  1. You're just preaching to the choir, Ski! hey, all I did was "recap the last 5 posts about bacon ". You people are the loopsters! I am perfectly sane. Great article. Written by the same author who wrote The Whole Soy Story. If you are still eating gobs of soy, read that book. You won't eat it again.
  2. Scrambled brain ...that goes with bacon.... a Kevin Bacon... made of bacon! Brilliant and tasty. Cabana boyz made of bacon too? even Marilyn's roommate whose bacon is now fried because he did a dopey thing. that's funny, suddenly , I want bacon.
  3. Oh yes, I get the itchies if I get glutened, too. I just wait for it to subside. I have never found that anything like Benadryl helps me. Most people take Benadryl and pass out sleeping, but I am wide awake and feel like I am jumping out of my skin. Gluten agitates me, so I am more likely to have insomnia and a banging, erratic heart from it, rather...
  4. Same thing with my Dad. He scratched himself silly. No visible rash. He was surely an unDxed celiac, given his many symptoms of severe anemia requiring transfusions, GI problems, etc....... but he also went into renal failure near the end of his life and one of the complications is insanely itchy skin. No topicals worked for him at all. Poor guy.
  5. One thing about pity parties is...they do not last very long when there aren't many guests. Hope you feel better soon!! If I were you, I'd have a go at a carton of Haagen Das ice cream (if you can eat it ?) and not share a single spoonful with Mr. Wisearse.
  6. Look! She morphed into 2! cool . Poor guy is starting off on the wrong foot already....tsk tsk Poor guy probably has no idea how close he came to getting his ass kicked.... right, Marilyn?
  7. and for added inspiration, this guy (whom I think resembles Johnny Depp a bit) would like to apply for a position as a cabana boy....
  8. Here's a little cheerleader for us ALL to continue doing what needs to be done as we collectively kick the celiac monster and her b%$@#y friend Ms. Inflammation's butts into submission. GO DINNER CHAT TEAM!!
  9. Good luck with your new regime! yes, losing dairy (and grains and legumes..... and booze ) is a tough one, but I've done it before and I can handle it for a month or so (she said with enthusiasm....) Fingers crossed!!!.
  10. I will be wincing myself ----as I am unable to eat eggs alone without nausea (can do them baked IN things) and have no clue what's for breakie...except ..encores. Coffee with full fat coconut milk and no sugar was....er, um interesting. and when 5:00 happy hour rolls around soon....I may be wincing then too.. I am doing this for the sole purpose...
  11. Roasted Chicken, sweet potatoes, carrots and coconut oil. Ditto.
  12. Or worse. News at 11: Crazy ski-goggled woman caught taking semi nude pics of bronzed young men. Claims it's for a "secret society of women who need them for their enclosed private compound to perform various duties such as shoveling, serving drinks, eating gourmet meals and just being hunky. Possible reanimation of dead handsome male celebs also...
  13. My beloved Grams is a lot farther away than that (wherever heaven is) but she did enjoy one or two packaged things. Corn Flakes is one. She loved them! with the milk that came every morning from the dairy truck. In glass bottles. (gawd, I'm old) ...and I always picture us together in the backyard, shelling the peas she grew, or grinding the meat from...
  14. Updated 1/2/13 Some advanced members felt this explanation of using the multi-quote option would be useful to new members.
  15. Should I add a link to it? Good idea, K! I can add a link to this easy mini-tutorial. I'll do it right now.
  16. I have to giggle because like Marilyn, I found one (I think it was $7 maybe? ) at Walmart's when we were in Florida last year. I decided I preferred direct toasting and not the bags and so, it became part of the traveling kitchen we lug around.
  17. "denial."..........yup. .that works.!
  18. Addy, hon--maybe you are just messing with me now (as you sometimes do ) but I can pronounce some "unpronounceable" words too, but I am not going to eat them. When I said "to avoid a list of more than 5 ingredients," I meant packaged foods that include so many preservatives and chemicals that they are no longer healthy. Propylene glycol Cochineal...
  19. It was, I admit it.......that balsamic syrup is heavenly.. ........just getting ready to have the pots au chocolate and the last glass of Veuve Clicquot Cheers!
  20. On, honey...when it comes to culinary advice, the pearls of wisdom that drop from your lips are all we should ever hear. Thanks for the "back up." We. adore. You. P.S. How is the snow.??............and how are those Yummy cabana boyz???
  21. As I have said many times (to the boredom of the entire internet world, I am sure ) .............If you cannot pronounce it, you should not eat it. (what can I say? I am married to a chemist and I think if my Grammie did not eat it, neither should I) Rule #1 for newbies reading this thread: If something has more than 5 ingredients and you cannot...
  22. defiant and fiesty! ..(love that in a gal)
  23. ....might be trails of tears by the end of the week for me sans gin ...man, I sound like a boozy tart
