  1. This is my motto, too. I knew that Love2Travel would give your her perspective when I told her we had a "silent newbie"! The difference for me was I KNEW I had celiac, (it might as well have been tattooed on my forehead) but you "silent types" have the added burden of not really knowing when you are hit. You definitely have celiac, hon (your...
  2. Everyone has some symptoms, hon ---they just do not ASSOCIATE any of them with celiac. So, you may not have OVERT gastro symptoms, but surely there is something you are overlooking? Take a look at how Celiac manifests in over 300 symptoms, some of them seem to be unrelated or irrelevant. If you do an honest inventory, there is probably something there...
  3. I read it all, too. Hon, the genetic test is not an answer. It is often used as "exclusionary". Many people carry the HLA-DQ2 and DQ8 genes and do not have celiac. It is not a diagnostic tool, okay? Your symptoms--and your family history---sure sounds like gluten intolerance to me. I do not care much about negative testing as this test can...
  4. Hooray for healing ....and a good night's sleep.
  5. Celiac is a head to toe disease because of malabsorption. Since you are already reading what Karen has posted, read this too-- and see how all your symptoms may be linked: Open Original Shared Link
  6. I doubt your bladder is damaged, especially if your tests are all normal. Don't start worrying about that or anything else until you know what the underlying cause may be---which could very well be gluten/celiac. (BTW, I thought Lisa had posted the celiac panel list on this thread (my mistake-- I am answering in two threads at once and they both involve...
  7. Not saliva, not stool testing, hon...you need the CELIAC panel. It is more than 2 tests. As I was posting this, I see you also posted. (and yes, I had heart palps. Many of us did.)
  8. A sibling with celiac disease is enough reason to re-test. It is not "elective" if you have symptoms and a family history. I had terrible bladder and chronic pelvic pain (so bad I could not walk or sit comfortably for 3 years) from celiac and went through all the same docs (GYN, UROGYN, etc. and PT and endless BS) only to find it resolved off gluten post...
  9. Probably not. I would gluten up before the test. IMHO

    ARCHIVED Celiac And Time

I live in the US and in 3 years, we spent over $30,000 out- of- pocket searching for an answer to my devastating health problems. I tried everything, went everywhere and I even did the "alternative and functional med" route. To no avail. And I have health insurance. I just did not have a savvy enough doctor --in the dozens of specialists I saw...
  11. You seem to have many misconceptions about the gluten-free diet. And I am "one of those people" who think everyone would really be healthier off gluten, although I do not "push it" because no one wants to give up their fattening packaged goodies. I also think it is a grain that is difficult to digest and that gluten intolerance is more common than the medical...
  12. I am thinking it may well be. Fingers crossed for you, hon. Patience? oh, honey, we get a PhD in patience with this thing!! (see my sig line about praying for patience)
  13. Hon, any one of us will fan yer face!!!!....no $$ necessary, just feed us!
  14. sounds yummy, sweetie!
  15. Ok, I made vanilla bean ice cream (custardy rich ) and it is ridiculously delicious and easy and I am NOT eating it--hubs is. yum yum yum
  16. Start saving, girl! I will, too! yo!....LOVE 2!! how long before it snows again, sweetie?? Dinner tonight was: the "encore" of stuffed peppers (I never say leftovers) hubs said "delicious-o" and "you can make this again anytime, babe"... Is he the best "audience" or what?
  17. and, there it is!! amen, sistah!
  18. ooooo....she did say you had to shovel, babe (I remember!!) but if we pool all our cash, we could buy a snow blower..I have $6.00
  19. Clafoutis.....You Jezebel, temptress!!!.....if only I COULD....I drool on my keyboard every time you post, honey! and I swear, I gain weight
  20. P, we ALL want to go to L2T's house... EVERY night.... If you start now, you can pick up Sylvia, and then, me in NY and we could be there in a few hours (I KNOW where she is....)
  21. It is a strange concept to understand indeed. It was strange at first for ME to wrap my brain around the fact that this one food protein had been killing me and turning me into an invalid for years. But, it is what it is. Anyone with a brain can grasp it ---if it is explained the right way. Does it have to be dinner conversation? No, not right away...
  22. It's not about eating gluten. It's the issue of CC from a kiss. Celiac is nothing to be ashamed of. Why not be up front about it?
