  1. oh, I just remembered something else...how about smoothies? Not just with fruit, but add veggies and yogurt too.
  2. yum...that sounds good, MO...did you post your "technique" in the cooking section, by any chance?
  3. Interesting. So, do I just request this plain ground pumice next time. They keep this "on hand" do they? I am thinking I may go that route.
  4. gasp! I cannot imagine our Karen being a slip-shod flimsy flosser! (try to say that three times!)

Could be the problem, hon---although MANY folks on here seem to do very well co-existing with Gluten Eaters. I do honestly wonder how they manage that so well? I am very grateful hubs went gluten-free with me (of his own accord, I did not ask) about a month after my DX. His thinking was --for starters, what a pain in the arse to make two of everything...
  6. I see. Sorry, hon. The road to healing is a bumpy ride, isn't it? I always say "Celiac---it ain't for sissies". I am still in some major bone/muscle pain and have a few other issues myself to clear up. Hopefully, you took PRObiotics after those rounds of ANTibiotics? Your gut flora is probably very unbalanced. We need those "good guys". Open...
  7. I can honestly say that I always feel lousy for several days after major dental work because I have trouble with the "caines". (You know, lidocaine, novacaine, etc) Dental molds also gave me grief--but I THINK it is the gums they use. My dentist assures me there is no gluten in the materials and I trust his judgement. He told me has other celiac patients...
  8. Any problems I had before DX---that are similar to those you listed? All gone. Avoiding dairy is easy enough, even though I did not like it. I did it for 10 months after DX. Use coconut milk. I could not eat eggs either. And I had to avoid citrus, coffee, chocolate, sugar, and soy. That was tricky. I had a burning GI tract, so it was difficult...
  9. Yes, I gained back some weight because my gut is absorbing again--as yours will. I plummeted 90 lbs. when I was deathly ill from Celiac and was emaciated and weak. Total loss of muscle tone and mass. Since DX, I have put back about 25 lbs.--- gradually. My muscles are slowly rebounding. I feel much better! I now have to watch it so I do not get too chubby...
  10. There are some articles here, if anyone is interested. Open Original Shared Link
  11. Me, too. The GI stuff passes quickly (pun intended) but the ucky "gluten head" (as I call it) takes a while to subside and I do not like that part at all. UGH!
  12. There seems to be quite a bit written about the autism/gluten connection on the internet. I did find this in the Gluten Files Open Original Shared Link However, one study claims that autism is not linked to gastrointestinal disorders, but it is slightly outdated (2009)] Open Original Shared Link If someone has found other articles...

Absolutely no problems with any oils. None. Extra virgin olive oil, walnut, coconut, canola, palm, cottonseed, safflower, sunflower. All good for me. In moderation. I am not a soybean oil user, however, but that is because I know soy affects estrogen levels and is, essentially, not the best food on the planet (IMHO) I am very sensitive...
  14. He has given you the "standard" advice and he is probably correct--if those are your only symptoms. My doctor advised me to stay off lactose for "as long as you can stand it" , but if you can take the lactaid pills and do all right with dairy in your diet, then Go for it! I hope your healing goes smoothly. If you run into problems, you can always...
  15. If I do not have a protein with a carb, I feel lousy and my blood sugars dive and spike, so in addition to the foods you have listed, I also smear some kind of nut butter (peanut, almond, cashew) on celery sticks, apple slices or on a few Crunchmaster crackers. Nuts work well. Also, I like a little cheese on my crackers. (this was a lot...
  16. Yes, I also have a recurrence of joint pain, anxiety, neurological issues, cognitive impairment, insomnia and a major swing in moods when I am CCed. I hate that part the most. I call it the return of the seven dwarves: weepy, cranky, racy, spacey, dopey, angry and achy. Not my personality at all to be in such a funky mood and this is how I know...
  17. I had to avoid dairy for many months (some celiacs have a secondary temporary lactose intolerance) and because I had a severely burning GI tract, I had to avoid citrus, soy, coffee, eggs, alcohol, sugar, chocolate and too many acidic foods. I had a rough time for many months after DX and I had a pretty bland diet for awhile and gradually tried adding back...
  18. If you mean einkorn, yes, it is hulled wheat, I believe. (whoops, Karen and I posted simultaneously!! ) There is no conclusive evidence (that I have read) that says it is safe for celiacs. ONE study says the lesser amount of gliadin in it "may render" it "less toxic" for celiacs, but I would't risk it. No way! Wheat is wheat in my book...
  19. Yaay! Glad it worked out for you!
  20. But hon, you didn't know about the celiac when you had your children----so you should not feel guilty! You did not "do anything to her" on purpose. You had her out of love, so do not put that on yourself. I feel guilty that I did not know about the celiac when I was trying to have children and had 4 miscarriages. I never could carry to term, despite fertility...
  21. All I can say is: "Dietary compliance" has a very specific meaning to me and comes with expectations. I, too, wonder how many people are as "good" at it as they claim.
  22. sloths are happy little things, as are Hummingbirds, but feeling like we can't even move because of exhaustion--or that sudden, inexplicable sleepy/ dopey head? That is just not right. I felt like crying from the fatigue. And that nervous nelly act??--just horrible. I kept saying to hubs WTF?? I DO NOT FEEL like ME anymore. Honestly, I was all of the...
  23. That may have been me. Despite getting my B-12 up high, I was flagging BIG TIME for months after DX. I was just dragging myself around, which was weird because I had been very wired, jittery, full of nervous energy and a total insomniac on gluten/ before DX. I read about Folate levels being tanked in celiac and asked the doc for a blood test. There it was...
  24. I ate out at Bonefish Grille twice this month while vacationing --a first for me----and all is well. The staff was very gluten-savvy and their menu has been approved by GIG. I was leery (as I am very sensitive to gluten CC) but they did a fine job handling/prepping my food.
