  1. You are so sweet! Actually, I do have a cooler bag like that in my pantry--now I just need to pack it! thanks!!
  2. Of course, you do not need a diagnosis to go gluten-free however, some people need a diagnosis because they need to treat other autoimmune diseases or they need follow up care with vitamin deficiencies and it is good to have someone reliable to work with you. I was very deficient in Folate and never would have known that without a test and I needed prescription...
  3. see...this is what I mean... and good for your Dad, K! Poor guy was just malnourished. Gosh, he must feel like a new man now! The longer the malabsorption, the bigger the issues. This is why when we go to the doctor with all these real symptoms, they reach for the pad to write an antidepressant script ...geesh! That won't solve the CAUSE!! ...
  4. This crazy cat has more than nine lives(she's a real story for another day!) so I am sure she would not only be with me, she would swim to the island with me, find food for me (she is quite the hunter) and then, curl up and keep me warm.
  5. Awesome idea!! We always have a cooler in the car now for water and fruit and sometimes a Lara Bar. But I am thinking I should have one of these bags ready to go with me , too...Thanks for the suggestions!
  6. hmmmm....well, hopefully, MY survival kit would have gluten-free foods in it...otherwise, it is NOT a very well-planned survival kit for me at all! It's funny, but my cousin has suggested having a "to go" kit ready with gluten-free snacks and last month, I found myself in a scary, emergency situation (hubby was in the ER and I knew I would be there...
  7. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun- Cyndi Lauper
  8. seriously....I have begun to wonder how many supposedly "mentally ill" people are not just ill from years of celiac--silent or otherwise
  9. (I should tell you I am avoiding doing my PT exercises right now 'cause this is more fun... ) okay.. Back in the High Life --Steve Winwood

  14. This will be your life, then. She will continue on this path, unwilling to accept that celiac has "silent symptoms" as well... and YOU will be so unhappy. And she will decline in health. As much as you care for her, Steve....it is like dealing with an alcoholic. No one can take the drink (or the angel food cake) out of her hand. She has to give...
  15. The Power of Love- Huey Lewis and the News (I loved those guys--do they still perform?)
  16. Great Balls of Fire- Jerry Lee Lewis
  17. One more thought....every time she "cheats" she is causing cognitive issues. It affected my brain in ways I never thought possible. It happened slowly and insidiously, but I felt the "changes" occurring. It was how I knew something was wrong with me besides what the docs termed "irritable bowel" and "stress". She may not be thinking rationally--or she appears...

    ARCHIVED #*@($ !#*^% Doctor!

I thought that was what you meant...!
  20. Hi love2!! Ditto for me... 4 miscarriages and then, all the dozens of symptoms I developed over the years were still not taken seriously. Until I withered down to nothing. And yes, a good doctor will always believe that a patient's pain level is what she says it is! Why would we make this stuff up???!!
  21. What's New, Pussycat? (whoa, whoa, whoa ) --Tom Jones
  22. She has a serious problem if she is knowingly ingesting gluten. The fact that she got defensive and mad at you over it speaks volumes. And you can't "make her" stop. You sound like a sweet and caring guy, but if she doesn't get serious about her health, she is headed for major trouble. I had four miscarriages (one was a set of twins) and was never able...
  23. The Locomotion --Little Eva (showing my age here )
  24. Want my humble opinion? I would. My test results were Negative. Lots of people get a false negative, yet we are celiacs nonetheless. I think the test is NEG about 30% of the time? If I had been biopsied properly I might have avoided another whole year of hell. MY (former)GI DOC did an endoscopy but for reasons still not explained to me ...
