  1. It's been a while since I've been around here, so here's a brief catch up on me: Due to a negative blood test, I'm diagnosed gluten-sensitive, but I still think it's celiac disease because grandma is diagnosed with it. I've also delt with bouts of random lactose intolerance before going gluten-free as well as anemia. My questions are, when I do get...
  2. Happy birthday! Hope you get to enjoy some gluten-free cake!
  3. Yeah, that thought crossed my mind last night while I was fuming. Do I really want to have another baby with someone who can be so irrational?! I really do want us to have another one though. He can be really great most of the time. It's just when he gets stressed, he doesn't make any sense. We had such a wonderful week in North Carolina enjoying the...
  4. So I promised my hubby I wouldn't tell anyone yet that he agreed to having another baby(except on this forum), so I'm sorry if I'm boring you guys, but I just have to vent this somewhere! We just got back Saturday night from vacationing in small towns, and I was really looking forward to eating more than just canned gluten-free soup for a change. ...
  5. My son use to say pista for pizza, yourgut for yogurt, and waygle soup for swim suit (waygle meant water).
  6. Even better!
  7. Mommida brought up some old memories of mine of when my cousin and I use to stay up all night making up funny words whenever we got together. I was wondering if anyone else here could be creative enough to do that (it's been years for me... ) The 3 that I remember the most were: Rimbobadoobee Clibberdipple Terapoothamite Unfortunately, it...
  8. This sort of reminded me... My cousin and I use to make up funny words when we were kids. Rimbobadoobee and cliberdipple were a couple of my faves. Terapoothamite set her laughing so hard that she fell backwards out of her chair.
  9. Yesterday, I pigged out on pumpkin pie fudge from a shop that I know makes their fudge gluten free. This will be the first year that I'll have to make my own pumpkin pie
  10. I agree with the counceling suggestion. It has helped me tremendously. I was never physically abused, but emotionally by my father too. He's manic/depressive and has some crazy ideas that affect me even now. I also suspect that he has undiagnosed celiac. It's his mother that has it that pointed me to my own understanding of my health issues. A book...
  11. That is totally cool! I thought I was the only one with that phobia. I finally overcame it somewhere during college, but I can remember a time in high school when I wanted to hear a particular song on the radio and I begged my sis to call it in for me because I couldn't bring myself to do it. For whatever reason, she wouldn't. Maybe she thought I was...
  12. We go the non-haunting route for halloween. We have some fall decorations up, but this year, I've made my 3-yr-old's costume for the first time. I crocheted him a green hooded sweater and put contrasting green spikes on it to make him look like a dinosaur. Then I crocheted him a similar tail and stuffed it so it sticks out and it ties around his waist...
  13. Thanks for the advice and I will definitely try the charcoal thing. So far, I think I'm going to try these other remedies instead of the glutenase. I'm finding that a glass of Merlot helps quite a bit. I've been a T-totaller my whole life, but since this "gluten thing" has hit me, I'm looking anywhere for relief during accidental glutenings. It sheds...
  14. I wanted to renew this thread because my husband found glutenase online and I wanted more opinions before we tried it. I was able to have no accidental glutenings for 3 months until a week ago. Do you have to take it beforehand like lactaid? Or would it work if you already start feeling symptoms? I was glutened by my 1 yr old when I wasn't even eating...
  15. Whew! I know you guys are probably not interested in these little details, but I just have to vent. I doesn't help that I'm suffering from a glutening and the adrenaline from today is intensifying my nausea. Well, I couldn't avoid him today even though I sat in the chapel. When I had to go pick up my boys, I saw a friend of mine nearby so I stopped...
  16. Well, I reported him and they are going to talk to him for me, but since I don't know his last name, they can't do anything yet. I do have his email, so I'm going to send it to the manager I spoke to and maybe they can look him up that way. I didn't see him because I cowered in the chapel the whole time. I just so creeped out now about the whole thing...
  17. Yeah, there is a "chapel" at the Y which is essentially just a small room stocked with religious themed books. I use to spend my Mommy time in there when I was still trying to figure out why I was so sick. I think I'll duck back in there for a while, since I can't go at a different time as the boys classes are only at specific times. Ravenwood, I...
  18. *sigh* I suppose I'm too friendly and I love a good chat too much. But yeah, enough is enough. *grumble* I hate confrontation. I'll go to the Y staff first thing tomorrow before I talk to him. They're probably better trained to handle this kind of situation. You make a good point, Manna. His age doesn't matter and he has become way too forward. If...
  19. Okay, so I take our boys to the YMCA almost every morning so that they can socialize with other kids and I can get a mommy break. At that time of day, there are a lot of seniors there for classes and other groups. I'm only 31, but I love talking with older people because I love to hear their stories and experiences when they were young. However, one fellow...
  20. I think that this is a terrific idea! You ought to title it, Why your doctor can't figure out what's wrong and what they don't teach in med school My GI dr didn't seem to know much about it at all. A GI doctor!!! I would have thought that at least a specialist would know! I'll send you my story, but not at the moment. I'm currently suffering from...
  21. Everytime I see your name, I think of a fellow I used to work with who shares your surname but was named Tom. His parents were big Twain fans.
  22. Why would you suspect Mercury poisoning? The only thing I know about that, is that it can make you a bit crazy. That's why Hatters were "mad." When beaver hats were in vogue, they cured the hides with Mercury.
  23. Yay! I've got a terrific update to this! Last night, hubby and I were talking about how well the boys were doing. We've been getting lots of compliments about how much they know for their ages. Leo recognizes now that I've been working with them everyday. I didn't even bring it up, but all of a sudden he got this strange sort of sheepish expression,...
  24. For me the trigger happened after my second pregnancy, but like others, I can look back at my "symptoms" and realize them for what they were, such as random come-and-go lactose intolerance. Within a year after my second c-section, I also had knee surgery, so I guess that did me in.
  25. Normally, I would side with Loves2travel about the classics, but occasionally I find a good recent one that I like. The one that comes to mind is By the Light of the Moon by Dean Koontz. I don't like a lot of his stuff, but I really enjoyed this one. To be honest though, I never actually picked up the book, but listened to it on tape because I borrowed...
