  1. have a daughter who has anphylactic egg and milk allergies. when baking we use apple sauce instead of eggs, usually a heaped tablespoon per egg, or use banana. egg replacers arent that bad, but when baking we pefer to use apple sauce. substitute milk with unsweetened soy milk we also use daiya cheese, and tofutti cream cheese and sour cream, and we found...
  2. good luck, i've got my fingers and toes crossed hoping it is a breeze for your son (and poor mommy too)
  3. thats good our family doc wont even give flu shots to kids for the same reason..just remember a few seconds of pain, a few hours of complaining, for a lifetime of good health is worth it
  4. make sure a nurse or blood tech i forget what they are called phlebologist i think, draws the blood, docs are useless at blood draws!!!!!!!!!!
  5. we'll check those out, thanks for the suggestions. the thing that has us doubting a tummy bug is noone else has been ill, least of all me who changes the vast majority of those gross diapers
  6. my 2 yr old hates blood tests and usually is pinned down! He may not like the idea, but he'll forget about the test after a while, my daughter gets a small gift afterwards. he's 6 so he has a good understanding of things. explain that some foods might be hurting his insides, and he might not feel ill now, but he might in the future, and the blood tests...
  7. i'd go with eggs in things first like baked goods. our daughter had IgE tests done and her egg was 1.7 range 0-4, o being not allergic. based on her results she should only have a mild reaction according to the allergist. i had egg salad, washed the spoon and she grabbed it and all it did was touch her chin and she instantly broke out in hives so numbers...
  8. well, after all sorts of tests..the official diagnosis is toddler diahrrea as all tests indicate she is 100% healthy. aparently all behaviour issues, eating issues, sleep issues, bloating, gas, insbility to recognise need to have a bm are in her head, and mine!!!!
  9. get himr retested, and for anemia, my SIL is aneamic and feels the cold tests are unreliable in young kids so now he's a bit older it may give you a psoitive or even just remove gluten and see what happens, unless you need a diagnosis for insurance reasons, or to get cooperation with his school for glutren free lifestyle def go to the doc, and ask for...
  10. don"t worry i didn"t think you were blunt!!! just someone who has been there, done that and got the t-shirt! it's just so hard to know what to do, we think it could be celiac, but there are so many autoimmune disorders in family, we don't want to remove something without being sure, its taken a long time to get her on a good diet that replaces all the things...
  11. we need a diagnosis because a her dad has crohn's, dont want to just assume it is celiac when it could be another autoimmune problem which needs different medical treatment b medication may be needed if it something else and will only be paid for by medical with a diagnosis c our list of medications are already drastically reduced with her allergies, so...
  12. well, back to docs today, checking for anemia, andliver and kidney enzymes and function told yet again its just toddler diahrrea , getting so angry we need an answer
  13. one thing we found good for calories is tahini, we use it as dip, our daughter loves it. we also found a cocnut milk beverage, its actually soooo good our dietician also suggested adding a blob of margarine to everything she eats, like potatoes and rice and the milkshakes we make have soy milk cocnut milk and then we add fruit and veg for extra vitamins...
  14. people complaining and critising have no idea, my daughter also has anaphylactic milk and egg allergies, so we really have to up the fat and protein, we've been there too..my SIL saw our daughter eating bacon and made comments on how badly she eats, my reply was "doctor's orders, she needs the calories, she's even been told to eat the skin on chicken" bearing...
  15. well doc is still adamant its a tummy bug getting so frustrated, need a diagnosis because then extended medical will help cover costs of medicines that are gluten free, and given that we have already had to take all egg and milk containing foods out of her diet including things that say 'may contain', dont wnt to remove more withot being sure
  16. hope you get a good dietician, we have one through an nfant and child nutrition program because of our daughters anaphylactic milk and eg allergies, they may suggest some weird things but they work
  17. OUR 2 1/2 YR OLD DOESNT SEEM MALNOURISHED, SO DOC SAYS NO CELIAC, BUT SHE HAS A HOST OF OTHER SYMPTOMS, ITS CRAZY THAT THEY HAVE TO LOOK HALF STARVED TO DEATH FOR PARENTS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY
  18. bourbon is made from corn or more usually, maybe you have a corn sensitivity, or the bourbon is cross contaminated the gluten is supposed to be removed during distillation, but who knows. also is caramel colour added? caramel in alcohol is usually from malt
  19. toddlers diahrrea isually us caused by too much juice or fruit, we were told that was what my daughter had...she never drinks juice!! docs use the term toddlers diahrea with kids the same way they use IBS with adults
  20. i agree with the er thing, next mouthful of drywall, go to a kids hospital,
  21. also try smoothies, you can sneak in veggies, and even a bit of coconut oil, or tahini for extra calories, as long as there is a fruit they don't notice anything else!!
  22. my 2 yr old has started with pica, she tries anything to get into rice, pasta and flour, she even tried to eat a gel cold pack her cousin was the same and it turned out to be anemia
  23. our 2 yr old is having the same issues..and we were told it was tummy bug, which we dont buy, the blood tests might say negative but her dad's gi says it sounds like celiac our dietician gave us some useful ideas to help her eat firstly she said if there is only 1 thing she will eat just give it to her, the most important thing is she eats, bad eating habits...
  24. she is on calcium, omega 3 and vitamin d because of her inability to have dairy our dietician alo suggetsed magnesium as she was having foot cramps. we see our ped next week, then we'll go to the gastro, our ped is awesome as for the biopsy, as my daughter is a-female, and b- half chinese, he wont even consider crohns, he evn ruled out celiac as she...
  25. hi, i posted on parents board but wanted opinions from others my 2 1/2 year old has never had a good tummy and after researching her symtoms i am convinced she has celiac disease, doc ran full celiac panel but everything is negative, but ped still is referring s to a gi (if you are in van, bc you have to see min sen phang, best ped about) everything clicked...
