  1. Indeedy. I've got mine on, sister. It has been gorgeous here!! 75 and sunny. I mowed the front 1/2 acre and the maples have opened and our apple trees are in bloom and I kinda teared up. it's the last time I will see it. This is a mixed bag of emotions I have going on.
  2. I think I know why hang in there. I am making a pork tenderloin, baked sweet potatoes with drizzled maple syrup and some roasted asparagus. I never get tired of asparagus. Sorry, I just don't, even if it makes yer pee smell funny.
  3. whoohoo!! Go get 'em girl! and if you get it, we'll all have chocolate!!
  4. A clean washing machine is a good washing machine. I have never done that one, but I have put the wet clothes in the dryer and then, failed to start it. DUH! well, Amy if nothing else, you are convinced of the reality of gluten head and no matter what your test results say, I think you know what needs to be done. now, if you will excuse me, I have...
  5. YO! NotMolly AMY! How are you doing hon?? Still okay?
  6. It's not practical ...as we will not be going directly from this house to that house. (long story) but yes, if had been easy, you bet I would be taking most of them with me. That's how they all got here!
  7. yes, about 125 of them.! there's a.farm on the east side of the property .sometimes, they wander over....
  8. I agree! Life is very good indeed! Well, I liked that pot roast in the slow cooker thinger so much, it's happening again today. We've got a new fridge coming today (the last thing I am buying for the new owners; they can replace the cabinets!) I have some gardening to do and I have hundred off books and CDs to sort through, donate, pack up or throw...
  9. This was my Dad. (And his Dad, too.) He spent all day out there, patiently working, tanned and happy. It's funny, but people knew my Dad's tomatoes (even if they never met him) as his plants were prolific and so, he shared buckets of them with everyone who in turn, shared them with their peeps. When he died, someone's comment reached my mother via the...
  10. well, my friends with the gluten-free cafe are carrying Strawberry Glutino Pop tarts and they asked me if I wanted to try them. I said no, but somehow, they landed inside my house. (did I take the box anyway?gee, I am not sure):-D I should not have them because they are: (1) high carbs (2) high histamine-inducing (3) fattening as all hell (4) totally...
  11. I am not sure why I just recalled a few gardening quotes (but if you'll bear with this old English Prof. for one second, I'd like to share ) "My Garden, like my Life, seems to me every Year to want Correction and require attention." ---Alexander Pope, 1736. but of course, this one is also lovely and was part of my Dad's eulogy that I wrote and...
  12. Happy Cinco de Mayo!! I make margaritas from scratch, but I am sure the mix will be okay for you. I am making chicken nachos for the hubs, grilled tilapia and mango salsa for me. I have been avoiding carbs, but today, I'm going for some black beans and rice. (between the gym and dumpster hurling, I'm really hungry and needing something with "oomph...
  13. For the record, I was not speaking negatively or otherwise about a grain free diet. It works well for many people. I've been on it myself. Josh asked our opinions about other G F sites and communities, right? Well.... . I said "I would not bother" because honestly, I just can't see BUYING any programs just to get info about going grain free...
  14. I would not bother. Living Without magazine is very good.
  15. Thanks, dear Ski and yes, a guest room with full bath is in the plans.
  16. sounds awesome, except for the soy sauce. I'll have to sub in coconut aminos..but, all "do-able"....... thanks, sweets!!
  17. gawd, that sounds DELICIOUS!! (northern NJ chow mein sounds "intriguing") so..... have you posted this dinner recipe anywhere??...and OINK!
  18. We've been to Churchill Downs twice for the Breeder's Cup races, but never for the KD. And I have never, ever worn a big hat there or at Saratoga where we have seats for the season..(too afraid I'd take out others in my wake if I turned left or right----you know, "the celiac agility" we all have and all) the Lucy Ricardo in me might have my wide brim...
  19. Looks like burgers and asparagus on the grill tonight. It's a glorious day here! And even though I shouldn't have it, we're having champagne anyway----as our building loan was approved and well, it's Kentucky Derby Day! (and I do not like mint juleps)
  20. Some people do get mouth sores or ulcers and have issues with their gums from gluten (I surely did) and it is possible that a gluten challenge has sparked these symptoms. How long were you gluten free before the challenge? How long have you been back at it and when is your test?
  21. It's the same here, N. and I agree about the "broken system" part! same here. That swing thing was the worst. And, agree on the getting a baseline for a starting dose. Many people on here report having to adjust their meds (and those are meds of all kinds) after going gluten-free. which is why you need someone who understands how all the hormone...
  22. If there were gluten in any distilled liquor, trust me, I'd be dead by now. Cheers!. "Distilled alcoholic beverages are gluten free because distillation effectively removes gluten from wheat. " https://www.celiac.com/articles/21886/1/Distilled-Spirits-Grain-Alcohols-and-Vinegar-Are-they-Gluten-Free/Page1.html
  23. yes, I always use broc on white pizza or in lasagne....go for it!
