  1. Do you mean the name brand Allegra in the purple box? It's been safe for me. I've also tried Target's store brand Up & Up version of Allegra and haven't had issues, either.
  2. Do you have wavy or curly hair? I went "no 'poo" (I use an occasional surfactant-free soap like dr. Bronner's, and lots of regular conditioning, the book "curly girl" or the Internet has lots of info), and my hair felt a lot better and shed less. That was pre-gluten-free, and now that I'm gluten-free, my hair feels amazing and I'm shedding a more normal amount...
  3. It's been really scary for me to discover how sensitive I am, too. It's hard for me to comprehend how my diet revolved around gluten before and now a little cc kicks my butt. I guess that's why I was so sick, too, I was just too sick to know
  4. I can't use my bread machine to make bread for my gluten eaters because I react to the contained kneading and baking. We used mixes too and even when someone put the box straight into the machine and I was in another room, I'd react. Badly. Airborne gluten is bad news. And a chef baking from scratch is going to do way more damage than my bread machine. I...
  5. Yesterday I was daydreaming about starting a gluten-free vegan food truck. I want portable whole foods that are comforting and delicious. (finger foods, foods in cups, etc) And amazing brownies or some other dessert!
  6. I had this realization lately myself. It's SO WONDERFUL! I'm so glad people here understand our excitement
  7. Oh man, I feel like everything goes wrong when I get glutened and the world is ending! First my right hand tingles (so weird), then my stomach hurts and I get nauseous. In a few hours, my stomach still turns, I'm anxious and weepy, and my asthma acts up. In the next days, I'm irritable, get D or C, and have lots of fibromyalgia pain, headaches or migraines...
  8. Holy cow that's really good to know. Glad you figured it out!
  9. Ive found dairy and iodine to be triggers for my skin. Congrats on solving the mystery!! Welcome! This forum has been SO helpful. Don't forget your veggies and fruits
  10. A 26lb cat? That is awesome
  11. I'm so sorry For your loss!! It's so sad to lose a family member. *hugs* I'm sorry you don't have support from your family, too, especially when you could use it most. Your posts and comments have been such a huge help to me, emotionally AND physically. Thank you for being here.
  12. Yes to the utensils AND the dishwasher. The dishwasher's tricky. I ran a ton of vinegar through the rinse agent dispenser and it seemed to help me but I'm not sure if the vinegar helped or all the empty loads... It was like contaminated food was left in places I couldn't see or something. For what it's worth, I don't think it was the dishwasher itself...
  13. Hmmm I have asthma and reflux and I've noticed there's sometimes overlap. Maybe the acid causes inflammation in the lungs. Stuff that's helped me inthe past: have you changed reflux meds? I find some meds help differently, AND sometimes they stop working and need a change. I've also had to double up in the past and take prevacid and Zantac for a few weeks...
  14. Makeup and cosmetics can definitely make you feel lousy. It's darn near impossible to keep from ingesting at least a little of everything we touch. (if you ever take a microbiology class, this is a sobering life lesson LOL). Foundation on your fingers and near your mouth and then touching a glass or straw, and you're glutened. I thought I couldn't be that...
  15. I have been wondering this. Just a general question, not for me personally.
  16. I second the iron deficiency. Also b12. Have you gotten any vitamins & mineral levels checked?
  17. I went gluten-free 6 weeks ago and had TERRIBLE migraine type headaches. Still get them off and on but they were BAD right away thought. Gluten has an opiate-like effect, and the withdrawals are uncomfortable. It's temporary, though! I really felt great when the worst of it passed.
  18. Gluten makes me SO nauseous.
  19. I haven't taken HCl, but I have what I think is a similar feeling after a high protein meal when it's animal protein. I've never been able to stomach much animal protein. Because I do have/had blood sugar troubles (with similar symptoms!) I tend to eat a lot of protein and years ago I realized I couldn't stomach animal products for a variety of reasons, from...
  20. Ps: welcome!
  21. My iron was like yours and I needed iv iron. Then it went back down because of undx'd celiac and now I'm supplementing and gluten-free. The brain fog from anemia is brutal. But it'll get better as you heal and absorb iron. B12 can help too. The current headaches could be gluten withdrawal, too, but iron can take awhile to build up with damaged intestines...
  22. Was your gb removed? I've had terrible gb pain, but I lucked out with my recent gluten freedom. My mom, who I really think can't have gluten either, had hers removed a couple years ago, the doctors saying it was basically dead inside her. I'll always wonder if it was caused by gluten. I hope you feel better!
  23. Mine is extremely low. Pre-gluten-free, I used OTC supplements but my levels went down... Only gluten-free 6weeks, and reacting to my cc'd OTC D, and my doc doesn't want to give rx 50,000iu's. So frustrating, because I did notice it helped my bone pain before I had to stop taking it. I have more OTC on order now, but still! Bleh.
  24. Manganese and magnesium are two complete different elements on the periodic table. Totally unrelated to each other
  25. That's lucky, I'm hungry All the time! I didnt eat as much as I should have before gluten-free because I wasn't hungry or I'd get too sick after if I even tried, and no one ever believed a person of my size was capable of eating so little. People get so nasty when it comes to "eating while fat" even though most people of size aren't overeaters! but now I...
