  1. I second this wonderful idea! This woman has generously posted a quick start paleo menu and there are dozens of recipes and meal ideas on her site. Also, one of your early posts says "many milk alternatives have soy in them". Coconut milk and almond and rice milk do not have soy in them. And you refer to your naturopath as an MD. She is not a medical...
  2. Sweet potato chips. Kale chips. Almond butter smeared on celery or carrot sticks. Any number of gluten-free/DF and grain free paleo muffins or other goodies check Elana Amsterdam's site for snacks/recipes Open Original Shared Link
  3. 600? babes, how many burners does your stove have?? take care of you right now. xx
  4. I am going with all these good suggestions ---and the thought that maybe you are still healing? I do not know how long you are gluten-free, but it is a long road to healing and you may just be inflamed and still feeling the effects.
  5. NYC, Long Island, NJ coast---all suffering. Breezy point, Queens...these poor people always get hit..... 9/11 and beyond. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  6. Oh honey! you were accidentally glutened recently, right? You are not absent-minded! it's just damn "gluten head" I am so sorry, Addy, ((hugs)) Some people think drinking this tea helps with that gluten head. I usually double my probiotics, drink extra water to hydrate, take digestive enzymes with meals for a few days, some B complex with coenzymes...
  7. I can give it up, no prob.....I had to do it for almost 3 years when I was sick, but I am not going to like it much, I am sure. yeah, Mw.... I used the juniper berry excuse in my head, then I tried potato vodka yesterday (it's a tuber, right), but let's face it, I'm just making excuses.... and come off sounding like a boozy tart at this point.
  8. No supplements, teas, or herbs (or making sacrifices to the gods) seem to help me. I have decided to just do it full throttle --after doing is "sort of", I went full paleo 4 days ago. No grains, dairy, legumes, sugar , soy (those last three were easy--I don't eat soy at all, sugar whips me up like a 3 year old on Christmas Eve and causes insomnia and...
  9. I've been thrown by the riding lawn mower, but never a desk chair. Yowzers! Be careful, Miss Roda,
  10. Glad it went so well and you are recovering nicely! It's amazing how differently it is done now. I had my GB out in 1985--"old school" style. I have a zipper from my breast bone all the way down, taking a slight right around my belly button. Old surgeon---- thought he was doing an exploratory in addition to the Cholecystectomy. Took me weeks...
  11. Sorry to hear this, hon. Who suggested going gluten-free to you?
  12. I had chostochondritis (as one of many symptoms) before I was DXed. Have you been tested for celiac yet?
  13. Whoohoo! I am happy for you! This is encouraging news. I have gone paleo (again) myself (EatMeat4Good will be thrilled to hear this) to see if I can get this painful inflammation under control. I am told I can by other paleos/primals, so I am willing to give it a shot once more. I have tried it before, but reverted to eating rice because I felt as...
  14. Just take one step at a time. We're here for you. When will they do the lymph nodes, Colleen?
  15. I was thinking along the same lines. Chemo patients benefit from medicinal marijuana, however, some people get more depressed and anxious from it. Proceed with caution.
  16. I said tearfully, aloud and often to hubs before DX: "I just can't be this way for the rest of my life! I can't!" I changed it around. You can, too. You know my story. I could not eat or lift a soup can or even walk much. I lived in hell. If you give in to that negative mentality, you surely will be "this way for the rest of your life". Come on...
  17. Sweetie, In addition to all the good advice you have received, you know I am sending you all positive thoughts for recovery from your surgery. I give you ((cyber hugs)) all the time, but now I am going to go all "mother hen" on you. Eat. Please eat. Drink protein smoothies, too. You simply cannot get the muscle pain you have under control or have...
  18. One could interpret this two ways, Bunz.....in either case, Mazel Tov!
  19. well, T Thank you! and, some of us are trying. Open Original Shared Link
  20. well that's a given in my house, too...........
  21. Agree. One for the veggies, one for the dishes. It's not CC, it's just sanitary and common sense.
  22. Fellow celiacs could be more sympathetic. TSK TSK Like me, this woman suffered for MANY years before she was diagnosed, so she may have some residual complications. It's not "Go gluten free and you are all better" for everyone. Do not judge anyone until you have the facts first. I could never work full time right now as I heal from long unDXed celiac...
  23. Absurdly delicious. Thanks for the suggestion. I used this: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/09/2008_the_year_of_the_pot_roast/ I did not shred the meat or make mashed potatoes (just boiled new potatoes) and it was YUMSTERS!!! yes, I used the red wine....
  24. I am very sensitive and I echo Mushroom's and Patti's suggestions. No need to toss the entire head of lettuce. Take off the outer leaves (which I would do anyway ---as I often get lettuce from local farms and they often use cow poop for fertilizer ) ....wash and enjoy!
  25. Wise woman. (and look at you, multiquoting like a champ).
