  1. I'm all for that. Fresh. New. and Springy!!
  2. Me too. I've had enough of this crap.
  3. Anyone have a brand you can recommend? (and by that, I mean you have actually baked with it and you did not suffer the consequences. I consider that the ultimate G F test ) I see my pals at Nuts.com has some, but it is not certified gluten-free. Also, carob chips? Thanks, guys.
  4. Fries, gravy and cheese = poutine, right? Sounds like comfort food to me! If you had not had at least 1 cookie to "make sure they weren't poison" (my excuse) I'd have been disappointed. I made bison meatloaf, whipped potatoes and corn---the hubs has recovered enough to have an appeitite. me? meh, not so much. But I got a few mouthfuls down. Cookies...
  5. Sorry to hear this, Kristen and I send you good thoughts, prayers, and hugs as well. Hope the neuro can do something more for you.
  6. sorry babes.... someone's already on the couch. How about this chair over here? we're all messes today.....
  7. I have seen it, but I still find it hilarious. She adds more from time to time. Cracks me up!!
  8. Try some Boar's Head Brand. The company rep assured me it was gluten-free (My Mom loves it and she wanted some) She said it is very tasty indeed.
  9. Addy, Sorry honey. (and you just told me to never ever say things like this cuz karma bites us on the butt.) Hope you feel better soon.xx Ski, I'm speechless. Must have been something at M and D's--cuz no one is more careful than you are. Feel better soon. xx Hugs all around, but from a distance so as to be sure you do not get my flu cooties.(yeah...
  10. Not a huge cold cut eater either, but when I do, I like Applegate Farms. gluten-free, Casein free and no nitrates added and very tasty. Since I cannot have foods high in histamines right now, I am not eating any deli meats at all. As for potato chips, the hubs prefers Cape Cod but I like Lay's Classic. .
  11. If there is wheat in a broth, the label must list WHEAT as an ingredient. I have never seen barley listed on a tuna can, but I suppose there is always a first.
  12. Good point, Ski. I suspect it will take me months (Doc said give it 6 months) but the "average" person may be able to tolerate low levels in 4 weeks (or so the HIT lit says). Like anything else with celiac disease, this could be an individual thing.
  13. I have to echo these two. I also have a histamine intolerance (HIT) and canned fish and shellfish will cause symptoms. Fresh caught fish is okay as it is lower in histamine.. In discussion with my GI doc last week, it can resolve in time after avoiding high histamine foods for several weeks, knocking down the level of histamine in your body and then...
  14. well, I am completely exhausted after watching the final episode.......granted, I am sick with the flu and probably snarfly already, but I used half a box of tissues. I will not say more until I know everyone has seen it. One thing I want to point out was the look of utter love on Bates' face as he watched Anna dancing. That. was. awesome.
  15. I take it you read my "gluten-free love story" on GD, then. ok, I've told the hubs I wanna be a Glutino shareholder. He's looking into it. Thanks for the tip
  16. This was just my experience of course, but unless you are experiencing hypo symptoms, IMHO, there's no point in worrying about it. If you are concerned, see an endocrinologist. Ask for the antibodies test. Best wishes, hon!
  17. I have to add a different perspective here which illustrates Takala's example of a thyroid problem that resolves off gluten. . Before my celiac DX, my TSH was 5.3 and I was put on thyroid medication.(i had many symptoms that shouted HYPO) It swung to 0.1 and I was hyperthyroid. This created all sorts of symptoms for 2 years and made me jittery,...
  18. Currently, there are no valid tests for gluten sensitivity. There are tests for celiac disease. (which is NOT an allergy ) There are skin pricks tests that can be done by certified allergists to determine if you have allergies.
  19. Thanks for asking, sweetie. Yes, a little bit ! Hubs --er, not so much. Poor guy. I was just about to start throwing together a chicken noodle soup. We do not really have appetites. I do not feel so wiped out today, so that must be a good sign!
  20. I'm thinking you're a genius. I'm thinking the gluten-free market has exploded and it's only going to get bigger. Good for you. and now, I'm thinking I may break open my piggy bank and buy some myself. and although I am not a pop tart fan myself, I did enjoy them once and a while as a kid (yes, they've been around since the civil war ) and I think it...
  21. Synthetic vitamin E is often made from petroleum sources. Regarding Vitamin E and mixed tocopherols. This is a frequent question on here. Of course, we should not eat wheat germ, but the oil is highly refined. If a food or supplement includes as an ingredient vitamin E derived from wheat germ oil that is not highly refined, and the vitamin...
  22. Another good resource for you (and you parents) to read is the book Real Life with Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis and Daniel Leffler. I highly recommend it. The articles are written by 50 international celiac specialists, has short chapters, covers everything about the disease, how it is Dxed, what's involved in the diet, nutritional advice, how...
  23. Well, he was until he got it ,too. Nothing says true love like two people simultaneously hacking themselves silly all night long I wish you could come too, hon... but I'd rather you came when I am well so we can play together in the kitchen!!. Okay, well, I managed to work up the "oomph" to throw in a roasted chicken. It got a quickie butter,...
