  1. Considering I know the pain you are in, that's a lot of cooking, honey. I hope the doc can help you ASAP. xx I am so sorry to hear this, sweet girl My back and neck are squawking at me, too today. Dammit, this celiac-related pain just plain sucks. There, I said it. So, I got the Taza Chocolate Mexicano sampler for the hubs to try...
  2. Guys. Make this! Butternut squash, leeks, goat cheese and toasted hazelnut gratin One of my old tried and true favs and I made it again today after a long time.......and the hubs said "outstanding, babe" You will not be sorry ! . http://www.epicuriou...azelnuts-240412
  3. I do not think jhol is laughing at you, Opa. I doubt she meant to be disrespectful. Please do not get upset. Jhol, those of us who are celiacs and severe gluten intolerants do not eat any gluten. We cannot afford to poison ourselves. We do not do the gluten free diet 90% of the time. We do not dabble in it, hon. We do it to stay alive. If you have...
  4. bravo You're a nutball. (and I like that in a girl.....)
  5. Once we teach 'em how to use 'em , there's no stopping 'em now. Thanks for the well wishes, Colleen! xx If I can survive the Blizzard of '78, I can survive this one too. (that one was a doozy!)
  6. We have a blizzard bearing down on us, so I just made some rolls, and I am making bison chili for backup and for dinner tonight: Roasted chicken. Sage stuffing with apples. Sweet potato, carrot, apple and cranberry gratin Butternut squash, goat cheese, leeks and hazelnut gratin Tossed mixed greens, radishes, cukes, yellow baby...
  7. "getting along tickety boo" --now, that expression made me smile! Yeah, I'm afraid if there's no label, it's a scary mystery item. Like those Alice in Wonderland "eat me" packages? Best not to eat them. Sorry you're in discomfort........and this too shall pass (literally).
  8. Thanks so much, Lindalee! I did read it last night as well as other articles on Roman troops and wheat rations and I saw that this author Sayer Ji, concluded the soldiers were deprived of their wheat rations which made them "irritable" because of withdrawal symptoms. This is based on no historical evidence. He uses the more current gluten opiod receptor...
  9. Thank you, Lisa. There are articles that seem to dispute the author's claims, but I found the article very interesting! An Army marches on its..... wheat belly? this would bring your number up to....???
  10. Now, that is an article I would love to see!! Please post it or give a reference link.
  11. If you said it was white or all water and burning upon expulsion.... or anything else, I'd say, maybe there's something going on. But a formed stool and "passed" without any strain, pain or blood? Not anything I'd worry about.IMHO Could very well be "colorful" because of the veggies. You should see mine when I eat beets The majority of...
  12. I found this a little disturbing: Dr. Davis is now claiming Celiac is NOT a disease. Open Original Shared Link
  13. Oh yeah. I have a pic of me where I look as if someone had injected me with air. Think the Michelin Man. Edema--even my knees were fat when I was deathly ill and headed towards emaciated. Now that I have reduced some of that inflammation? I look like I lost a lot of weight, even though the jeans are still a bit snug.. So, yes, I still have some ...
  14. Yes please---I'd love to see them! Skylark and I spent a long time looking for these types of articles on Pub Med--and she had access to other sources as well--and if anyone ever finds anything, they should most definitely post them!!
  15. I ate oats my entire life. My favorite breakfast since I was very small was Irish steel cut oats, Quaker, whatever was available. After DX, I waited 2 years before trying them because I had read that was "recommended". . My GI doctor said there's no reason not to eat them if I want. They do not cause me any trouble whatsoever. In fact, they work...
  16. No, hon, that was not my link that was posted (I believe cavernio posted to those studies).I just added the discussion that occured as a result (from an older thread). The thread I posted the link to states the opposite--it is not a "gluten cross-reaction". I wanted you to be encouraged by what the science had to say, not to make you overly concerned...
  17. "Adipose tissue" makes it sound so much better than the "f--." word. Yes, any weight we can take off the bones and joints is beneficial. You know I'll cheer you on!!. I've got the same amount to lose
  18. That about sums up Upstate New York in winter. A girl can only eat so many root veggies and squashes. Cannot wait to get to Florida in a few weeks where can walk to the most amazing produce market every morning and get the freshest veggies and fruits, then over to the fish market for the fresh catch of the day (or just go catch one myself ) .
  19. and don't think it has gone unnoticed., lazypants.
  20. That's still not doing what you want, hon. Try this, Colleen. http://www.sherv.net/cooking-emoticons.html Then, choose the one you want and right click on it , then left click on "copy image". (I really had to think about that to explain it because even though I do it quickly now, it took me some time to learn--- and I hope it made sense)
  21. Lovey, oh boy! I love classic Pommes Anna! YUM (not fitting into the current "weight loss menu", however, so please eat an extra portion for moi? ) and pecan butter tarts too? you're killin me, girl
  22. I love this one too: "Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from weak minds."
  23. Not sure if us dinosaur types are inspiring---- or just plain stubborn and unwilling to accept NO! for an answer. In my case, I go by the "plan B, C, D or even E" rule in life BTW: I noticed you added the Albert Einstein quote to your sig line. We're fans in this house. And that's a good one!!
