    I think Udi's is a problem for a lot of folks and it's usually because of cross contamination of gluten rather than a problem with the ingredients. (that's not to say it's impossible, just that there's cc.)

    Dishtowels are definitely more environmentally friendly than paper towels. I love the dishtowel idea.... I'm going to do this (buy lots and swap out often), because it'll break my heart to have to use paper for everything. :/

    I do think celiac and type 2 can be related. My grandfather had diabetes that was only problematic for him when he ate bread. They didn't know about celiac or gluten intolerance but it's one of the pieces of the puzzle that led me here.     Yes, my point was if the OP is already abstaining from wheat due to allergy, is the gluten testing necessary before giving it up.

    Oh man that's amazing. I moved to san francisco California to get away from mosquitoes! (well I moved here for a lot of reasons lol.) I have bad scars from mosquito bites since childhood. I blow up like crazy and scratched in my sleep like my life depended on it. So many reasons to have figured this out sooner....

    I don't think that's nearly enough gluten for an accurate biopsy. Do you need a biopsy if you already know there's an allergy?

    I take hydrocodone for chronic back and leg pain, but I don't find it helps any gut pain at all, although it does help the resulting headache I get after a bout of D. I also take Xanax for general anxiety and find it helps a lot for gluten-induced anxiety. I take these regularly and mindfully and haven't had trouble, but I know these are big steps in medication...

    How big is your supplement? You can take more on your own. A fat-soluble vitamin like D is easy on the stomach and hard to overdose on (but keep getting checked!). I take 6000iu a day and am having a hard time bringing my levels up.

    Oh em gee. I canNOT do caffeine any more. One can of soda and I'm up for days. It's comical at this point. Caffeine is just not happening any more. The funny part is that I used to be a coffee junkie. I loved caffeine and worked better with it, drank pot after pot in a day with no sleep problems. Oh, to be young again.

    Is it costochondritis? It's a terrible rib or sternum pain that can resemble chest or heart pain. I get it pretty bad and find that gluten is a definite trigger.     If she's eating that much gluten, I think the endoscopy will be more useful than blood tests. That said, she/you should know a negative biopsy doesnt mean no celiac or gluten intolerance. a gluten-free diet could still help her.

    I'm wondering that myself. For me, I've had a lot of diagnoses-by-exclusion and not a lot of confirmation of anything. Or even acknowledgment of suffering. I'd really like the confirmation of a diagnosis at this point in my journey through medical hell. In your case? Seems awful cut and dry--gluten is bad for you!! Screw the test.

    Heh the shoe analogy made me lol. I agree. I just don't see meat, dairy, or eggs as viable food options. It's possible to be a gluten-free vegan, and theres definitely a small but growing group of "out" gluten-free vegans.
