  1. But honey!--this IS normal people food!! It's what many of us eat! It's what I eat and I'm normal. wait for it...... (I just know someone is going to dispute that....karen? gemini? shroomie? lisa? janet? sylvia? peter?.....)
  2. I always provide author and cite sources. And you provide excellent information. So, thank YOU! I quoted you on another thread, too this morning. RE: chemicals.
  3. I second all this! Probiotics are a must! Digestive enzymes are a huge help!...but with one caveat, if you do not mind my saying so. Taking betaine--- if you do NOT have low stomach acid, but rather excess stomach acid ---will cause an unpleasant BURNING sensation in your gut. If that happens, do not use this supplement. IMO
  4. Hope you don't mind, Sky! (it saved me time to just cut and paste! otherwise, I was going to PM you, drag you out of bed and have you write it all over again. ) It's from the last time we "tag-teamed" on a thread.
  5. The referral policy depends on your insurance company, hon. Some do require them, some do not. Do not feel guilty! You are doing all you can to get her straightened out. You're a great Mom! In the end, you both may feel better off gluten. You may wish to be tested yourself.
  6. Recently, SKYLARK posted this informative explanation regarding digesting complex carbs: "We may be compounding our gut dysbiosis and inflammation issues with gluten-free baked goods because they are very starchy and contain gums like xanthan and guar gum that feed the wrong bacteria. The nutritionists in the 1940s who were going purely by symptoms documented...
  7. Just curious...how long have you been gluten-free? Could be you are just still healing your gut and unable to digest some complex starchy carbs. It is not always about gluten and possible CC. I know it took me a while ( 9-10 MONTHS) before I could handle some of the more starchy carbs. My GI tract was a mess. Lactose and complex carbs--the...
  8. I eat the POCONO brand without any problems.
  9. Agree completely with Mushroom --she needs someone to look at all her symptoms collectively. There are people with NO Gastro/bowel issues at all. And I was told the same thing. For years. "If you do not have floating, smelly stools, you do not have Celiac. Plus, you are overweight!" (--well, I was until I lost 90lbs. rapidly.) What hogwash! Okay...
  10. Me too, please!! I lick my screen a lot when Simona posts....
  11. what's a hamburger roll? or the recipe? IT is the sour cream! I have no idea what the ratio of flours, starches, x-gum is etc. is--as she is in a competitive business here and probably wants to keep it secret ...but I can buy one of the flour mixes she puts together and ship it to you if you want! I send them to my Mom and she makes her rolls up and...
  12. MY new GI told me yesterday they sometimes use amitryptilline (low dose) for a short time for IBS patients so the nerves will calm down and the spasms will stop. That makes sense. In bad cases, I imagine it would be helpful. (it just was not the answer for me)
  13. okay, I learned today that Skittles Starburst Jolly ranchers are gluten-free/DF/SF too. If you have a sweet tooth!
  14. I loved every second of it. Yes, walk accomplished. I agree! SOUR CREAM is the "secret ingredient" in the amazing hamburger rolls my friend bakes---the one who owns the gluten-free bakery? They are so light and delicious and she says that is why!!
  15. Gosh, you had energy for that ---after that LONG, busy day at work you had? wow! (should we tell them we "talked" almost all day long on email and that neither us got squat done?? ) I saw that you could sub cream cheese or ricotta, too--and I prefer those to cottage cheese (just a texture thing) and so, please DO let us know. What...
  16. Hi honey! Missed you--- and hope your trip was fun! I have not seen the NEW Kinnikinnick products myself--but if they take less (or NO) toasting time, and actually taste good, I want to hear about it!
  17. Rice is one of the most hypo-allergenic foods you can eat. It rarely causes a problem for people, but it is possible, of course. To feel "kind of sick" from everything makes me wonder...are you being CCed somehow? Do you live with WEs (wheat eaters?)
  18. But, if you think that way, hon, you're going to find yourself eating nothing. That's not good. Let me explain something. Maybe it will help. On this site, for every single product that is posted about ---there will be SOMEONE who will say "I got sick!!" from it. And then, panic ensues. Why? Because people may have different food intolerances...
  19. Yes, I can relate. My Neuro symptoms are the worst for me. CC Glutenings take me down for weeks. Hate that! ugh. BUT that does not make me fear eating! Fear serves no purpose, so I, too, stick with dedicated facilities. Bob's and Pamela's are Certified, but if they bother you, then don't eat them. I thought Canyon Bakehouse bread was good (better...
  20. great minds...I was going to ask the same questions.
  21. Can you post the THREAD for me, please so I can post to it and clarify it. thanks.
  22. Gluten free almost a year and you can only tolerate rice and vegs? Have you been checked out by a GI doctor, hon?
  23. Where exactly did you see that? ... just wondering.
  24. thanks, Nate ---this helped a lot!
