  1. All three of my kids came back positive on IgG only in the blood tests. After testing them with Enterolab (and they all came back positive on those tests) I put them on the diet. They are so much healthier now. They are all growing like weeds! Unstoppable! My daughter who has been in the same size for the past two years has now skipped a full size and...
  2. I was wondering how you were doing also! And how is your grandson? Sorry about the trouble you've had, but we sure are glad your back! God bless, Mariann
  3. I believe you can also cook hot dogs, wrap them in foil and put it in the thermos to keep it warm. The trick with most thermos containers is to heat them with boiling water before you put the food in. They will stay hot longer that way. I've given my kindergartener soup in a thermos for school lunch and it stayed warm. God bless, Mariann
  4. My husband had these and after 5 years of pestering him about his breath (it got so bad I couldn't sleep in the same room with him!) he had his tonsils removed. It is fine now. My 5 year old daughter has the same problem and is having her tonsils out next month (hopefully. keep your fingers crossed, since her allergies keep interfering with the surgery...
  5. Part of the testing problem is that even most doctors don't realise that allergies and intolerances are different and they just order the food allergy tests and tell you that you don't have a problem with wheat. I have a friend who took her daughter in to be tested for gluten intolerance and the doctor not realising the difference ordered food allergy...
  6. Our immune systems are a bit complicated. We have 5 different kinds of immunoglobulins (abbreviated as Ig). There are IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG and IgM. The celiac tests are done on IgA (most specific to testing celiac) and IgG. Allergy tests are done on IgE. So it is not uncommon to be Celiac, but not wheat allergic, or wheat allergic and not Celiac. And...
  7. celiac3270, You are in my prayers. Monday just can't come soon enough! Looking forward to hearing what comes from your endoscopy. I know that you need answers and I hope that you get them. But most of all I hope that you are able to feel better soon. You are a great inspiration to so many of us here and I'm sure we all agree that it will be great...
  8. Lisa, I don't do artificial sweeteners either. And you need to check protein powders for dairy. They usually have whey protein in them. I have tried a rice protein powder that I got at Whole Foods, but it tastes awful. I don't recommend it. I like the Gluten Solutions Chocolate Mint bars. They are gluten-free/cf and they have 15 grams of protein...
  9. Tiffany is right. I still get asked to bake goodies for church bake sales. I always tell them that everything I bake will be wheat/gluten free. I am not surprised that my gluten-free stuff sells just as good as the non-gluten-free goodies! I've done cupcakes and banana muffins, and brownies are always a hit. Don't be afraid to serve gluten-free...
  10. I don't know why, but a lot of the mini rice cakes aren't included on my families diet. It might not be a gluten problem, it might be a dairy problem, so you might want to check with the Quaker company. The only ones my kids eat are the apple cinnamon variety, but they eat them a lot and I even send these as a class snack to my daughter's kindergarten class...
  11. Herb-Ox bouillon is gluten-free. It even says "Gluten Free" on the package as well, but it does contain dairy, so my kids and I don't use it. The other brands of bouillon I have are Celifiber (they make beef, chicken, and vegetable medley) and The Organic Gourmet (I have the vegatable bouillon which is a bit on the spicy side, but they might make...
  12. Tiffany, Tell me about it! The kids and I were out shopping the other day and they started noticing that there are a LOT of foods out there that are gluten-free, but not Gluten-free Casein-free! If we can ever have dairy again it will open up such a wealth of gluten-free food options to us that we will NEVER feel deprived again. We plan to get...
  13. How do they check your spleen? Ultra-sound, x-ray? And what would happen to you if your spllen was small? Just curious. I'll go to the link you posted Gretchen, maybe it will answer my questions. God bless, Mariann
  14. I'm sorry you were given bad advice. I just thought I would warn you that the Customer Service representative at the company that makes Udo's products gave me wrong information, also. I called to find out why their Udo's Digestive Enzyme Blend for Canada was gluten free, but their US version contained Barley. She kept telling me they were the same, and...
  15. Thanks Burdee, I looked at the ingredients and that helped. Now I know if I try the gravies that I might have to use Benadryl that night! I was wondering if anyone has tried that Alfredo style Chreese and how it tastes? Does it really taste like an alfredo sauce? God bless, Mariann
  16. Let me know if you check out the one in Morgan Hill. I have family there and could possible arrange visits to be able to make it to a meeting. I don't know if you want to travel there, but there is also a support group in Santa Cruz, they meet once a month I think, at Dominican Hospital. I have not had much luck with the support groups here. One is...
  17. Burdee, I'm not supposed to have soy either! I'm mildly allergic to it, but in small amounts I am usually okay. I just thought it might be nice to give my daughter a pizza with "cheese". I haven't tried the other flavors of chreese, but the Mozzarella flavor is listed on their website as dairy free. Does it really have casein?! According to their...
  18. My oldest son who has behavior issues as his main symptom and not very many digestive complaints is the one who complains occasionally about the gluten-free diet. He is terribly sensitive to dairy though! My younger son who has TONS of symptoms and GI complaints says he doesn't even want to ever touch anything with gluten again, let alone eat it! The diet...
  19. I have not yet found any place locally that carries the Soymage VEGAN cheese substitute. That and a few others are listed in my Gluten-free Casein-free shopping guide. I have tried Chreese and although the consistency is rather strange, it doesn't taste too bad. It is nothing like cheese though. The other substitutes listed in my guide are:...
  20. Something strange happened and it posted my message twice. Sorry about that... Mariann
  21. celiac3270, this might have had something to do with the acid from the tomato sauce and the dairy from the cheese. What do you think? God bless, Mariann
  22. That would probably be fine. It won't really affect the damage, since the damage that is seen in the intestines is what has happened months ago. So it isn't like it is going to show more damage just from one more night of gluten, no matter how much you feed him. Let him eat until he is full, but don't force more on him. Good luck with the biopsy tomorrow...
  23. YES! It is possible, especially if you are having obvious reactions to gluten. I'm glad the endoscopy went well for you. God bless, Mariann
  24. It's just a matter of a day or two. If I were you I would keep him on gluten for that amount of time. The intestinal lining heals quite quickly and you don't want to increase the risk of getting false negative results. That said, When you post a new topic it goes to the back page of that forum, waiting for a moderator to read it and make sure it is...
  25. Barbara, you need to drop the "s" . Here is a link: Open Original Shared Link God bless, Mariann
