  1. I also got sick from some Prego (sausage and mushroom I think) and when I looked on my shopping lists I had it backwards. Ragu (all flavors) are supposed to be gluten-free. Only the Prego traditional flavor is supposed to be gluten-free. Don't know why. The ingredients don't seem like they would contain gluten, but I did end up sick so now I stick with...
  2. Judy, did you ever get a reply from the company about Excedrin Tension? I e-mailed them and they never responded. I stopped using it and went back to a cup of coffee in the morning, but the coffee seems to be adding to my vertigo/dizziness and so I am about to go without anything. I don't know what to do and I just hope that my headaches don't...
  3. Dustin, Don't assume that the doctor's collegues knew anymore about Celiac than she did. I have noticed that most doctors "hang out" with other like minded doctors. My doctor is very closed minded on the subject of celiac disease and I am pretty sure that the other doctors in the same practice are like her. It takes a skilled and open-minded doctor to...
  4. Thanks celiac3270. I guess I just assumed everyone could see them. I was already a moderator when the warning system started, so hence I asssumed, you know what they say about what happens when you assume, right? This happens most often where people post the same thing in different forums trying to get more replies. This is against the rules...
  5. Hi Ruth, Don't worry about it. You have not had any warnings. You can tell by your little warning level on the left side of the screen. When you get one warning it says 33% and the little red line moves to about 1/3 of the way across. Two warnings (I don't think it has happened to anyone yet!) would probably say 67%. On the third warning you are on...
  6. I breastfed all three of my children for 17-20 months each. My two boys were in the 95th percentile on growth during the first 6 months and then when I started intriducing solids they started to drop down the charts. My daughter was very small when she was born and had trouble gaining weight. She was almost diagnosed failure to thrive at 12 months, but...
  7. My oldest boy is not a text book celiac either, and he is technically only gluten intolerant. His main symptoms from gluten are mood swings and depression and an inability to concentrate. He also has anger problems. He cries a lot and this drives my husband crazy, since he thinks 10 year old boys shouldn't cry. He almost never has GI comlaints from gluten...
  8. Congratulations Jen! I know it feels so wonderful to finally have confirmation of what you already know! That is how I felt when I got my Enterolab results back. Now it doesn't matter what anyone says, you know for sure what the problem has been all along. God bless, Mariann
  9. I tried Pastariso Vermicelli last night and it was gross! I got some accidently in one of my online orders, and I thought I'd try it. I'm glad I didn't have to spend money on it, because it was yuck. It stuck together even after cooking it the minimum amount of time and had this horrible bland taste that no one liked except my one son ate it with gluten...

    ARCHIVED Panda Express

My in-laws recently moved to a new town. We went to visit them for my FIL's birthday and he wanted chinese food. I was going to try to get the restaraunt to custom make some gluten-free dishes for us, but we ended up at Panda Express. I knew that there wasn't going to be anything for my kids and I to eat, but we went anyhow. The steamed rice was fine...
  11. I used to use Sensodyne before going gluten-free, now I use Tom's of Maine Sensitive toothpaste and I also find that I don't have to use it as often since my teeth have lost some of their sensitivity (I alternate with other Tom's of Maine varieties). I have never found any wheat ingredients in any of my other toiletries, or cleaners. The only thing...
  12. Thank you celiac3270 for taking the time to put this valuable information up where it will be easier to find. I don't think it sounds threatening at all. You did a wonderful job with it. I'm sure it will help a lot of people to understand how the board works. God bless, Mariann
  13. I agree with the others, I WOULD pay for a pill that would completely stop in it's tracks a gluten reaction from contamination! The amount I would be willing to pay would depend on how well it worked! And as I said before would like the option of preventing a reaction when eating away from home, but why would I need to buy pills to take daily just to eat...
  14. I'm not really concerned with one for myself, since I feel pretty much how Richard does. But I have considered getting one for my son who is gluten intolerant, plus has other things going on, but the bracelets just won't hold all of the info, so I've been looking into the new electronic ones that allow you to record as much medical info as you feel necessary...
  15. I second the recommendation of Danna Korn's book "Wheat Free, Worry Free" and I'll add "Dangerous Grains" by James Braly and Ron Hoggan. Both are very different and indespensible in any Celia/Gluten Intolerant persons library. You can get them at a lot of different places online, but I know that amazon .com sells them both and when you spend $25 or more...
  16. Cindy, try this with the Kinnikinnick bread, it comes out better this way: Keep it frozen until you need it. Take as much as you need out of the freezer and put pieces in a single layer on a plate. Microwave for about 30 seconds or until it is soft. It stays more moist this way and doesn't taste so dry. If you just thaw a couple pieces and make a snadwich...
  17. If you have been gluten-free for many years it would affect the results of stool testing through Enterolab (unless you were looking to check to make sure you are 100% gluten-free), but it would NOT affect the results of the gene test. For $150 you can find out if you have any of the lesser known gluten intolerance genes. You already know that you don't...
  18. You can (and generally should) double check with the company, but I am pretty sure it is still gluten-free. It is the only sauce I eat at home and have never had a reaction to it. God bless, Mariann
  19. Alexolua is correct. There is not much difference at all between the two. They both require lifelong adherence to the gluten free diet, and really the only medically recognised difference is that Celiac damages the intestines rather severely and is caused by different genes than those that have non-celiac gluten intolerance. Most doctors don't diagnose...
  20. I have them also. I spent the last few days feeling very dizzy, and after a while I start to get a sort of nausea (like motion sickness) from it. I used to think I was hypoglycemic, but was told I wasn't. I've gotten these for at least half my life, and still get them gluten-free. I seem to notice that around the time it happens I am not eating a very...
  21. I had a negative biopsy. I don't know if it was the fact that I had been gluten-free previously, and had not been back on gluten long enough to cause enough damage, or if the doctor didn't take samples from the right area, or if the lab wasn't skilled enough to recognise the early stages of damage, but what ever the cause of the negative biopsy I an so sick...
  22. My insurance wouldn't pay for Promethius labs for my kids when they were ordered by the pediatric GI and they cost $750 for the gene test (which has to be done with the antibody blood tests and automatically is performed if the antibody tests are negative). It costs about $150 at Enterolab ($350 for complete stool/gene panel), and is performed at a top genetics...
  23. Hi Debbie, I would also like to know where you got your information and "statistics". Not that I disagree with it, I just like to collect information and some of what you said, while I believe it is true, I have never seen in print anywhere. So if you know of a new source of info please point us in the right direction. I am gluten intolerant, and...
  24. Joanna, It could have been the brownie, but it also could have been something else he ate in the last 24-48 hours also. Not every person reacts immediately. It may have seemed to be the brownie, since that was the last thing he had, but look at his diet for the last few days also. If you still think it was the brownie, was it homemade, store bought...
  25. You can be allergic to wheat AND be gluten intolerant. They are different reactions in your body, one in the immune system and one in the digestive system. But regardless, if you tested positive in the past, and improved on the diet, then you are most likely gluten intolerant. Whether it is severe enough to be called Celiac disease doesn't really matter...
