  1. But it will not be a waste of time. It is always wise to rule out a serious autoimmune disease, hon. The main thing is....do you feel better off gluten? If so, give it up and feel well. You do not need anyone's permission to change your diet and and take control of your health, right? I assure you, I eat very well without gluten in my life...
  2. Sure, hon....pull up a plate.
  3. Pot roast It's that kind of a day here....brrr (Sylvia suggested it. thank you, Sylvia )
  4. SKILisa said everything I might have said and more. So, I'll just say: "I agree". Yes, some docs do not have the best bedside manner, but she seems to be willing to follow through with you. When is the biopsy scheduled?
  5. That's the best explanation of NCGI and if Dr. Fasano, a leading celiac expert recognizes what it can do to a body, then I think it is worth considering. Gluten sensitivity can create havoc. So even if you may not have celiac, you can still be suffering from some form of gluten sensitivity ---and being off gluten and feeling well is the only way to tell...
  6. I did everything suggested by an ND and an "integrative MD" for 2 years pre-DX. THAT baloney was "experimenting like a Mad scientist" Drinking this one herbal tea (that has minimal side effects) is easily controlled and monitored. "stinging nettle has possible side effects, including retaining water and upsetting your stomach. Avoid stinging nettle...
  7. Good luck, K. Hope all's well. No need to mention drinking herbal tea--- unless it is contraindicated with a prescription drug. For example, green tea can cause some issues. "Do not use green tea without first talking to your doctor if you have heart problems or high blood pressure, kidney disease, an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism...
  8. I am a DQ2.2 and I have celiac, but is it considered a "rare celiac gene". Some people without a DQ2 or DQ8 gene have celiac. Some people with these so-called celiac genes --do NOT have celiac. This is not a diagnostic tool, therefore. There are doctors who think that if you do not have a DQ2 or DQ8 gene, your risk of developing celiac is low or...
  9. This poor woman is getting her ass kicked and celiacs everywhere should be blasting CBS with emails. "CBS cares"? No, they don't. We are not hearing the whole story here. I only know it because I read the Gluten Dude's blog and he met with JE on Saturday. This is BS. She agreed to a part time role while she heals and her part grew as her character...
  10. Herb-encrusted/marinated pork tenderloin Roasted acorn squash that's it....that's all I got. (I ate too much this weekend on Cape Cod. If you go there, go to The Naked Oyster in Hyannis. Chef is gluten-free and the food....will make you sing. )
  11. I know....sigh, but I do have the GEM of a lifetime GI doc in my corner now! and even HE said it was okay to "indulge in moderation" and it was better than taking NSAIDS, muscle relaxers or narcotic pain meds. Seriously, going out to get the Tart Cherry juice tomorrow. Patti's idea is a good one.
  12. perhaps not, but do I seem like I give a rat's butt what docs think-- because they've been so helpful up to now...??
  13. .....and if you're bombed, you don't notice the pain as much.
  14. I'm glad you said it......
  15. And not crazy at all. Just know that whatever the results, you can still go gluten-free and enjoy better health. There are substitutes for all those "last meals" you think you will miss. We'll help you find them. The truth is, no gluteny food tastes as good as feeling well. Keep us posted. Fingers crossed for you!
  16. This is really interesting, Patti! A few years ago, I had my Dad drinking tart cherry juice for gout which developed with his kidney disease as it helps to flush out uric acid (which of course, causes major pain in the joints). A study out of OSHU in Oregon says it helps with inflammation in muscles of runners/athletes--and you are living proof. Going...
  17. fantastic idea, Ski! How you doing, Kiki??
  18. I have had a cup a day for 10 days and did not notice any significant reduction in the joint pain as yet. I always remain hopeful, however, and will continue. It may kick in eventually!
  19. I am so far behind! thanks for sharing, Babs.
  20. It wasn't you, hon---it was me and my possessed computer. I am on Cape Cod right now and it worked just fine! That's it, then. I have to move here. Thanks for the tutorial Everyone!! and Kiki? hope you're still hanging tough. Caio.
  21. REDRUM thank you ma'am and psshaw! word! yeah baby! we did it!
  22. I did exactly what you said, Gee FREE....and nothing happened. Maybe I am just "multi-quote challenged"
  23. PFFFT! and ACcKK! ....if you say so, Gee! Thanks for the lesson.
  24. I know, Bunz....but I still do it wrong every time...what can I say? I'm a doofus. I go for the cut and paste.
