  1. Lesson learned: Ear drops are not eye drops..ouch..think I will read the label next time.

  2. Cannot wait for the new Red Dawn to come out. The first was great. Hope they do not botch it up.

  3. Circadian rhythm is reversed. Grrr. Hmm. 4 am. Might as well write a paper.

  4. the next time someone blames our generation, walk up to them and say,"Well, who raised that generation?" and see how they respond.

  5. I love Kitchen Nightmares. One day I will meet Gordon Ramsey..and make him some scallops.

  6. I am very suspicious of joggers. It seems as if they are always the ones who find the bodies.

  7. The cat just said to me, "hey... if you can hear me talking then you probably forgot to take your medicine."

  8. If my glasses side down one more time, I am either going to staple them or superglue them to my head.

  9. Everyone's symptoms are so all over the place and with so many of us having other intolerances it can be hard to tell. Regular grains give me fast GI symptoms. Gluten creeps up on me slow but them whammies me. Sometimes vomiting, sometimes not. I do not think it is worth it at all. One thing that is consistent is that I can feel my body being set back a good...
  10. I think one thing people miss early on is that not every reaction is gluten or CC. Lots of us have multiple food intolerances or just plain old weak stomachs that take time to resolve.
  11. You may have issues with all grains. This is something the Specific Carbohydrate Diet addresses. I did not begin to see significant improvement until I started this and eliminated all grains. Anytime I add one back, whammo.
  12. I think my GI is too tender for vitamins still. I have tried so many brands including Celiact and all wonk my stomach. Some have soy derivatives (vit e, lecithin), some have dairy components (probiotic), some have blah blah. The B vitamins esp nail me. I think a lot of people are ODing on them without realizing it because their water soluble nature has led...
  13. Maintaining celiac precautions ultimately has to fall onto the person with the issue. I am not sure you really can ask a roommate (non-spouse/child) to go above and beyond what a regular college roommate would do. Each of us has to take on the role of protecting ourselves, making sure we have safe food when we go to events, etc. I just do not think we can...

    ARCHIVED Beer?

Everyone has fun pointing out when people "break" their diet. 90% of the people I know do not know I am gluten-free or more accurately the SCD diet. Just no need for the majority of people to know that information. Even when eating out, it is only an issue if we choose to make it an issue.
  15. thank you. I will take a look at them.
  16. I am loving the SCD Diet. Finally controlling my GI issues pretty well. Definitely going grain free was a win for me. It also allowed me to show myself that my dairy intolerance is more of an allergy with ears shutting up, chest tightened a bit when i trialed some. That was interesting to learn. I am recognizing that I probably need a basic multivitamin...
  17. Is anyone ever truly 100% gluten-free with all the concerns of cross contamination? Even the lower ppm limits have limitations in what can be tested for. I am not advocating for adding gluten to the diet of course, but the fact that some go medical freakout on CC and others do not, seems to shows a discussable area as to how much is okay. 1 ppm, 0.5.... Even...
  18. There are a lot of people here who have been helped tremendously by digestive enzymes and probiotics as well as betaine. I think the key is to try them separately and listen to what your body is try to tell you. I do think they are all worth exploring.
  19. I did a trial of back on Digest Gold for a week and could always taste acid in my mouth. Stopped for last 3 days and nothing. started today and 2 hours later had it again. interesting.
  20. A good many GIs feel that GERD is also caused by intradbdominal pressure from a flora imbalance that causes excess fermentation (gas). I have noticed when I feel bloated my GERD is much more noticeable. Lower carb or the SCD diet can help starve the bacteria. As much as I try to reject it, I keep having to come back to both because the difference is very...
  21. I bought the sorghum beer once. A friend got one before me..Five minutes later, he ran screaming to the bathroom..."not going to make it..not going to make it"...20 min later he returned..then ran again...needless to say I never drank any after that. I find that almost any amount of alcohol or type bothers my gut these days. Guess things are still very...
  22. Our Smiths here has a good selection of gluten-free products. For me I need ideas for brands and such pre-shopping. Next time I shop, I am going to see how well the list works, but I am pleased to see the list along with a recent update.
  23. I stumbled on this today when looking up something I brought home. 43 pages and last updated 3/27/12. This will definitely make my grocery shopping easier. Open Original Shared Link
  24. I like this thread. The no constant vomiting and other GI issues is how many of us start here, but it is nice to see all this other stuff that hopefully will help us stay gluten-free.
  25. Hmm. did not know that about the tapioca. That is very good to know
