IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
okay, I see you are starting with the right attitude, there MW, already looking for ways to cheat (my kind of girl) ....But, it would still be 30, since there are 31 days in Jan. Can you tell I am very good at rationalizing cheating? I am standing up and applauding you right now, Ski . I am over the moon happy for you because I know full well... -

tom sawyer and painting the fence... oh boy, a cheese splurge! enjoy! Stilton is delicious and I could see you putting it in just about anything, except maybe a smoothie. I'm back on the Whole 30 come Jan. 1. It's a bit radical, but it helps to "reset" and determine what foods may be giving you grief. If you want, we can "buddy up" via PMs... -
ARCHIVED Ummmm...is This Normal For Starting Out Gluten Free?
IrishHeart replied to shellybean's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I hate to say this (because no one really wants to hear it and I understand) but it takes a long time for things to resolve. This is an up -and -down healing path...and it requires MAJOR patience and time. Newly diagnosed people always ask " How long will it take before I feel better?" --and I asked this same question over and over again too--. and...- 14 replies

Sadly, I am not allowed to use the mandoline as I am accident prone, but hubs can work it and I am so glad--- as it helped me make the best potato gratin EVER on Christmas Eve. I always made it just fine, I thought, but this recipe? is crazy good.! I added a good dash of nutmeg (because I like it in most creamy, cheesy or egg dishes.) http://leitesculinar... -

You can spread it on cold --works just fine. I used it on buttered toast that way. I served it room temp for spreading on crackers so it was not too thin , but I did heat it briefly in the micro in a small ramekin for spreading on burgers. -

Sorry, but I have no idea what "undigested plaque" is and I honestly do not think colon cleansing for a celiac is a good idea at all. Your intestinal walls are trying to heal. You may just want to let things "be" for now.- 14 replies

ARCHIVED Dr. Peter Green - 2012 Cdc Conference
IrishHeart replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have great respect for Dr. Green. However, there are dozens of Pub Med articles that conclude that they are beneficial in treating any number of gastrointestinal diseases, including celiac disease. Of note is Dr. Fasano's research work regarding leaky gut junctures and healing the intestinal barrier, with probiotics as one of the options. ... -

I have eaten dinner at WE (wheat eater) friend's homes without problems. It can be done. But, I brought a flexible cutting board for them to use and I oversaw every step of the preparation of the meal, helped with the slicing and dicing and looked at labels, etc. It was fun and no one was upset or worried. I brought a gluten-free dessert for us... -
