  1. yes! English muffin rings!
  2. We tried those buns from her recipe, too, Sylvia---they were great! They got stale pretty fast, as I recall. We used these baking rings we bought on amazon. Pretty cool. (I still have not replaced my old muffin tins as yet)
  3. oh, Thank you, GFDCGUY!! I truly appreciate it!! (usually schar products have soybean oil and I avoid them) okay...I just looked at those...I have tried those before..they are a bit dry but hey, they are something!! thanks again!
  4. No, it is not good. It is not clear at all then whether it contains soy or not if that is how they label oils on products. But, thanks for your explanation.
  5. I still do not understand this one point I was trying to make...if this company has voluntarily labeled all their products with a "contains milk, soya, egg, sesame, etc " statement on all their packages and I do not see 'soya" listed on the box of crackers, doesn't that mean it does not contain soya? Why would they bother to list all the other allergens and...
  6. I do understand what you are saying. All I am saying is this company has labeled all their products with a "contains milk, soya, egg, sesame, etc " statement on all their packages and I do not see 'soya" listed on the box of crackers. Why would they bother to list all the other allergens and omit it from this one box??? Then, please tell me-- if you know...
  7. A lupin is a legume. It is NOT a soybean. Peas, peanuts, beans...are all legumes. (I tested NEG to all those.) A problem with soybean does not necessarily mean someone will have a problem with other legumes, but if you have trouble with beans, maybe you should not try these crackers. Up to you. I am very aware that vegetable oils CAN be made from...
  8. you betcha, hon! sometimes, a girl just wants a cookie or a cracker!!
  9. Any well-intentioned baker can CC you accidentally. My dear sister made me a gluten-free birthday cake (from a box) last year, but used the beaters and pans she has used a zillion times for her gluteny goodies and then sprayed the pan with generic store brand vegetable oil (with soy and wheat starch binders--we discovered later)and so I ate it and...sigh...
  10. I looked everywhere and found one! It's a cracker from a company called Bi-Aglut. Italian. www.biaglut.com The local gluten-free cafe was selling them. They are pretty good. No dairy, no soy, no mushroom derivatives that I can tell. and just fyi...This site's gluten free Mall sells Enjoy Life cookies. (or at least they used to.)
  11. SOY LECITHIN is in tons of things--especially gluten-free baked goods like pretzels and crackers and yes, candy bars. boo hoo:(
  12. oh goody...we're breaking the rule... 3. Give up dairy for the first few months. (the only good advice I got from a doctor ) Lactase, which is the enzyme that breaks down the sugar lactose, is produced in the tip of the villi and sometimes the ability to digest lactose is decreased and you can become lactose intolerant. This may cause bloating...
  13. I actually discovered an intolerance to soy by "accident". While being tested for food intolerances back in 2010, the test revealed a SEVERE reaction (high antibodies) to soybean...I was shocked. I don't eat tofu, only rarely drank soy milk...so how did THAT happen? Well, because soybean is used as an emulsifier and filler as often as WHEAT protein...
  14. and from me, too..lots of prayers and good thoughts!
  15. VACATION--hooray! now, THAT'S something to look forward to!!
  16. me too! Melatonin, valerian, passionflower...none of that worked for me. Lunesta, ambien, sonata...xanax, flexeril, valium....zip. Then, I would be AWAKE and trembling from the medication... I agree with love2travel--a body that's ill may be unable to absorb and use something that another person can. A doctor told me to be careful of using melatonin...
  17. Ditto here. Chronic pain and gluten made me a raging insomniac since the 90's ...even had a sleep study done. No good REM sleep...geesh, I could have told them that! I had a 3- year run(2008-2010)of maybe 2-4 hours tops every night...I was a wired-for-sound nutcase from lack of sleep and gluten head. Some nights, I just walked round and round my hours...
  18. Actually, for one of my colonoscopies, I woke up briefly and watched for a while....it WAS pretty interesting!!
  19. Frankly, I think the prep (and the anticipation) is worse than the procedures...they put me right out and I did not feel a thing. Like I said...it will be over before you know it, hon! You're going to be okay!! ((hug))
  20. I would echo the 'Shroom's advice here and just add...it will be over before you know it. No one likes these tests, hon...but you are doing the right thing, ruling out what may or may not be going on and taking care of your health. Best wishes. Keep us posted!
  21. Good post, Korwyn! We have "Don't Panic" from a fortune cookie taped to our fridge from 2007--little did we know it would prove to be prophetic. Only 2??--be brief?? Have you seen my posts?? LOL LOL okay, I'll try. Agree with all those posted thus far, BTW!! especially BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE & keep copies of your tests and doctor appts. ...
  22. oh Fran, I am so sorry you are feeling so lousy. Sometimes, as I lie awake from the pain, I have questioned why we have to suffer so much. No mystical answers ever come I have always asked too many questions, even as a child. Why? why? why? Fortunately, I had patient parents who answered me. or sent me to the encyclopedia . (remember those...
  23. I get mine from the health food store and usually, it comes from a local goat farm. It's pretty delicious, I think. I love goat milk cheese too!
