  1. Pork roll sandwiches, with rolls from Whole foods. And probably some salad, to make it feel a little more healthy!
  2. I think you and I have been gluten-free for the same amount of time. I just hit 6 months last week. The stages of grief are absolutely true! When I first read that, I laughed a bit, and didn't take that part of going gluten-free seriously. But I went through all 5 stages of grief, including the anger. I have also made some mistakes along the way, been...
  3. Sudden mood swing - angry Stomach and intestinal pain Fatigue Then, over the course of a week... Insomnia, Constipation, Brain Fog
  4. So I'm at work, listening to some music on my iPod, and it got me wondering... What are YOU listening to today? What's the soundtrack of your day? So far, I've had... Maroon 5 - Songs about Jane and Dream Theater - Octavarium Who do like to listen to that gets you going?
  5. As someone who dealt with mood and emotional issues pre-gluten-free......RAWK ON!
  6. I definitely agree on the blood tests! Since it's so minimally invasive, it's a good idea to check. The flag went up when you said you're getting the brain fog, which was one of my symptoms that stood out after a while. I also had mood swings, too. So it definitely can affect the way your brain works.
  7. The Rainbow Connection - as sung by Kermit the Frog
  8. I've tried both, and I actually like Udi's better. I think the white sandwich bread is a little bit lighter, which is what I like in a sandwich bread. It's just a preference. Definitely take them both out for a spin!

    ARCHIVED Brain Fog

My experience is the same as rgarton. For months, I could not figure out why I couldn't concentrate at work after lunch. I just thought I was hitting my afternoon wall. But then, all the GI symptoms, the weight loss, pointed elswhere. Since I've been gluten free almost four months, I can concentrate MUCH better. I noticed that the next monthly cycle at...
  10. I'm about 3 1/2 months in, and went through the same thing. I got really angry about it. So much, that I didn't want to even be around myself! But I just kept reminding myself of the benefits, and the progress I'm already making. It didn't make me less angry right away, but it at least helped me to deal with it, even if I was unhappy about it. I've gotten...
  11. Hey New, I'm much like you...do not like to cook. (I'm a 31 year old single guy. What do you expect? ) But I am able to keep it simple when I do cook, and use a lot of fresh proteins, vegetables, fresh fruits. The food store I usually shop at is really good at labeling their store brand items with allergens (including gluten), so that has helped...
  12. Somebody to Love - Queen
  13. I think I get what you're trying to say, joe. If I read you right, that perfectionsim and low self esteem, stress, etc. will lead to generally worse health, celiac or not. I think that's generally agreed upon. Whether there's a connection to stress and the degree celiac symptoms, i.e. can stress make the symptoms worse/more intense, is an interesting thought...
  14. My day job is as an accountant with a large mortgage company. I'm in the back office part, a kind of thankless job. But it's got good hours and low stress. My alter ego is in a local band that plays mostly original music. We know what we are, and we're not looking for any big contract or looking to make it big, but we enjoy it! It's a great creative...
  15. Well, I did stop counting calories and focusing big time on the protein. I've been trying to make sure that I get some protein with each meal every day, even just something as simple as some nuts as a snack. While the scale hasn't moved a whole lot (maybe 1 or 2 lbs.), I do see a difference when I look in the mirror, particualarly in my arms and legs. ...

  17. Dietz and Watson has a lot of gluten-free dogs. (Not sure if they're national? ) Check their website. Open Original Shared Link

  19. Absolutely you can have a gluten intolerance without true Celiac. That's what I seem to have. Had many of the symptoms you have (abdominal pain, fatigue, weight loss). Had the endoscopy done, biopsy for Celiac came back normal. But before I got the results back, because I was so miserable, I tried going gluten free on my own. The difference is night and...
  20. Rollin' on the River - Creedence Clearwater Revival, or Tina Turner - take your pick!
  21. Fly Away - Lenny Kravitz
  22. Everybody has a Water Buffalo - Larry and Bob of VeggieTales
  23. I had some of the same issues - particularly nocturnal panic attacks. Mine actually went away fairly quickly after going gluten free. But I did still have one minor attack a few weeks after going gluten-free. But since then, none. I know how scary that is, and that she probably wants it gone now. (I know I did!) If she's just at a week and a half,...
  24. Thanks guys!! I'm just getting tired of answering "Have you lost weight?" when I go to church every week. "Yes, I know, I look skinny. No, it's nothing I can't treat or deal with. Yes, I'm going in the right direction." Got the answer down pat! I think I'm going to get a T-Shirt made up that says "I've lost both weight and gluten, and never felt better...
