  1. Maybe the ones we get are from a different place, but ours has on the pack that they are gluten free.
  2. My daughter is a gluten free vegan in a totally nut free school, and we have only 1 other with a gluten intolerance (she can eat low gluten foods, but her parents try to stay gluten free where possible, it just doesn't bother them if she has chips cooked in oil that is also used for cooking other gluten things whereas we have to stay away from that), one...
  3. I use golden syrup in place of eggs in cakes, but I made shortbread using just Nutellex (no dairy, gluten, soy, egg, nut), Orgran plain flour, CSR icing sugar and a little bit of vanilla essence.
  4. No idea what we'll have tonight, something that will feed 6 of us lol. I have 4 kids here tonight, and thinking chickpea curry (mild) with rice.
  5. I'm in Queensland, Australia, and have only come across O'brien's at Dan Murpheys and Coopers homebrew one which is widely available if you are into homebrew. I don't have time for that myself though.
  6. From everything I have read, and information from doctors and dieticians, there is really no harm in following a gluten free diet, which is why I decided to make the whole house gluten free instead of making different things for the 2 of us. On the other hand, gluten is not harmful to those who can tolerate it, and there is no sense in following a gluten...
  7. Not sure if it's sold everywhere, but O'Brien's beer is gluten free, and Coopers has a gluten free mix for homebrew. I don't make homebrew so not sure about the taste of the Coopers, but the O'brien's beer isn't too bad. It's a heavier beer than what I'm used to, I drink light or midstrength, but it tastes good. I wouldn't drive after drinking this beer...
  8. I didn't mention it because I wanted to know what people thought about annual testing, but I finally got onto the Coeliac Society and they said it's up to me, personal choice, if we had a mixed house it would be different, but we have a gluten free house, not a mixed house.
  9. My child has Autism, and finds it traumatic. I'm sorry you don't understand, but the doctor knows her well enough to have been able to make that call. She's known the family for a lot of years.
  10. My dog has been grain free since he was a little puppy, he had awful problems with food for a long time and I had him on liquid food for quite some time. He is 3 now, so there has been no issue with that. The cat food is not gluten-free, but I get around that by only feeding him in the laundry (mainly to avoid the dog eating it) and feed it to him in the...
  11. As mentioned, it varies. It hits my daughter after roughly 24 hours and she remains in bed for anywhere up to 3 days, if she walks she can't stand upright, so is hunched over to go to the loo then goes back to bed and stays curled up in a ball, she can't stretch out.
  12. Blood tests are highly traumatic, and if it isn't necessary like vaccinations then I would opt not to have it. We eat only certified gluten free things, and home grown fruit, veg and herbs, etc. She was not low on anything else, despite the paed being certain a vegan child would be low on iron and B12, and the couple of times she has eaten gluten (swapped...
  13. I've seen a vegetable pasta that contains corn, carrot, rice and potato. Not sure what it's called, we stick with San Remo because I know how to cook that one and I know everyone eats it.
  14. My daughter's paediatrician said to do a blood test after a year, it's been longer than that so at an appointment with the GP this morning for something else, I asked her about it. She said it's rediculous and she will not put her through the trauma of a blood test when there is nothing to be gained by it. What's everyone's opinion on that?
  15. My daughter has decided to make chocolate crackles using Freedom Foods Rice Puffs, cocoa from our local specialist store, shredded coconut and copha. It works out to cost us about $4/dozen and is a great one for kids to make, all I have to do is melt the copha for her, she can do the rest with supervision only. They taste like regular ones and all ingredients...
  16. We had a "potions" table, I can't even remember all the names of them now, but we had things like Vampire Blood which was just red cordial, and I found some sherbert too. I bought little cauldrons from the party shop in their halloween section, and used alcohol bottles that I got from Freecycle for the liquid. We have a softdrink maker so I made up some...
  17. My daughter started solids at 4 months, but nothing containing gluten until 9 months when she started having toast fingers, plain pasta and cereals for breakfast. Up until then she pretty much only had rice cereal, fruit or veges. She was breastfed still in conjunction with food until she was about 3-ish. My nephew is 15 months and is still breastfed,...
  18. When my daughter was diagnosed, we both went gluten-free because there's only the 2 of us in the house. She has started to gain weight and my weight has not been affected one little bit by it, why would it? It's not like cutting out sugar or carbs or fats or anything, the gluten free baking has just as much sugar in it as our regular ones used to, I just...
  19. So she is having a Harry Potter party and I found recipes for the food in the Harry Potter series. They can be made gluten free and vegan, except the licorice wands so working on a way to adapt.
  20. How do I change my username?
  21. We have coconut rough, mini pizzas, jelly cups, pumpkin pasties, melon balls on tooth picks. Of course since we are vego it will need to be fully gluten-free and vegan, but her friend has a nut allergy. We will have roughly 20 kids and 10 adults. She is having 2 cakes because of the theme. Most kids will be 7 to 9, with a couple of 1 to 3 year ods...
  22. Yesterday we made paint using White Wings cornflour, water and Hullaballoo food colouring. I made 1L of mixture then poured it into 170g baby food jars. After pouring it into the jars, the food colouring was added then shaken to mix it through. We made blue, yellow, green, red. Once paint was made, more cornflour was added to make it thicker and we had glue...
  23. I don't know what granola bars are, but I meant to say nut free and vegan as well as gluten free. (thought I said it, sorry)
  24. Warm stewed apple with So Good Bliss ice cream. It's winter, but we live in the tropics.
