  1. Good plan! Give them a rest for a FEW days, then add one at a time for a few days....There's a lot of trial and error with this, eric...so don't give up!One other thing...probiotics (non-dairy ones) are helpful with replenishing gut flora. They did the trick for me!
  2. I would just caution you to be careful of too many supplements(in my humble opinion). In a gut that is trying to heal, adding things IN can sometimes cause new problems like nausea, diarrhea, etc. Personally, using those things made it worse (aloe vera, L-glutamine, garlic, etc.) Chlorella killed my stomach and caused major diarrhea and just beat me...
  3. yes! for some, soy is an issue (like me) Check your Vitamins? prescription drugs?
  4. People can be gluten sensitive or intolerant but may not develop full-blown celiac disease unless they carry the gene for it. Gluten sensitivity covers a wide spectrum. The treatment is the same--avoidance of gluten in wheat, rye, barley and all the derivatives of it (like malt, for example)that are used in fillers, binders, etc. Gluten is a tricky bugger...
  5. yes. And recovery takes a long time. try to be patient! You're doing all the right things. No gluten getting in otherwise right??
  6. I agree!
  7. Maybe some people can tolerate the low level of CC, but not me, I guess..boo hoo....ah well, another lesson learned! truth is?? It did not even taste that good anyway!
  8. BTW....Yesterday, you asked about testing for allergies and I was trying to tell you there's a difference between food allergies and food intolerances ..others chimed in and I am hoping we did not confuse you too much?? It does get murky Hope not! If I can help clear that up for you, please ask. I think at this point, you are less interested in testing and...
  9. AWESOME!! I cannot wait to do this the next time my family gathers!!!
  10. new jeans..inGENious! uh-oh, hon... what happened???
  11. I had withdrawal, too Eric. A lot of us did. It's yucky, I know. Drink a lot of water. Make sure you eat breakfast. Eat fresh fruits and veggies and PROTEIN in small portions throughout the day. Keep the blood sugars level. Ride it out. Can you tolerate exercise? That helps. As I recall, you are gluten and dairy free, right? I know it feels awful...
  12. The Irish are the most accomodating people on earth. We have been there many times and would live there in a heartbeat if we could. You're going to be so happy there!! This is an amazing opportunity, have no fear and GO and ENJOY!! Best wishes, hon!!
  13. Life IS a "beach" indeed!! The gift basket was a sweet thought , even though you could not indulge. "One day at a time" seems to be a familiar phrase around here. You are doing all you can, Fran and you ARE very brave whether you realize it or not. Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's the ability to go on even when you are afraid (I think...
  14. AcCCKK!!..EMILY!!you beat me to it --can U believe I woke up this morning thinking HLADQ2 and 8 Genes?? You guys are in my head now... Gene Kelly (awesome dancer) Gene Tierney Gene Rayburn Gene Autry Aubergine I dream of Genie
  15. Fran, I am continually humbled by your courage and strength! You're just amazing!! I am thinking of you and have my fingers crossed and will keep you in prayer. Hang tough! IH
  16. I know most of the people on here eat Snickers all the time without a problem, but I ate my very first TREAT last Friday that was not plain old pure food or the enjoy life chocolate in 5 months....yup, a Snickers bar and I was "glutened" for 5 days...anxiety, fog, bowel stuff, insomnia..and HORRIBLE joint pain that made me cry ..it all came roaring back....
  17. well, sure....if the farm hand looked like THAT guy..YOWZER!!..or did ya mean the goat??
  18. That's what I would do, Eric...if you want my humble opinion. I wouldn't go back to feeling that way either for any test!! Wise man!! Stay well!
  19. Post this question separately, okay?? -- so people can respond with their suggestions. The title of your post as it stands now will not get the response you require. If you are looking to be tested for celiac that's a blood panel test and any medical doctor can order it. Again, you need to be consuming gluten for it to be valid.
  20. There is no such thing as a gluten "allergy." If you are looking to see if you are gluten and/or casein intolerant, you need to be CONSUMING these food proteins at the time of testing to measure the autoimmune reaction. Skin prick testing is for allergies. Allergies are different from food intolerances. You may wish to read up on this important...
  21. An allergist uses skin-prick testing for ALLERGIES. Are you being tested for a wheat allergy?? There are no "side effects" that I know of--unless you react positively to the allergen. The area will get red and raised. You will not be "ingesting" gluten.
  22. yowzers!.. are you applying for a patent...this would be a HUGE success.
  23. This GI doctor should be sued for malpractice. He couldn't be more wrong. No celiac should EVER consume gluten. He is woefully ignorant. Perhaps you need a new doctor??? Given your many symptoms described here, whether you are non-celiac gluten intolerant or a celiac, does it matter? You certainly did better on a gluten free diet. I just...
  24. Why on earth would a doctor have you ingest gluten???? What purpose would that serve? I hope you do not consider this! What may be provoking your "attacks"? You may need to give us a bit more info. I assume you mean bowel issues and abdominal pain? Are you being glutened somehow? Are you ill?
