  1. I went on a gluten challenge recently, and since coming off that my stomach has been very dodgy - acidic, painful and gassy. What I've found helps with it is to eat smaller meals more often, and bland foods - fish, potatoes and vegetables such as carrot, cauliflower, broccoli (no onion, tomato or garlic since they make my tummy scream) fried food of...
  2. That is one of my symptoms too. The big D happens, but only on occasion, and is usually followed by this. I'm strugglign at the moment with it to be honest, since being on the gluten challenge. My stomach is also very off, so I'm limited to what I can eat without that kicking up a fuss. All I am doing is plenty of fresh fruit and veg (non acidic), tons of...
  3. I think there are plenty of people that are overweight and celiac/gluten intolerant. Or at least I hope there is cos I am I am the only gluten-free person in my house. I ditched the flour because it was just impossible to clean up thoroughly enough that I didn't get sick. Anything powdered like that went in the bin. I agree that 100% gluten-free...
  4. you might notice that the intolerance to dairy gets more severe when you go gluten-free (or the symptoms get more troublesome). I didn't even know I had a problem with that until I had gotten the gluten out of my system and most symptoms cleared up. I think it was masked by all of the gluten problems. I seem ok with lactose free stuff atm so that may...
  5. With regards the milkshake.....could be a cc thing. All those breadbuns and sticky gluteny fingers. I would think it's highly possible that even if the shake itself was gluten-free, the hands handling the cup/lid probably are not. Eating disorders. I have wondered about this since I have had issues with this myself. I had a lot of mental health problems...
  6. Not sure about it getting absorbed through skin, but cat eats food, cat cleans itself, you stroke cat, then finger finds it's way into mouth, or you grab a drink or something to eat....it can happen. I'm a habitual finger sucker/chewer when I'm concentrating or thinking about something. It's easily done without even realising it. I got glutened off a handwash...
  7. I'm going to be boring and have a couple of scrambled eggs with a piece or two of cardboard....oops I mean gluten free bread, toasted. I'll probably follow that with some fruit
  8. Hey all Diagnosed NCGS 1st july (no endoscopy) Been gluten free after a month on a gluten challenge since that date. Since going gluten-free (and I think since about 2 weeks into the gluten challenge) I have had a raging sore throat. I have no difficulty swallowing or anything, it's just painful. Also, swollen glands in the neck area....that seems to...
  9. Have you looked into the anti inflammatory benefits of certain foods? I find oily fish very good for helping with joint aches and pains. If you google anti inflammatory diet there is a ton of information out there. Good luck with the elimination diet
  10. It may well be. I have skin problems that clear up on a gluten free diet. I cannot tolerate lactose either and that seems to set my skin itching for some reason.
  11. Experiment! I like to fry up cumin seed, black onion seed, onion, mushroom, sweetcorn and peas in butter, add the rice and coat, add the water then chuck in a bit of salt, pepper, tomato puree and a pinch of turmeric and paprika. My only rule when cooking rice, is to use 1 part rice, to 1.5 parts water. Bring to the boil, simmer until the water...
  12. Good luck I'm a full grown adult and would still do anything for candy
  13. I can well understand your frustrations here. You love your mother and care about her wellbeing. However, you have done what you can. It's up to her to do the rest now. She is an adult and as such is responsible for her own health. You've given her the information. It's up to her what she chooses to do with that. Frustrating as it is, you can't drive yourself...
  14. Hi Another big girl here that used to be a skinny one. Not sure how much of the weight gain is due to lack of exercise thanks to the fatigue and weakness, or giving in to the things I craved as opposed to gluten being the direct cause though. I am diagnosed as non celiacs gluten intolerance - but important to note here that I didn't have the endoscopy...
  15. Hi Lilu. Wow, you're having a hard time of it. I'm not sure that what I am going to say will help in any way shape or form, but at least you'll know you are not alone. I have been ill for several years with major depression issues. Always had them since teenage years, but the last 8 years have been the most horrific. Hospitalised several times,...
  16. Hello My right breast has had a slight discharge for oooh, 8 years or so? very slight - barely noticable in fact. I just put it down to the fact that I breastfed four children and have never really thought about it. I shall keep an eye on this now and see if it disappears off the gluten. What I do know is that I have had various symptoms for many...
  17. I stopped only two days ago after a gluten challenge and have these (plus digestive problems) I anxiety was so bad last night I thought i was going to die. Weird stuff gluten
  18. Hello and welcome
  19. hahaha he was called Dr Tai and it was in east yorkshire, UK
  20. He asked me about symptoms. Thanks to brain fog I'd written them all down. He looked at the skin problems, looked over the list, looked at my stomach and asked my why oh why was I still eating gluten. I told him my gp told me to so I could be tested and his answer was to stop eating it immediately. He talked about cross contamination, it being hidden in certain...
  21. I get horrendous wind after MSG and tartrazine, so maybe could be an additive they use that is causing a reaction too. Hope all goes well on biopsy day
  22. I found out I had issues with gluten (non diagnosed as yet) totally by accident. Depression with hospitalisation and drug treatment, various counsellors, psychiatrists for many years. Skin problems, though nothing on the scale of DH for years. I got shingles back in march 2010. Felt really ill for a long time afterwards so went to see the doctor. He...
  23. I'm sick and tired of it being an issue for everyone else that I have to be gluten free. Why does it concern THEM so much....not forcing them to do it Also of people telling me that if I just exercised, thought positive, changed my hairstyle, changed my make up, bought new clothes etc I would feel better. They wouldn't say all that if I had a broken...
  24. Do I think it's in your head? Unless there is some kind of mass hysteria going on with the doctor and dietitian then nope, it's not in your head. Your family cannot say it's in your head, since they don't feel what goes on in your body. Do you NEED the diagnosis. I am on a gluten challenge at the moment, and it's just horrible. I'm only 28 days in. I...
