ARCHIVED First Post! Some Questions
AVR1962 replied to pinkflowers's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome! In the blood work, do you know if they actually tested for Celiac? If they did not, they might want you to do that and you ahve to be eating glutens in order to have any chance for an accurate test. Heads up on all this testing though, is none of it is real accurate. You could easy have Celiac and test now and results comne back negative, retest... -
ARCHIVED Child Back In Hospital
AVR1962 replied to Mommy2GlutenFreeChild's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sorry to hear, this has to be hard for you both. I agree with your doc, it is probabaly nerve damage as far as his pains are concerned. If he is not absorbing enough nutrients it will effect many part of the body but one of them is nerves. B12 helps and there are homeopathic products on the market as well. Nose bleeds can mean a lack of vit K Open Original... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Here Live In Germany?
AVR1962 replied to AVR1962's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I hadn't checked this post in awhile. Good to see someone else here from Germany. I'm located more mid-country, about an hour from Frankfurt. We are here due to my husband's job position. You'd think after 10 years I'd know more German but we live in a very large American community which many of the Germans speak English so thre has not been much chance for... -

ARCHIVED I Really, Really Need Help, So Confused. :(
AVR1962 replied to confusedgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Unfortunately testing is not real dependable. You could go back on gluten, retest, results could go either way.....a year later try it again and result may go the opposite direction. You have the answer. Keep your health and save yourself the agony! -
ARCHIVED Looking For A Support Group
AVR1962 replied to jas308's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
To really give this a good test, I'll give you the advise my gastro gave me......go off glutens and dairy for two months. Gluten and dairy intolerance many times walk hand in hand because of the damage it does to the villa in the intestines. Once damaged you have to repair your system in order to tolerate dairy again. Read labels, go whole foods, natural... -
ARCHIVED Salicylate Sensitivity--Help?
AVR1962 replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This is all very confusing at first trying to figure which symptoms is linked to what, what is safe and what is not. I hear you loud and clear on that one. Here is a link that might help you relate the symptoms Open Original Shared Link jump down to the symptoms. -
ARCHIVED New And Stressed
AVR1962 replied to John6307's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome! Like you, my symptoms also were nuero and I was sent thru a battery of tests. At first it looked like something else and thought I was heading to surgery but then goping gluten-free changed everything. Good thing when I reflect is not only were they able to eliminate but in the process of testing they were able to link all the tests together and... -
Gluten reaction for me is 24 hours after consumption, and these are some of the symptoms.

Did your dizziness go away with your other symptoms? The brain fog will go away too, it just takes awhile.

Going off dairy is a very good idea for now while your body heals. Sound like you have some vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Cramps & spasms in the muscles indicate your magnesium, and possibly potassium, is low. Insomnia is also an indicator that your body isn't getting enough nutrients. More than likely the villa in the intestines is damaged and not...

ARCHIVED Salicylate Sensitivity--Help?
AVR1962 replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am also sensative to salicylates. By going off I felt better in just a few days. Personally, I was having an itching reaction.....no bumps, just itchy everywhere. What I did may or may not work for you, I do not think I am as sensative as some. I eliminated the high sal group plus canned green olives (something I was eating a bit of), olive oil (again eating... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Really Unwell!
AVR1962 replied to Sanaa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sanaa, the stomach issue sounds like GERD. You said you stomach felt like it was on fire. Eventhought you may have never had acid reflux issues before I would guess the acid in your stomach is causing your pain. You will need to go to steps to protect your stomach: take an antacid 30 minutes before a meal and you may have to supplement with Pepto inbetween... -
ARCHIVED How Bad Can Withdrawl Get?
AVR1962 replied to Applegirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Skincrawling.....does it feel like you have something under the skin that might be moving or hairs on top of the skins that are really not there? That is from a lack of vit D, numbness/tingling you described could easily be a B12 deficiency. Are you also having Charlie Horses, restless leg, or muscle spasms? Potassium and magnesium can help these. Fish... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance Supplement
AVR1962 replied to AVR1962's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I found, for me, it helped with the intestinal yuck stuff but it did not help me with the dizziness. For me, being dizzy is my biggest symptom when I get glutened. You do take it before eating gluten like you would a lactose aide. It may work different for different people and I definately would not see it as a solution or a reason to be able to eat glutens... -
ARCHIVED Desperately Sick Could This Be It?
AVR1962 replied to Applegirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Several things can make you itch and you will have to look at various things to figure it out. Take a look at 'high salicylate' foods. If this is what you are eatng, eliminate it for now. Caesins (dairy protein) can cause itching/hives. Look at your detergent, some scented detergents & fabric softeners cause problems. Check you lotion, they can also cause... -
ARCHIVED How Bad Can Withdrawl Get?
AVR1962 replied to Applegirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Did you get enough water? You really have to make sure of your water intake. Itchy is something I did not have in the detox phase but I did get it afterwards from eating tomatoes, cucumbers, green olives, raspberrries, zucchini.....which are all high salicylate foods. You can look that up easy enough and see if that could be a possible connection to the itching... -
Fluids w/o caffeine- juice, Gatorade, ginger ale, room temp water with lemon.....lemon will help settle the stomach. Honey if you have a dry throat, dry toast which is also settling to the stomach. Fruit to help restore your vitamins. Pain reliever, warm wash cloth to the head, and some extra sleep.

Yes, and they have been okayed by my doc. The vits you mentioned are a good start. And I have to apologize, I mentioned potato skins for more zinc intake, got my minerals mixed up. They have copper in them Open Original Shared Link Great food source as they also have magnesium, vit c, potassium and B6 which are all vits your body is probably really needing... -

AVR1962 replied to Applegirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Add some bananas into your diet and some zinc, good for your hair which you can get thru skins in potatoes if you don't wan tot take the supplement. You mentioned these bumps came and went and I had a lightbulb moment.....I had the same thing on my back. They itched, I thought they were moles. Went to GP and was told to set up with derm doc but by the time... -
ARCHIVED Recovery Tips Please?!
AVR1962 replied to GFH33's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, and again read labels as there is dairy in alot of things as well. Hard cheeses should be fine as the longer the aging process the more lactose goes out of the cheese but for now it might be worth trying. There are butters on the market that are lactose free. -
ARCHIVED Horrible Fatigue And Other Problems
AVR1962 replied to Austin Guy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Not a bad idea. I actually had a growth on my thyroid which was found during a scan.....I was having a very odd cough that I could not relate to anything, terrible time regulating body heat and would have to climb into bed under lots of blankets with socks on with flannels for hours to get warm. I would choke easily, swollowing was hard for soups, of all... -

AVR1962 replied to Applegirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You mentioned being dizyy and I just wanted to add that you might read about "axatia" and see if that sounds like what you are dealing with. I have it too and that has been the last symptom, along with vertigo, that I have yet to completely get rid of. I recently added copper into my diet as this is one thing that I have read can help. Right now I am taking... -

AVR1962 replied to Applegirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The tongue pic looks like you are having a reaction to something. I have family members who have these issue and theere is a whole list of fruits that have caused their issues, bananas and pears included. I have a grand daughter right now undergoing testing for what you showed in your pic, she ate a pear and this happened to her. It sounds like you really...
