  1. It's a bummer about how expensive it is, especially where you are! I'm still getting use to buying things gluten-free, but here's what I do for milk (I hope your ok with alternative milks): -Save all the coupons you find for any type of milk. (I'm a regular couponer so I save the whole circular) -Once a month or so, the stores usually put...
  2. What a terrific idea! I'm first off thankful for Jesus and his sacrifice and to God for giving us is Word written down so that we may know his will. I'm thankful for my family and my 2 little boys who make me smile so much more than ever. I'm thankful to have found a non-medicinal cure for my pain. I'm thankful that there is information...
  3. I love my Ninja blenders! Excellent for making and storing hummus, salsa, peanut butter, etc. Not to mention smoothies! I got mine for mother's day last year. For my birthday, this year, I got a new measuring cup, the kind that you don't have to stoop over to see if you got the right amount. My other favorite gadget is this little garlic chopper...
  4. My dr had me on clear liquids the day before and laxatives that evening. I was cleared out by the time it was time to go to bed, and didn't have to get up all night. The hardest part was taking the miralax. I had to drink 2 liters of it within 2 hours. I had had a bowl of beef broth just before because I was hungry, but wished I hadn't. I had to drink...
  5. Yep, that happens to me too. I still chew gum, but there are softer ones that don't bother me as much. Trident is a good one, but even then I'll have to spit it out before the flavor dies all the way. Those sourdough bread bowls at Panera Bread use to be my favorite, but it was always disappointing to not be able to finish it just because my jaw was too...

    ARCHIVED Mind Games

I'm still waiting for my test results, but even if they come back negative, I'm still convinced I have celiac. Going gluten free has helped with my pain tremendously and as I read further, so many other symptoms are fitting. A false negative is very common, it can even be caused by a lab tech who hasn't seen the celiac test before and runs it wrong. ...
  7. I'm new to this whole thing too, and I found that partially converting my daily food was the simple way to go. I like dairy snacks, and found that Yoplait yogurt and Breakstones cottage cheese are safe. My hubby is eating up the last of the Activia because I can no longer touch it. I get annoyed with all the label reading so the biggest thing that I've...
  8. My hubby was still in disbelief yesterday over how such a small particle of gluten could make me react like that. But I think he got the message last night when I was too crampy and waaaay to fatigued for hanky panky! I'm feeling much better this morning.
  9. I won't get my test results back until the 7th of next month, but going gluten free has helped my cramping. I too have trouble with my jaw. My dentist said it was TMJ and suggested that I not chew gum. I still (well, not anymore) have trouble with really chewy breads like Panara Bread's sourdough crust because of it. If I'm really tired and don't...
  10. Thanks I sure hope the gluten free takes care of that. Sometimes, I get too frustrated with my 3 year old, then feel guilty when I overreact. It'll be nice when I can keep my cool almost all the time like I use to.
  11. I stutter and stumble over my words and have difficulty coming up with the right word to use all the time. I also find myself rambling because I never feel I've made my point properly. I've only been gluten free (for the most part) for a little over a week. It'll be really nice if that goes away! I just thought it was the way I was.
  12. Thanks for the "experience" I actually am generally a mellow person. I guess opposites attract though, and since I've been married (though I very much love my husband), a few of his bad "rushing" habits have rubbed off over the last 9 years. I'm currently being treated (not with meds) for mild anxiety/depression and OCD tendencies. But as I look farther...
  13. Ah! Thanks for the info. If it happens to me again, I'll be prepared to do some experimenting...
  14. Thanks for the tip! I'm rediscovering fresh fruits all over again. Ones that I normally wouldn't bother with because it was too much trouble to cut up and store. And they would go bad before I got around to eating them. I didn't realize how much processed foods I was eating! I just cut up a watermelon today for the first time in years. I was soooo...
  15. I'm confused about lactose and casien. Twice in my life (not now), I was lactose intolerant. I had terrible cramping and bloating. I labeled it as "severe" because I couldn't eat milk, butter, cheese, or even a bite of bread without a reaction (I realize now, that the bread issue could have been the gluten). My mom is lactose intolerant but can eat butter...
  16. Hmm, maybe that's why my kids are so laid back... Thanks for the nice compliment!
  17. I know it won't help right, now, but for the long run, if you don't already do it, you might try taking some yoga classes. My psychologist recommended them to me for my mild anxiety. I've only taken one so far, and it's really nice! It's a work out too, but doesn't feel like one until your muscles are a little sore later. I had tried to do some yoga...
  18. I hope he learned it! He's the sort of person who's always in a terrible hurry. When he walks, he never strolls, he goes straight on green and makes a u-turn instead of waiting at a red left turn...etc. We even ate that meal in the car. Because he's always in a rush, he doesn't always pay attention to little details, like which cup is really his.
  19. Thanks Already started, but not as bad as if I'd eaten the turnover myself. It's tolerable, but annoying.
  20. My hubby likes Arby's and wanted to go there for lunch. Well it's father's day, so... They have salads there which appear to be gluten free, but I'm not sure how safe it is. I thought I'd try it (mostly to prove a point to both him and myself), and if I had a reaction, I'd know not to trust a kitchen that's not my own. Turns out I didn't have to worry...
  21. Cool, thanks!
  22. Hey, for those who are still getting bitten by mosquitos, try carrying an unused dryer sheet in your pocket. I find that helps a bit and it smells nice
  23. Awesome job! Kayaking is not easy! Keep it up!
  24. This sounds eerily like something I would do. I've only been gluten-free for a week and so far, I haven't had a meltdown like this, but I've had bouts of frustration when my hubby doesn't seem to understand just how much gluten is in EVERYTHING. "Just Google a search of foods that contain gluten, I'm sure someone made one." He said this in response...
