  1. Diana, I'm sorry, but your statements are not really making sense. You said: "I have already progressed even before I went gluten free" and "I want to know if progress is being made". This makes no sense. Sorry. Please hear me out and let me try this: My husband is a scientist. He says: To chart progress, you need a baseline. Then, you...
  2. oh yes! I admit, I was walking "funny" when I came out and I was glad to have hub's arm to lean on. And drive me home! And as Sylvia says, have some food prepared and waiting for you at home. And a good movie. Just take it easy afterwards. Let us know how you make out. We care!
  3. Do keep us posted and honestly, hon?...it's no big deal, I promise you.
  4. I go with more protein snacks throughout the day, drink lots of water, take extra Vitamin C and I double the probiotics for a week. I also may take digestive enzymes if my gut is impaired. I find I am a LOT weaker in my muscles and sluggish in the head after a glutening, but also "wired" and unable to nap, so I just try to go to bed earlier for those...
  5. I think it is best for you not to worry so much about the tape measure, hon. You are looking for a total immediate transformation and it's just not going to happen that way. Changes, progress, healing (whatever word works for you) is slow steady often up and down and sometimes discouraging, because it is NOT immediate. I always hesitate...
  6. Absolutely!! Movement... well, brings about "movement". Yes, exercise, walk, move...this will also help.
  7. Three cheese pizza (tapioca flour crust) with green pepper, portabellas, shallots ---but only because the sun came out (thank the heavens!!! and hubs got to golf: whoohoo!) Golf night = pizza. That's just a "given" around these parts.
  8. This is me because I respond poorly to meds and anesthesia however, I know others who have had them done and they went to work after. Go figure. I agree with GottaSki about having someone meet you as you are coming out of the procedure. No hospital I have ever been to for a GI procedure would let you out the door alone.
  9. In addition to what shroom has told you, I will offer you this thought. Try to get the earliest possible appointment of the day on the schedule as you will be fasting the night before. It's about as easy peasy as it gets for a gastro test. It's not at all uncomfortable, it's over in no time, there are no side effects or ramifications and ...
  10. Try a probiotic in powder form maybe?
  11. Guys, I even "played the game" and went to a psychiatric doctor so she could give me some xanax so I could get some sleep. I had raging insomnia and my PC doc wanted me to consult with her. Okay, sure. I just kept telling her, "This isn't like me, honest. There is something really wrong with me and no one can tell me what it is". She said to me "You...
  12. Sounds as if you are getting enough fiber, how about water? I find that drinking a lot of water throughout the day keeps the pipes running smoothly Do you take probiotics? Maybe your gut needs some "good guys" after having a stomach bug. Adding ground flaxseed to your diet may also help. Is brown rice okay for you? Just some thoughts...
  13. We discussed this not too long ago and I found the thread! Maybe there are some ideas in here for you too. Karen did a lot of work putting it together. I also suggest a Koolatron for your car. Hope this helps!
  14. I love saffron, too. Then, you probably would like: Risotto with saffron and veal marsala That's what we're having tonight.
  15. As I was dying a slow death for nearly 3 years, I wrote in my journal : "I am forgetting things and it scares me. I feel so sick, tired, and in horrid, excruciating pain. What the hell is going on? I'd rather be dead than live like this!" (but I did not really mean it, apparently, because I kept fighting for an answer.) I cried a lot (no, more like...
  16. Maybe you missed the recommendations, but we offered that many of us use almond milk or coconut milk on our cereals. Tastes great --and provides calcium and protein.
  17. King Arthur gluten-free Pancake mix is pretty extraordinary. I stay away from it because I am getting chubby. But I am soy free, too and find it delicious. from the package: "Wheat-free, soy-free, nut-free -- packed in a dedicated gluten-free facility." Open Original Shared Link
  18. She will be so pleased to hear this !! Now, you know I meant no disrespect about the Canada question. I know it can swing wildly--just like in NYS. xxoo
  19. I do not drink milk either. I think a big old glass of that would put me under. YET, I can-- and do!!-- sometimes enjoy homemade ice cream, some sour cream and cheese. Oh, boy, do I love cheese. But, it took me a while to get it back--- and now, I have pizza and sometimes, cheese and crackers. Like most things with celiac, take it out, heal...
  20. Oh, babycakes!! gimme 80's any day!!! I'd be the happiest girl on the planet. and just for clarification---where does it go from 80 to 39 with snow-ish?? Canada?
  21. Bison and three bean chili tonight (but skipping the corn bread--which would be de-lish with this-because my muumuu is still not here and my pants are stretched to the limit.....) (and hey! I am a wee bit tired of the gray, cold and rainy stuff the Great Northeast has been suffering since Sunday, Sept. 23rd...but who's counting?.... ) blech...
  22. http://www.occasionalomnivore.com/2009/08/16/msg-free-chicken-and-yellow-rice/ does this work for you? Question---if the "yellow" is coming from saffron--can you just use saffron threads and skip all the additives/MSG in any "mixes" you would purchase? I can't do MSG either and avoid all packaged things for this very reason.
  23. IMHO, if you are looking to be tested, you should stay on gluten until the testing is done.
