  1. Laughter--always the best medicine! Take care! IH
  2. The doc told me I had classic one-sided migraines, but they do not come regularly now. When I do get one now, it is from muscular tension (my muscles took a huge hit from celiac) but I can sometimes get it under control. The hard part is the blurred vision, light sensitivity, nausea and wanting to hurl. My head bangs so hard, I want to curl up and die...
  3.  FAB! Just totally FAB!! I love you guys!!! Thanks a gazillion!!
  4. O M G!!! --I thought my stories were absurd, but this one calls for the ever-popular WTF???? "allowed to look at??"....what a bunch of BS.....O M G.....Sorry, Jane. (hug)
  5. Yes, honey---those perimenopausal doozies DO lighten up.Mine are gone. (having a total hysterectomy hurtled me through menopause like a rocket) My migraines, which plagued me for about 15 years, were a combo of hormones, probably long-unDxed celiac, and Stress (oh, THAT again!) I had "life stuff" going on, much like Caroline (for me, it was multiple...
  6. Just to clarify, (although I can't speak for others) , but is not a "weird competition" or "lack of understanding or support" that prompted me to simply ask for clarification/proof re:some things you said. I am not being disrespectful or rude or non-supportive. Not at all. (I think many will say that I am always respectful and supportive. ) My aim...
  7. As this was part of your original post, I feel it may have been lost in the wandering posts that followed (sometimes known as "thread hijacking" on here ). Both Skylark and Gemini offered valuable suggestions for reducing stress and without sounding too trite, may I offer something I learned during the last few years? I was in chronic pain, ill and under...
  8. Thank you , Skylark, this is the exact information I was trying to convey. The same factors I list above are explained--in better detail--in this article. But, one of those triggers listed above includes: "Certain foods and food additives can precipitate migraine. These include alcohol, caffeine, chocolates, artificial sweeteners (eg, aspartame...
  9. Hon, that was the main goal of many of our responses. We just want you to feel better. Best wishes to you! Cheers, IH
  10. I am aware of how the carotid arteries work, thanks, hon!. And I am sorry, but we all do NOT know " this causes a migraine." Migraine headaches are not from restricted blood flow in the carotid arteries, but result from a combination of blood vessel enlargement and the release of chemicals from nerve fibers that coil around these blood vessels...
  11. Please do! There is enough misinformation out there and anytime we can educate, I think we should. Good for you--for being so proactive!
  12. I'd like to be clear about what I said, because I suffered MANY neurological problems from celiac. I know full well it affects the brain, I'm living proof, so I am not debating this issue--not at all. I am just not certain there is any evidence that "gluten clogs the carotid arteries up to 30%". I have searched for this data, but I cannot find it. ...
  13. This is the chiropractor who wrote the Gluten Effect, I believe? She also subscribes to the theory of "cross-reactivity" which has been hotly debated here. Unfortunately, there is no proof for that theory as it pertains to various food proteins "mimicking the gluten" in our bodies. There is an entire thread devoted to that on here. Basing statements...
  14. While depression and anxiety are well- documented in medical literature as associated with celiac/gluten, I have never read anywhere that gluten "shuts down blood flow through the carotid arteries" to 30%. I have read everything about depression/anxiety I could find in the Gluten Files and in dozens of Pub Med articles and I do not recall reading anything...
  15. I have not met a single celiac who ever found it that simple. There are almost always complications and other factors involved Unfortunately, that is all the advice that celiacs are given by doctors. After going gluten free, there should be follow-up lab work and testing for other IBD diseases and lymphoma, for example. It's great that herbals...
  16. Hubs has just made his own batch. He used to brew his own all the time, but he made gluten-free beer for the first time. My cousin made her own, too and she liked it and gave him her recipe. If it's any good, I'll let you know. and give you guys the recipe. He likes the Woodchuck, too. But he agrees with you---it's all very pricey, esp. the Green...
  17. Use the SEARCH FORUM VIA GOOGLE --at the top right hand corner? Put in Beer and the threads should show up and you can read what others have posted. My hubs likes Bard's the best.
  18. oh man, THIS IS ME. ...exactly. and although newbies do not like to hear that it takes many months-- even years-- to heal a ravaged gut, it is the truth. There is no set time table for recovery---everyone is different. For the first time in YEARS (and I am 15 months gluten-free now) I am starting to feel "normal" and I have never lost hope...
  19. No one thinks you are "giving Christians a bad name", honey. We are appalled that these young Christians are behaving in an un-Christ- like manner. Messing around with someone's food and causing a life-threatening situation is serious. Making someone else feel threatened and bullied is not Christian in any sense of the word. You and your parents...
  20. What disturbs me the most is.... this is a RELIGIOUS youth group?? No evidence of "loving kindness for your neighbors" here You shouldn't feel scared to be with "friends". You shouldn't have to worry that they are poisoning you while you sleep. And you really shouldn't have to put your food under lock and key. That's just nuts. Where is the youth...
  21. Dump the herbals. IMHO Let your body heal itself off the gluten. I found myself having more symptoms using herbals/remedies suggested by a Naturopath and once I stopped all those, I started to feel better. Unless you have adrenal disease, like Addison's, your tired adrenals should rebound without too many supplements and herbals. Drink a lot of...
  22. UGH! This is the problem in our country. Everyone has a sub-specialty and we get sent here and there. It is maddening. I thought I had temporal arteritis myself (I thought I had every damn thing under the sun--as you can tell--because I had so many horrid symptoms and no one could tell me why) If UKGail is right, you definitely need to have that...
  23. Not sure how good they are Sweetie, as I have not made them myself, but here is a version based on Bette Hagman's recipe. Open Original Shared Link
  24. FANTASTIC!!! Hooray for someone who GETS IT and kuddos to the show/producers for telling it like it is --regarding CC. Thanks for sharing this, Shroomie!
