  1. At one point before my DX, the rheumtologist felt I had AS, but I did not have the HLAB27 gene. He also said the gene is "associated with", not predictive of AS. You can have the gene, but not trigger it. (just like with celiac). (and the genetic disease predisposition to AS is polygenic; i.e., there are many genes involved, not just HLA-B27.) ...
  2. The anxiety, irritability and the memory issues resolving --most of us can relate to and that is a very good thing. The lessening of nightmares and insomnia and getting "our old selves" back--ditto. The x rated dreams....hmm, well, in 3 years of reading this forum, I can't say as I have seen that one before, but if they are pleasant, how can that...
  3. If you read the many suggestions offered, you will see that no one says "don't eat gluten dumbass". Eating something substantial during the day so you are not hungry, making a grocery shopping list, embracing the diagnosis--these were suggested, Whatever the reason may be for her username, it hardly means she has a "serious mental health" issue...
  4. You have a medical condition, and being weak in your diet to me means you suffer from pretty bad mental issues. Ideally, and likely, they are gluten-induced, but it really seems like you need extra help right now, even if being gluten free would eventually make them go away. An addiction counsellor might help a lot. You are assuming an awful lot about...
  5. I am always nice, supportive and non judgmental. You know this about me. Of all the replies,at least I gave the OP an "out"--that maybe she lives with Gluten eaters and frankly, I have no idea why you have selected my post to highlight here. And sometimes I honestly wonder why I continue to take the time to help when I get slammed as often as I...
  6. Thinking the same thing and scratching my head here...that makes no sense.
  7. the OP has received solid advice about flu vaccines being safe for celiacs. That's enough for a celiac to make a decision about what to do. For the record, I do not get one because my arm swells up like a balloon and is sore for a week. I taught for 22 years (schools are a breeding ground for this thing) and never contracted the flu. Never. My hubs...
  8. Your claims that "flu vaccines are made from aborted fetuses" is absurd and unfounded. Human stem cells are not always derived from "aborted fetuses".
  9. you are sweet and loving, and trying to let me off da hook....XXOO ...........but trust me, this was plain stoopid!
  10. Since gall bladder disease IS associated with celiac and gluten intolerance (and the majority of my family members, including me--no longer have a gall bladder ) I would say YES! it is related. I had mine removed at 25 because I was so very sick .....and that was just the beginning of all my problems I was not diagnosed until 53, but not before...
  11. My guess is something other than vodka or juices "'got ya". I have never seen a juice with gluten in it. Distilled alcohols are safe for celiacs. I have never reacted to an alcohol from a gluten-containing grain. I have pretty distinct symptoms if I accidentally ingest gluten. There are people who feel that they don’t tolerate distilled alcohol f...
  12. I'm okay, thanks.. it's just "grouchy" and it is just the left one and (fortunately?) it's the same one I severed the nerves in the middle finger when I sliced through it last year. so it could be worse? LOL. I'll live. I just hate it when I'm stoopid.
  13. of course.... along with fire drills. I am so glad you had a good and restful weekend, Ski. You mama bear yourself like mad and you deserve some down time.....And, nice umbrellas! macaroni & cheese with bacon & tomatoes DAMN, girl...THAT SOUNDS LIKE HEAVEN IN A MOUTHFUL and I can't have cheese, bacon or toms right now. but it still...
  14. Amen!!! I think that is pretty much what we are all saying.... and I agree with you completely on the second point. as I said, even if the OP shares a home with others, there HAS TO BE SOMETHING in that fridge without gluten in it.... fruits, vegs, cheese.
  15. This is difficult for me to answer since this would never happen in my house. My fridge would not "be full of gluten" (and that was true even before I was diagnosed) You can't be healthy if you starve yourself all day long (celiac or not), it is not wise to deprive your body of nourishment that way. I am thinking you really did not expect us...
  16. I had a few other thoughts for you, Michael. An exceptionally good book for information is Real Life with Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis and Daniel Leffler Open Original Shared Link Tons of great information, including dietary and nutritional advice (even a discussion about anxiety) from over 50 celiac specialists. as for travel tips, I suggest...
  17. Welcome to the family! Please do not be depressed. We can offer you some help AND it is entirely possible your anxiety is CELIAC-related. (I had it develop and i am not an anxious person by nature at all) Several months post diagnosis and off gluten and it was GONE. Please read this tread I put together to help newbies get started. It has...
  18. oh no, Susan, I wish I had known! I have a big list of NYC places I can share! PM me!.
  19. Hi Susan! I am grateful to you for your list. I had 3 great meals at the Naked Oyster last fall because you recommended it on your list. the owner came out to chat with me and then, I posted on Find Me Gluten Free and Trip Advisor so other Gee Freers can dine there too. EXCELLENT food. Thanks for all you do!!!!!!
  20. which brand? and this thread is 5 years old, BTW
  21. FWIW, I have tried the Katz products and have had no issues whatsoever. I just do not need to have them around while I try to lose some of the weight I gained post-DX, however. Their products are very good.
  22. High life here too, kiddo. Cleaning the cupboards, the pantry, the basement...oooh boy, and whoohoo! I'd rather go to the 4 year old's party wanna swap? Looks like burgers and sweet potato fries (but a salad for me) since it will be all I will be willing to conjure up later.
  23. It would be enough for me to think I have celiac. Your doctor is correct (and this is not easy for me to say, given my track record with doctors ) The term "early celiac" is explained in several celiac articles and: (1)You have a positive TTG (2) and your biopsy result is "suggestive if correlation is in serological testing" Welcome...
