    ARCHIVED Eggs?

For those of us who can inexplicably eat eggs baked IN things, but not alone, Sylvia and I both saw a short article in Living Without Mag that explains a study done on children with egg allergies. The study concluded that a majority of these kiddos could tolerate them again just fine--if baked in foods (although a few had mild symptoms), so I tried to access...
  2. Chard is my fav, too, and I love spinach.....quinoa is okay in small doses.... Beets..make me hurl we are a strange Threesome!
  3. Hello and welcome! yes, technically....quinoa is not a grain, that's true. So glad you are feeling better! Here is the thing....some of us cannot tolerate OTHER food proteins (for me, it's soy and dairy ) so, everyone has to figure out what works. Never, ever give up thinking you will not feel well or get better!! You will. I...

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

...oh , it's all that! Glad you asked??
  5. She still has the most "clean pets" I have ever seen..... really? a WHITE dog bed for a black lab? Look at how clean it is! they are adorable together. Kudos, K.
  6. Not at all! No one thinks newbies are dim-wits, but gluten- headed people, anxious people, very ill people and scared and new- to- the- diet people---have a lot of questions. You'd be surprised at some of those questions. Most of us try to give answers that seem reasonable. I asked a few doozies myself in the beginning and I got panicky at times...
  7. Bun, I do not purchase shampoo, lotion or lipstick with wheat derivatives in it either. I take precautions like everyone else. I am not arguing this point. In fact, you know me well enough to know I am not arguing at all. We have had many conversations and you know I am all about the "what works for you is all that matters" when it comes to...
  8. That is just the point! New people have enough stress !---and should not worry about unnecessary "gluten phobias" Gluten is not "lurking" on books, door handles, children, shopping cart handles or other people's pets. Germs, maybe but that's another issue. Unless you are kidding right now and tell us so, frankly, I am a bit surprised at you...
  9. All of these things are "possible" hunny, but you are assuming your hands already have gluten on them from ?what? exactly?? and I do not see how this is possible. If people wash wash their hands, they REMOVE any trace gluten . And even when I had long hair, it never ended up in my mouth (unexpectedly or otherwise)

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

yes, me too, Patti...and not just since DX--my whole life.... and I have researched this for years and asked my hubs, the chemist if there is a reason. (cooking temps perhaps? he says "could be") .and I cannot find any explanation for it.
  11. Sweets, I love ya ! First of all, your topical wheat allergy is a different situation.... but to address your other thoughts? .The minute amount of "gluten" in diluted shampoo ( i.e. hydrolyzed wheat protein ) also affecting a "wind-whipped, long haired beauty" (such as yourself) whose hair happens to land in her mouth... or on her glasses? ...

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

Oh Joe...me too...eggs give me grief. NOT baked IN things, but eaten "plain".... No idea why. It just "is". Truer words were never spoken. Thanks for posting!
  13. Aw, K....that's so sweet. Gracie (our Lab) and Maeve the cat used to do that on her dog bed, too....and Gracie did not seem to mind. Labs are so tolerant and cool. I am so happy she has made herself right at home.
  14. I would never suggest that symptom resolution after being gluten-free for a period is a "placebo effect". I would think it is an indicator that gluten is a problem and removing it gave you relief.. GottaSki has said everything I would offer. Why you have pain now is anyone's guess, but the truth is, it takes many months, even years for symptoms to...

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

beware the PMDs well, between this thread and the simultaneous "butchered chicken and the gluten spilling out of the guts" thread we've got running, the poultry farmers should be "calling Fowl" any minute. (oh come on, someone had to say it.... ....what? like none of you were thinking it......?) To the original poster, Carolynmay....sorry...
  16. I agree with Sensitive Me...maybe you guys could try the quinoa flakes as a morning cereal. Yummy with a bit of maple syrup.

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

Actually, this is incorrect. Some of us took issue with your original assertion that "gluten in chicken skin could cause a reaction." So, Chickens are unable to digest gluten and we both eliminate gluten through our skin?---THIS is what we questioned. This is also not about eggs, it's about chicken skin and that you get skin eruptions from...
  18. Bison steak with sauteed garlic, onions, portabellas and swiss chard This primal life is not so bad.

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

I have so many possible replies for you that I do not know which one to begin with, but here goes: First of all, Celiac Disease---is not a food allergy. Please, learn that concept first. Secondly, you are providing a buzzle article (which is someone's opinion) , not a Pub Med or scientific journal article. Here is the author's BIO: Marlene Alphonse...
  20. Just throwing this out there but, isn't it entirely possible the wine did it? "slightly tipsy after a bottle of wine" and you wake up nauseous? All the symptoms you describe ----sound like me after too much red wine. It's not gluten.. But yes, maybe you are intolerant of quinoa. The truth is, trying to figure out a food intolerance when we eat a variety...
  21. Actually, you did say it would get through the skin, but you edited your post after Bartful replied with her response. We understand what you are saying to us, we just do not agree it is possible. Th chickens are thoroughly cleaned and then, most (wise) people clean them again before cooking. Sylvia's post above has your post quoted as: "Bottom line...
  22. So now you are saying that a "marinated or buttered" chicken will magically not have the gluten in it that all chickens will have from the wheat pellet smeared slaughter house? Sorry, but your explanation is getting more convoluted as you go along. I am speaking to all the people who come to this site for help--please, take it from this "for real" celiac...

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

Gluten proteins cannot somehow "seep out through our skin" nor does it seep into our skin. The molecules are too big, for starters. Why just gluten? Why wouldn't every single food protein we eat start oozing out of every pore? Why wouldn't we soak up everything we touch, like giant sponges? Because it is impossible. If you understood the digestive...
  24. what's tonic? tonic water? blech....nope. I told you...tea. Just tea. Could I multi - quote otherwise? You all know I am mutli-quote challenged.

    ARCHIVED Eggs?

I'm sorry.....We eliminate gluten through our skin? I have absolutely no idea what this means. Can you please explain this and provide some evidence ?
