  1. You keep saying you have no celiac symptoms, hon---but an ulcer and colitis--are SYMPTOMS. UC is an inflammatory AI bowel disease and it is not surprising you also have celiac disease. Not to me, anyway. Open Original Shared Link Why did they say it was Un-DXed for 19 years???? Where did that specific date come from?
  2. You are correct as far as I know. HLA-DQ2 qnd DQ8 are considered the genes most commonly associated with celiac disease. DQ2.2 is the rarest subset of the DQ2 (DQ 2.5 being the more common) and from the last article I read, it is found in 1-2 % of celiacs. When I had gene testing done, one lab report specifically said it is RARE for someone with 2.2 to develop...
  3. The chef makes regular Panko crumbs and he came out with these gluten-free/Kosher ones to rave reviews. It may be as best as it gets, hon. You can probably order them off the internet, but if you want, you know I will find some and mail them to you. I managed to make it this far in the car--1500 miles-- (I do not have to tell you about painful travel...
  4. also, check the recipe and product sections in the forum for other tips and when in doubt, just ask! But since you already know how to eat on a healthy diet, you should be fine!
  5. Hon, with all due respect, I do not think anyone is being confrontational with you. We are offering our best advice, our combined years of experience and knowledge and helping others be less worrisome while learning to negotiate the gluten free waters. Someone asking another member for a source is not " being difficult or confrontational", but just seeking...
  6. Four days? From your lengthy list of cultures, I'd say at least 2 weeks
  7. Glad I could help. Get yourself a copy of Cecelia's Marketplace gluten-free Shopping Guide. She also has a gluten-free/DF/Soy free guide, too---which really helped hubs and me when I was first DXed and I could barely think, let alone create a shopping list. I could not tolerate dairy or soy either back then. We no longer need it--- as we...
  8. Glad I looked at this thread this morning! First quick rice, now Panko crumbs. Jeff Nathan Creations makes All Natural, Certified gluten-free, DF PANKO flakes. I found them in a Whole Foods in Florida while vacationing. (we do not have one where I live and let me say these stores are a celiac's paradise! ) It's a product of Israel, Manufactured...
  9. some marshmallows are okay (read the labels) Single ingredient McCormick's spices have never caused me a problem. Cecelia's Marketplace gluten-free Shopping List is a very helpful resource to purchase until you get the hang of shopping. Maltodextrin and dextrin are fine. There is a list of safe/unsafe foods in the articles section of this website as...
  10. To answer the original question posed by the OP. Nope! Unfortunately, I ALWAYS have symptoms. Insomnia, agitation, nausea, headache, ramped up horrible muscle/bone pain, brain fog and anxiety and the ever-popular bowel issues. For a week or longer. Always a fun time.
  11. An ulcer IS a GI symptom (often found in celiac) and if you were to really examine the list of celiac symptoms, related conditions, and associated autoimmune diseases, my guess is you would find you have other symptoms as well. Neurological? muscle/bone pain? skin eruptions? insomnia? Something is going on. Otherwise, how do you know "you have had it for...
  12. I have read your story on other threads and find this almost as ridiculous as my own experiences. I am healing my gut and resolving vitamin deficiencies, etc.-- but I still have bone/joint/muscle pain and slow regrowth of my hair. I am, indeed, a slow healer. I do not know why your PCP finds this diagnosis to be questionable at all. Frankly...
  13. Sadly, the "medical professionals" say fecal and saliva testing are not valid. Enterolab testing is being "poo-poohed". And I am not sure why, to be honest. Some say it is because "he" is not publishing and peer-reviewed. Okay, I understand that part. I really do. Yet, the very same saliva test (for genetic testing) I did with that lab?...
  14. Gosh, sorry hon. I know from your other posts that you have recently been questioning a case of refractory sprue? so maybe there are other factors at play as to why you cannot tolerate this pasta? (not necessarily gluten cc) I hope you and your doctors can figure out what's going on soon!
  15. I think we are, from all our discussions on threads and in PMs --and someday, we will meet and put it all together. xxoo IH
  16. Uncanny? no, LOVEY, my sweet---I'd say it's in your blood (mine too)
  17. Man, what a culinary festival THAT would be...... Count me in!
  18. Just to qualify: I meant "worthless" in regards to being VALID for seronegative people, that's all. I am not disagreeing with you regarding the testing not being perfect nor am I disputing what you said or arguing the point. I am saying essentially the same thing and wondering (just aloud here--I am not asking anyone to be a doctor) what can she do...
  19. No, I think we are just reinforcing each other, actually. I think many people have written about the same issues I had trying to be DXed---that is what drew me to this Board in the first place. I am sure my story is in the pre-DX section somewhere. Doctors are reluctant to DX without the blood panel and the biopsy. In the end, it comes down...
  20. methinks it's the chocolate/sugar, J! Feel better soon (I HATE migraines )
  21. Don't mind at all! I diagnosed me, brought it back to the Primary care doc who reviewed everything with me and said "OMG, you're right!" Why he coud not see it for years everytime I went back in with symptoms is beyond me, especially since he has 3 kids with celiac. The NEW GI doctor I went to read my various reports, saw the many errors made (including...
  22. Me, too, and when I indulge in packaged goodies, I almost always feel--as Josh would say--crappy
  23. Going by my Dad's "mutt theory" then---You and your children must be absolutely gorgeous.
  24. But, Josh, by using the phrase "they say they're gluten free but...." you are implying that artificial and "natural flavors" contain gluten because you "feel crappy". Do you see how this is misleading/confusing to a reader? What does crappy mean? Nausea? bowel issues? headache? Once more, I am going to suggest to you that it could be the cinnamon, the...
  25. Maybe I misunderstand what you wrote, but.... if they are present, you ARE ingesting gluten. if they are absent , that does not prove you're not? so, in essence, the test is worthless? I am seronegative myself, so follow up testing is worthless on me anyway. But if a person was POSITIVE on blood work before DX and then going gluten-free,...
