The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
alex11602 replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We are going to my mom's house tonight to watch the Superbowl (apparently I'm supposed to root for the Giants) and I am making Bacon Cheeseburger Dip, Peanut Butter Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and some oil and vinegar cole slaw. My mom said that pretty much everything she makes will be safe too and I trust her so it should be some good eating tonight... -

With since the antibiotic will be killing off all the bacteria, you need to add back in good bacteria. Feel better! -

ARCHIVED Nausea Every Evening...
alex11602 replied to hillary13's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If it is a problem with your blood sugar you need to find the right balance between carbs and protein. For me, if I have too many carbs like a baked potato with little to no protein I will get nauseous and if I have only protein and no carbs I will also get nauseous. I hope that you get everything figured out and start to feel better. -

ARCHIVED What's For Breakfast Today?
alex11602 replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My youngest was asking for dark chocolate chips in her rice chex for a special breakfast so the girls had that and I put them in my Yoplait cherry orchard yogurt. It was a nice treat. -

ARCHIVED Corn - The Under-Researched Grain
alex11602 replied to Nannu's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The diet of my youngest dictates what the rest of us eat for the most part and she has a big issue with whole corn. She can have cornstarch and a few corn chips (they have to be white corn though) and we tried Orville Redenbacher white popping corn yesterday and she did fine with a little bit of that. Oh and the only other grain we can eat is white rice... -

Tonight is rice noodles with homemade meat sauce and garlic bread wedges (used the Schar pizza crust and topped with olive oil, rosemary and garlic). -
	Thank you Josh!

Thank you both of you. I will see what I can rearrange financially to get tested because I am very tired of feeling this way. And it does feel like I'm dragging around a huge bag full of bricks alot of the time. When I am home with the girls I make sure they are taken care of, homeschool my daughter and work on my schoolwork, but that is about it. On the...

I couldn't find the NOW brand, but my husband just found Nature Made B complex that he is getting for me and I will start taking it this week. I am going to Rite Aid later this week and will look for D3 and I believe they carry the Culturelle also. My girls got health insurance this past week, but my husband and I were denied so I still can't go to the...

I'm actually not sure if I personally have problems with soy and I don't eat the rice chex, my two girls do. Although that worries me a little bit since we cut out soy after my daughter was in the hospital with intestinal bleeding. Sometimes it's really hard when the kid can't tell you what's bothering her...she is two and talks some, but it's like pulling...

ARCHIVED Help! What Will My Toddler Eat?
alex11602 replied to CaylumandJoshua's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Not sure if there is where she read it, but Elisabeth Hasselbeck's first book has that information in it. eta: After I read that information and about envelope glue I realized that her information couldn't really be trusted. -

ARCHIVED How To Cope After Negative Blood Results
alex11602 replied to Hailiesmom08's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Open Original Shared Link I hope it will work for you. I just looked at the recipe again and it calls for agave nectar and I had changed it to an equal amount of honey and I used canola oil instead of grapeseed. And I hear you on the sugar thing...honey is the only one I can handle. -

I am not extremely familiar with SCD so I'm just throwing this out there. Is there any cookie recipe that you can make? We made a cookie cake for my youngest because we couldn't figure out a safe cake to make. The one we made was a grain free vegan chocolate chip cookie made with honey from Elana's Pantry and instead of putting the chocolate chips into the... -

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Been Glutened From gluten-free Chicken Broth?
alex11602 replied to shayre's topic in Super Sensitive People
I don't use store bought stock since I prefer having my own. When I don't have time to simmer stock for a few hours I will take chicken or beef, brown it and then put it in water with seasonings to simmer for 20 min to a half hour. This past week I did it with beef and put potatoes and carrots in the water with it and took it off the stove when the veggies... -

That cookbook is one of my favorites, I use the book and her website for pretty much all my baking. -
I will definitely look for vitamins tomorrow. I don't think that I am getting cross-contaminated although anything is possible. We are a completely gluten free home and also have to stay away from soy, eggs and sweet potatoes. We usually eat steak, chicken, pork, potatoes, baby carrots, broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers occasionally, different...

I will definitely keep trying to go out since I would love to go to my daughter's dance recital this June and it is about 45 minutes away. I have not been taking any vitamins because I wasn't sure what to take so I will ask my husband to go with me to the store tomorrow and look at vitamins. Thank you everyone for the encouragement and the advice...

I am going to talk to a counselor next Wed. and I haven't had any testing done because I have no insurance although I have wondered if that could be part of the problem. I have been gluten free for 9 1/2 months.

Thank you everyone! I am hoping to go register for college classes today even though they started yesterday...I was ready to leave and I ended up getting myself all worked up and couldn't do it so I will try again today. Hopefully I can make it out the door.
