  1. They plan to change lines this summer sometime. I haven't head what month. If you call them they will usually send you some coupons, so you can stock up before they switch over. The number I have for them is 1-800-743-3029 and you can call between 8am-4pm CST. God bless, Mariann
  2. I found this about what she said on a radio show. Open Original Shared Link We just got the Incedibles DVD the other day, and of course my kids have to watch all of the extra stuff, too. They had a little interview with Sarah Vowell, and I would have to say that she is a very cynical and sarcastic person(quite a lot like Violet in the movie!), and...
  3. Now, I've read that before in regards to Autistic kids, but I supposed it could also be applied to gluten intolerant people. I have a nephew who is Autistic and he throws fits if he can't have pizza, mac n' cheese, or buttered toast daily! They do not have him on a Gluten-free Casein-free diet, but he could really benefit from it. I also felt like I...
  4. It happened again just now with your reply Jessica. Man this is getting bad! If it hadn't have happened to me with other people I would think it was just blocking your replies! I don't think it is anything personal against you, but it isn't letting me know about your replies today! God bless, Mariann
  5. Jess, We had the Enterolab tests done on myself and my three kids and they were all positive. (see my signature for more details) We see a lot of doctors as a family and I have only had the Enterolab results refused by my GI specialist. Our two doctors in our GP's office, our ENT, my son's pedi Neuroligist, and his pedi immunologist/rheumotologist have...
  6. Kroger's Golden Corn Nuggets are also gluten-free and just like Corn Pops. And don't get him too hooked on the Malt-O-Meal CocoDino Bites or the Malt-O-Meal Corn Puffs, in a few months they will no longer be made on dedicated lines, and with be cross-contaminated with their gluten cereals. At least that is their plan, but we are trying to change their mind...
  7. Elaine, I only use Kinnickinick bread, and when the loaf gets too stick together this is what I do. First I sort of whack the loaf against the counter. Usually this loosens the slices. If that doesn't work, then I gently separate them with a butter knife. I've never had a problem with the bread breaking this way. Then I microwave the slices for about...
  8. I know what you mean Karen, about being paranoid. I think we need to be these days! I do shop online, because I do live in a somewhat rural area, and am limited by what the Whole Foods and Trader Joes carry in the nearest big city. They don't carry nearly enough, and even with shipping charges I can get a better price online, when I buy in bulk. I only...
  9. I use the "view new posts" feature all the time, too. But I do rely on the e-mail notification, since I check my e-mail all the time, but I don't always have time to check the message board. This feature tells me about the replies that I have gotten to the topics I am interested in. It also helps remind me that I shouldn't neglect my moderator duties for...
  10. I'm just wondering why I get e-mail notifications for most of the topics I am subscribed to, but not ALL. I have noticed that there is some inconsistency regardng this issue, and since there are so many posts, I can't possibly read them all, but I do like to read the replies to the ones I have posted in. I have estimated that I get an e-mail for about ...
  11. The Enjoy Life cinnamon crunch granola is nothing like the Ener-G granola. There might be other flavors of Enjoy Life granola, but the cinnamon crunch is the only one I've found. It tastes very strongly of cinnamon, and the Ener-G tastes more like almonds (which is the main ingredient). It does have a slight coconut taste, so if you don't like coconut...

    ARCHIVED More Queries

I wonder by "important" topic versus any other type of topic, do you mean why are some pinned and others aren't? The pinned topics are the ones that the moderators have verified that they are in the correct location. If they are posted in the wrong forum, then the moderators have to move them to the correct forum and "pin" it there. When a member firsts...

    ARCHIVED Takeaways

If you do manage to get gluten-free foods available in those places, then you would still have to ensure that they are cooked in a dedicated fryer. They would not be able to fry the gluten foods in with the gluten free ones. This might be a challenge. It is also probably part of the reason why more places do not have gluten-free food readily available...
  14. The company is based in Oceanside, CA. According to their website they are currently selling thier salsas throughout the US in all states except, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and Louisiana. I don't know why they don't sell them in those states, but they might start selling them there at some point...Here is what their website says.
  15. I was shopping at the store today and I got some tortilla chips. I wanted to get some salsa, but I have not been really happy with the brands I've tried lately. My all time favorite salsa is a homemade kind from a small mexican restaurant in the town we used to live in. I haven't eaten there since going gluten-free. Anyhow, I wanted to try a different...
  16. You must eat the Puffins pretty quickly, because the last time I had them they got soggy on me. I LOVE the Ener-G Granola/trail mix cereal. It tastes almost exactly like I remember Quaker granola tasting like. I don't even miss the oats! It was a little strange at first, since it is almost all almonds and dates, but I really like it. I can...
  17. Roo, I totally agree with you! The Kinnikinnick english muffins would make a perfect hamburger bun! They are so light and fluffy and when toasted are perfect for this! I was just thinking the same thing, when I read your post. I just wish there were more than 4 in the pack!! God bless, Mariann
  18. I don't know if that would work. But every school is different, and they have to do what works best for them. At our schools the kids sit with their class in a designated area for the younger grades (k-5) and if the food allergy/intolerance children were in different classes this might be a logistical nightmare for the cafeteria staff! Also kids have friends...
  19. My kids love them. They are always asking for more! I have to limit them to one can at a time, since they will eat them all. I stock up when they go on sale. I am more tha willing to pay $1 a pack, but it is hard for me to pay $1.79, when I know they will be on sale soon. They go on sale at least once a month or more at our local SaveMart and even Kmart...
  20. I haven't had any issues with Fruit Loops or Cheerios. If they are doing a "counting" project, they find something else to count with. I did buy some Amaranth-O's, which can be used for stringing if they need them. So far they haven't done anything like that. The Amaranth-O's taste like dirt to me and my kids won't eat them either, but I keep them in...
  21. WE love the Kinnickinnick breads (and other stuff!), but it is better toasted. It is very moist if you don't toast it, I never thought of it as greasy...If you toast it just slightly then you can still use it for sandwiches and it is not so moist. I love grilled sandwiches with it!! And the white sandwich bread is GREAT as french toast! I am buying for...
  22. Jessica, maybe you can answer this for me. It does not include "eating" as one of the "major life activities" and I am concerned that as far as celiac disease goes this could make for a loophole in the 504 plan for Celiacs. This could make for some people to be denied the plan. How do you feel about this? If this is actually the case, it might be an issue...
  23. I just wanted to share my situation here. We are a family with 3 gluten intolerant children, who do NOT have an official diagnosis of Celiac. We cannot get a 504 if we wanted to. I am fortunate that we do live in a small town, and so far all of the three elementary schools have been extremely cooperative. We pack lunch for the kids every day. This was...
  24. Corned Beef Hash is corned beef chopped up and mixed with chopped potatoes and then it gets cooked together. It is good, and I know that Marys Kitchen is gluten-free, but it is rather high in sodium and fat, so I limit how often I have it. Usually once every few months. It's really sort of funny at our house, because every time I cook some hash, my husband...
  25. Most likely it is an error in shipping. You should have only got one box, unless there are two people who need to be thested. They will charge you for the one test that you send back. I had my shipment delayed by the mail delivery, and when we thought it was lost, they sent another. They don't charge your account until they receive the test kit back to...
