  1. well, then --looks like we covered all the bases with our thoughts on how CC happens in YOUR case. 1 + 1 = 2 No using the micro at work, I am afraid. (sorry, kiddo) From the way you describe it, I wouldn't have used it--CC gluten worries or not!! Yuck.
  2. I think heidi meant you may have accidentally touched the surface of the micro while reaching in to retrieve your food. It's possible. Unless you wear gloves? She was just offering a suggestion, not implying you eat with your hands.
  3. You said: "I have the same issue at work, and I keep my food covered. I still get stomach pain for hours after microwaving my steamed veggies at work - I did a test with the same batch of veggies at home in the same conditions and there was zero problems." I am sure you do not mean "same conditions"--- as your micro is probably not a pigsty, right?...
  4. You call it easy, CKip--but I call it yummy. Sounds delightful!
  5. Most flour blends ---even the ones I make up myself--are 1 part flour to 1/2 starches, so that's why I asked. Okay, this works! Thanks!
  6. True, that, my friend! We Celiacs are in this together and I would like to help by paying for the postage. Totally serious. You have my email. Okay, let's see, my infrequent (but fun) snacky foods for gluten-free/DF/SF living are: Larabars Enjoy Life Chocolate chips and BoomChocoBoom Bars Nuts of all kinds Craisins Indiana kettlecorn...
  7. I would suggest you post with a topic entitled Need a Good GI in ....NH otherwise, no one will know you WHERE you are located and may not see it and answer this thread, hon! That's what I did and found my new guy!
  8. May I ask for clarification? the link to the crescent rolls says: 1 c. gluten-free flour mix ( rice,potato starch,tapicoa ) what's the ratio? 1/2, 1/4, 1/4? thanks a bunch! IH
  9. This is incredibly kind of you, Gemini!
  10. I have 2 questions for you that may shed some light on this: --just exactly how dirty is the microwave at work? --how long have you been gluten free?
  11. Granted, this is a different scenario. CC in a shared kitchen would be hazardous for anyone. Obvious crumbs on shared tables and counter tops are more dangerous. But that is not the same as using a clean microwave with covered food. Honestly, a thoroughly clean microwave and COVERED food makes it highly unlikely that CC will occur. Gluten CC just...
  12. You are the only one that controls what goes in your mouth, kiddo. You have got to be more careful!! This is not something to mess with. You know this already because we already "Mommed" you enough with it. But I do hope your spleen is okay. Keep us posted.
  13. BTW I was a teacher for 25 years. Believe me, there really ARE some pretty stupid (read as: asinine) questions.... (it is one of the reasons why teachers drink so much. Really.) (JAMA, vol. 4 , Feb. 2002) but, Dani--yours is not one of them--not at all! When I told my GI about what we say IBS stands for yesterday, he SCK. and...
  14. Indeed, kiddo, although the D has oft provoked laughter....have you ever had to use a lined wastebasket in a mad rush because the WC was occupied? How about outside behind a tree? pulled off along a country road? TMI? If we do not laugh, sweetie, we are all doomed.
  15. oh, for the love of mike! ...I just did it again handiwipe please! ...SCK ...doing it and provoking it, she hopes? poor keyboard, coffee, booze, water, rice pudding....yikes KIOS (knock it off Shroomie)
  16. I talked to my doc about this yesterday. He said, "Sure I'll give you a letter for your taxes. No problem. But I gave a celiac patient a letter for her taxes last years and she filed and....later, she was audited." Bummer. Wonder if it sends a red flag? Not sure I am going to bother with it myself.
  17. Well, Dani should be even more confused than she was already. So, we have done our jobs well!! Dani! we sometimes get a little silly on here. Humor--VERY good for the healing process. Now, THAT is not just IMHO, that, is a FACT*! (*New England Medical Journal, Vol. 6: 1998.) J/K = just kidding
  18. wow.......I could say sooooooo many things about this "anal" acronym in regards to lawyers, but I will refrain.
  19. All fish is naturally gluten-free, Korwyn. You should know this by now. (geesh, buddy--there's a newbie reading this!) IMHO (I swear, if anyone disputes the gluten-free status of fish in any manner, shape, or form, IH is gonna get pretty darn miffed. You don't wanna see my dark side. )
  20. IBTD (I beg to differ) and wish to clarify because if you know my posts, you know I almost always use IMHO after offering my thoughts. The key to successfully using IMHO is to offer your two cents, THEN say "IMHO" and then, shut the he*l up. All kidding aside, I am sincerely saying IMHO because what I have offered IS just that. ...
  21. yes, I found those 2 out early on too! One time, I was answering GFinDC guy's question and when I addressed him, it auto-spelled out gluten free. saves some time. I was a newbie and thought it magical.
  22. wow ...here I thought Dublin was so celiac-friendly! No, huh? that's disappointing. Hope you feel better soon, hon.
  23. Welcome to the forum! Here are a few more we might use: the big D--diarrhea C--constipation (yes, we talk about poop quite a bit ) DX--diagnosis GB- gall bladder IBS --irritable bowel syndrome (which we also joke is the doctor's DX when "I BE STUMPED") I told that one to my GI today and he said "good one"! Just ask if you...
