  1. Thanks for posting this, Gem. You know I'm a believer in the power of probiotics.
  2. I know, I know. duh To reverse the hex, I just said this: I never, ever win the lottery.
  3. Nice bacon hearts, K! waaaa I'm sick (note to self: never, ever brag that you "do not get colds or the flu") and I can't eat and everything hurts. oy. Can someone please bring me some chicken soup? Thank you. This had better be gone soon. I've got a vacation planned. ....'scuse me while I go cough up a lung.
  4. Chill, I agree entirely with your thoughts.
  5. The majority of us answering here have not had an easy recovery at all. I lived in hell for 5 years. 3 prior and 2 after DX. I'm still working on it. And it is because of that --that we remain here, helping on a daily basis, writing threads for the newbies, etc. Some of us just do not think that being a celiac makes us "abnormal". It just makes it...
  6. Amen, sister! One joyous gift of a day after another. (Not to derail the train here, but how's Florida? shoot me a PM when you can!! ).
  7. I'd say you are both very lucky, dear girl!! Happy Val's Day. I would tell you all about my sweet Irishman and all he has done for me, but I will instead, just point you to the Gluten Dude's blog in the coming days. My love letter to the hubs should show up there shortly. He is my "Anam Cara", a Celtic phrase meaning ( roughly) "my friend of the soul...
  8. OKAY, NOW I get it .... Thanks for clarifying. And I have a dark sense of humor, too, believe me. I guess I was just confused by the original wording. and what you said was your intent (originally)........ Okay, then... If you are trying to paint to someone that when first starting out on the road to recovery that it is like climbing uphill with...
  9. That makes 2 of us! something got lost in translation and some major editing...... I think I'll just say good night.
  10. No problems whatsoever for me in hotels. You will not be glutened by sheets and towels and cleaning agents. Like Shroom, I have a hard time sleeping through the night on an uncomfortable bed but lately, I've had great luck. I can't wait to go to Florida in 14 days, 11 hours and 5 minutes....but who's counting.
  11. You wrote this in the "coping section" so, I guess I also interpreted it as you are finding this so difficult that it requires a herculean effort (it does sometimes, yes) and you are not doing well with it at all. It's not very clear, to be honest. I would not have guessed you were directing your thoughts to the family members of a celiac as you originally...
  12. enjoy!!!!! ....I LOVE flourless chocolate cake!! HBD, Caselynn!!
  13. he says that right here--and I posted it earlier in the thread. Open Original Shared Link
  14. Thanks. I got the idea by watching his interview and reading his blog articles. I just do not agree with everything he says, that's all I am saying.
  15. I was not directly quoting him. If I were, I would have cited the page. I used "italics" around my summation of what both these writers seem to be saying. Read what I said in its entirety. And I happen to be one of the celiacs who believe that wheat IS a problem for people who are not celiacs and who are gluten intolerant, but I do not think that...
  16. The startled skunk walking by the open window in summer just about kills me.
  17. I agree on the "alcohol smell" after a binge. No question!! I agree on the "sick smell" too. That's perspiration coming out your pores, right? but if we're gonna ooze after a glutening, wouldn't we smell like a bagel?? Just sayin. I can smell things no one else can, too. Really, I have "super nose" (the hubs thinks I am nuts sometimes.) but...
  18. Could you do us dinosaurs a favor and not make the font so small so we can't read it without our "cheaters"? Thanks, honey! Okay, to answer your question: Nope. So, I asked the hubs.... and he said " huh? No!" and I honestly cannot imagine how this would provoke a "medicinal smell" by emitting it through your skin, BUT it is very interesting...
  19. Not a good vegetarian here either. I love meat. I admit it. It's a moral dilemma for me as I love animals. I wish I could be a vegetarian or even a vegan. I do not think my muscles can recover without the meat protein right now. And I feel bad when I look a cow in the eye. I cast my eyes down in shame when we pass by the neighbors' farms. I will...
  20. I can relate to this sentiment on every level, dear girl. It was my husband who kept me from going mad when I was at my painful, sickest worst and our love only grows more with each year. He's my rock and my heartbeat and I light up like a firefly when I hear the door open and he yells," I'm home, Babe!' A bit mushy and goofy, I know, but I don't care...
  21. Colleen! Have a relaxing and restorative vacation, hon . We leave for Key Largo in 17 days, 20 hours and 15 minutes..... Not that I'm counting or anything.ENJOY!!!!!
  22. Just to reiterate, as difficult as it is, please stay on gluten until your biopsy----for the most accurate result. FWIW, I had what was called "Plantar fasciitis" too. "itis" which means " inflammation" -- can occur anywhere in the body with a gluten problem. In 2007, (before DX when I was very ill and did not know why) I had to have special...
