ARCHIVED What Are Your Culinary New Year's Traditions?
alex11602 replied to love2travel's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
That sounds absolutely delicious!!! We have always gone to my mother's house and had a bunch of appetizers... most of them gluten filled so this year my husband and I are talking about staying home. I am thinking that we will do our own little spread of appetizers since that has always been what we had. Since the food is very simple that day I'm thinking... -

ARCHIVED Bisquick And Soy Allergy
alex11602 replied to missy'smom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm not sure if my daughter is actually allergic to soy since she has never had allergy testing, but she does a major problem with it and she can not eat anything made with the gluten-free bisquick. When she has soy her reaction is more GI, within no more then 4 hours she will get D and when you change her there is coffee ground looking grit in her diaper... -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
alex11602 replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
She did really well on the cake She was so proud that she made it (mostly) by herself for her daddy and that she had even come up with the egg substitution by herself. The best part was that even with no eggs it solidified for her and had the consistency of pumpkin pie. -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
alex11602 replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Tonight I'm making roast beef and smashed potatoes for my husband and I'm also going to try the flourless chocolate banana cake from Elana's Pantry. It turned out that I am not the one making the cake tonight, my 5 year old wanted to try and read the recipe and make it for her daddy. I think it's kind of funny that she is learning to read by reading recipes... -
Trish Trish, I took Zantac 150 for a year and a half without any issues. The one thing to watch out for when taking it for a prolonged period of time is that it can decrease calcium absorbtion. I don't have a site to link to for that information though because it is from my Diet and Nutrition textbook, but perhaps you could find that info if you googled...

Can't really help on the soup part of the question because I never really enjoyed soups. but as far as tomato paste I have never noticed a big difference in the brands I have used when it comes to thickness, but I have noticed a big difference in acidity. Contadina isn't very acidic and I have found that Hunt's isn't either.

My husband has been extremely supportive especially since he saw how sick I and our youngest was. He also saw the improvement in our oldest. At this point he is also gluten free...it started with him doing it at home to be supportive, but he found he feels better. ARCHIVED 4 Year Old Possible Celiac
alex11602 replied to AngelGarza's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
For accurate testing you need to be consuming gluten and even then it is possible for a negative result. Also since you have family members who were diagnosed I would say for you and all your children to get tested. Another thing is that since your daughter had positive results on the diet already after all testing is exhausted you may want to put her... -

alex11602 replied to samie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We started decorating the week of Thanksgiving. In 2009 when my daughter was born the drs kept saying that even though she was due Dec. 28th that I would have her way earlier because of problems so we decorated for Christmas the week of Thanksgiving that year. She ended up being born on Dec. 8th and I like having decorations up before her birthday so... -

You make any fruits or vegetables...our favorites were apples, strawberries, cherries and blueberries. If you do a melon when they are in season it turns sweeter, almost candy like. We have also make chips from tortillas in ours and the booklet that came with mine said you can use sliced white potatoes too. Just remember for any fruit or veggie that can...

ARCHIVED Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice
alex11602 replied to Marilyn R's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't know about for everyone else, but in our case my children get maybe half a cup a day of juice and the rest of what they drink is water. And it may not be difficult to make juice, but with taking care of 2 young children who I am homeschooling it is too time consuming considering that we have to make almost all our food from scratch also. So in our...
