tamber! It's okay, hon--c'mon out from behind the couch We do get a little "excited" shall we say? about the "cheating question", but it's only because we care and because most of us had some serious complications and developed additional AI diseases from long undiagnosed celiac disease, so we are trying to spare you all that misery. The... -

Smith, What exactly is a "neuropathic"? Do you mean a naturopathic doctor or is this a Neuropathic doctor--who specializes in neuropathy?? If so, please go see a gastrointestinal doctor for your digestive issues. This guy is giving you VERY wrong information. If you need to avoid gluten, you cannot eat sprouted wheat. Period. You're getting some really...- 15 replies

exactly what I was trying to say. This was my experience. and pain begets less sleep which begets more pain. Vicious cycle. Thanks for restating it, TB.

I do not think your gaming is stupid at all and I would never suggest you dump something that gives you such joy. I just know that the later you stay up, the harder it is to get a regular sleep pattern. Besides, you're a grown up; you can do whatever you want.

Having enjoyed insomnia most of my life (what kid is supposed to be up and walking around in her jammies at 2 AM?) and being especially sleep-deprived those wonderful brain-addled 3 years before DX, I can honestly say "I feel your pain and frustration". The worst time was years ago during the lovely phase of life called "peri-menopause" when a combination...

C Watching your own surgical procedure is about as cool as it gets. (I know, I'm a dork, but I like that stuff. Fascinating) And scars are sexy, IMHO. I've got 5 and I think, well, battle-worn maybe, but still kicking. . You're doing a great job of getting all this done and remaining steady and cool....one more hurdle and then, they will leave you be... -

Mr. Mw may move to the States . Better, thanks. Obviously, the high histamines and lack of DAO enzyme are still my nemesis for now (damn you, celiac! ) so it's back to the "short list" and back to the gym this AM. I simply cannot believe how much pain that darn inflammation causes. Last night, I was on fire, my neck and back in spasms and quite... -

Poor babe! Nothing like trying to keep things in check while in public. Sorry. Get some rest. If it makes you feel any better to have a buddy in distress, I have not felt well for 4 days. Many potty trips and on Thursday, I had to find one QUICKLY in a grocery store. That hasn't happened to me in a year. Not a glutening, no way. no how. Methinks I overdid... -

These guys have addressed the gluten/testing aspect, so I would like to offer my two cents on the tramadol and amitryptiline and trigger point injections issues. Been there/done that ......and I'm afraid that all the meds in the world will not help that severe muscle pain or get rid of those trigger points if gluten is fueling the inflammation in your...- 15 replies

And you always know for sure who your best friend is. Nothing says love like someone holding your hair back while you hurl. Dinner tonight: Corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots and turnips (it's not just for St. Paddy's in our house) and while it simmers, we'll continue our house cleaning. Got through the 5 weeks of mail. they held... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Vs. Gluten Intolerance
IrishHeart replied to BZBee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That's an enlightened doc , for sure! If Dr. Fasano ( who in my mind is the celiac guru) says gluten sensitivity is a broad spectrum, with celiac at the extreme end--then why would anyone in the medical community think otherwise? They are the "unenlightened", that's why. There will always be nay-sayers, but to me, anyone who feels remarkably better... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Vs. Gluten Intolerance
IrishHeart replied to BZBee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There are a few "celiac elitists" out there I saw one on another site who made me laugh out loud. (She was like the mean girl in HS who would not let certain people into her special group) It caused the NCGIs to defend themselves and it got ugly. Why should people have to defend their conscious choices to take charge of their own health? The things people... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Vs. Gluten Intolerance
IrishHeart replied to BZBee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am one of those celiacs who got the "label" the hard way (years of painful symptoms, complications, etc.) and even if the docs had not finally confirmed it, I would still have gone gluten-free and never looked back. I do not care much for labels anyway and if gluten makes someone sick, then I believe that person is INTOLERANT of it, period.... and...
