That's great Jane. Did you go to Dr. Gusten as I suggested? just curious. -
ARCHIVED Old Bay Seasoning
IrishHeart replied to Bella001's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Did you deep fry those wings? that can cause some bowel issues. OBS is gluten-free, but maybe the spices are too much for your gut? If you are concerned, try this---make your own Old Bay seasoning (recipe below) and see if you have the same reaction. Open Original Shared Link or try a baked wings recipe to see if the same thing happens. -
Hi Courtney, I don't think you're doing anything wrong, hon, but I do see many people report this same thing often. It could be gut flora imbalance (do you take probiotics?) or the most common additional intolerance: dairy. I'm just suggesting something here: take out dairy first, see if it helps? If you continue to have gastro issues, perhaps you should...

I hope to open the door this weekend, too for some fresh air ----they claim it may hit 50. Well, I tried to "entertain" all of you via email.....if I missed anyone, I beg your forgiveness. I could not get that to post here. (maybe he was too hot?) Sora and Love2 --he can melt the snow. Hubs is having the same as Patti! White pizza. I... -

They are specifically made for people with salicylate and gluten intolerances, so YES--they are safe. I have used them They have nothing in them that are harmful at all. -
ARCHIVED Help Needed Please Re: Glutening
IrishHeart replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ski pretty much answered your question for me (she knew I was off getting my neck and back adjusted at the chiropractor......and thank YOU very much, celiac ) ah, it's a blast, isn't it? and I was always the one in the middle of the back seat, since I was the baby of the family, swooning with car sickness and balancing my feet on the "hump" that... -
ARCHIVED Help Needed Please Re: Glutening
IrishHeart replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Mo, I understand your frustration. I really do. I have to squash frustration all the time. I can't tell you how many times at the beginning of this healing thing when I thought I was home free and "cruising along" and bam!.....nope. I had a lot of good days/bad days up -and- down stuff for many months, then it all calmed down. (the GI stuff anyway... -
ARCHIVED Help Needed Please Re: Glutening
IrishHeart replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I used to react quickly (I called myself a fast-responder") , now I am on "tape delay" so, figuring out where/when for me is like driving in Boston traffic. In other words--nearly impossible. I know sometimes I get gut swelling/histamine responses from OTHER foods like sausages, salami, tomato or too much cheese. Could be you're still healing... -

whatsamatta? you guys lonely?? IH is down for the count. Bad, bad neck and back pain and a high histamine response going on. I know waaa, waaa I'll live. Sorry you found out the "gluten bites you back" thinger, love 2. Like you need more celiac symptoms. Okay, I am forcing myself to make bison meatloaf and sweet potatoes. ... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Do The Rotation Diet When You Are Limited In Food?
IrishHeart replied to 123glldd's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I answered this in reply to your PM, but I will post here as well. You can try the Failsafe Diet. Open Original Shared Link of course, it goes without saying, but you have to eliminate the gluten grains, too on that list! Works very well for taking out any potential foods or additives that may be bothering you. I know you are very anxious to... -
Soy is not harmful to celiacs, but many find they may develop an additional intolerance to it. (I am one of them) This does not mean all soy is cross contaminated. We see this "3000 ppm of gluten in soy" posted frequently on here, but no one has ever actually posted the scientific SOURCE of this information. It would be very helpful if you could...

ARCHIVED Opinions Requested..gastro Doc Sent Me A Letter...
IrishHeart replied to designerstubble's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
SkiLisa and Karen are giving you brilliant advice, and I will just add: It takes as long as it takes. Sorry, but that's the truth. This is not a road race, but a healing journey. My GI doc (a celiac-savvy and compassionate one) says "every year is a healing year" I took a long time to start absorbing again. But I'm getting there! You are... -
ARCHIVED Aaaagghhh... Ginger Ale?
IrishHeart replied to Em314's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ginger ale does not contain gluten. I cannot drink any bubbly sodas. because I cannot handle all that sugar.... and if it is "diet" that fake sugar stuff is a direct run to the loo for me.. Best to stick with water for now. -
ARCHIVED No Celiac
IrishHeart replied to razzle51's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
well, I was going to say pretty much what Karen said, so I'll just say "what karen said" and since I went most of my life not knowing why I felt so bad, had horrible symptoms progress in the last 10 years and pretty much was ready to die, I am one of the few people who said : "I have Celiac! Hot damn! whoohoo!" because I knew I had an answer... -

ARCHIVED Soy Sauce Flavor Alternative Suggestions?
IrishHeart replied to Celiac Mindwarp's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Balsamic is okay, gluten free. (I have never seen a vinegar except malt vinegar that was a danger to us) but I am sure someone on here will argue loudly with me about that. Molasses is pure cane sugar, but if you want to use it, I won't tell a living soul. -

waa waaa I want one of those!!!!!!!!! -
Sorry, I should have been more specific. If you have allergies to foods that are high in salicylates, and they provoke those symptoms, they can do IgE skin prick testing. An actual " SA intolerance" --there is no test for that (that I know of) although I did read one Pub Med article that mentions a way to determine it via provocation and biopsy of...
