  2. Hey! It's taken me over a month to get an appt w/ the nutritionist my dr recommended too. The nutritionist they referred me to is the daughter-in-law of one of the 2 doctors in the practice I go to. I hope she is Celiac educated but I admit I have been debating whether to cancel my appt too. I have to pay out of pocket as well. Although myy insurance...
  3. Thanks for all the good ideas. I tried to bake another loaf in the oven.....it didn't go so good. I gotta get a machine. Time to start a savings jar! HA!
  4. Hey Michelle! Yes, I saw the post in the thread where we're discussing the pill. I posted some there too. Thanks for passing on what you've come across. Amazing isn't it. Oh and I too LOVE tea tree oil.
  5. I just read something today about Irish and Celiac and that there is a connection. I went to post the article for you and now can't find it. If I come back across it i'll post.
  6. I've been trying to find more info about yeast infections and celiac as i'm very intrigued by this as well as curious now if this is why I too had the yeast infection from hell last week. I've had yeast infections on and off since I can remember but have been lucky (compared to those of you who've had the infection constantly, I couldn't imagine. WOW, my...
  7. Last summer (end of June) I went off Ortho Tri Cyclen....heavier periods w/ increased cramping and ZITS! I looked like a teen going through puberty. So I went back on the pill, Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo around Oct/Nov...I was having a period for 2 weeks at a time and even heavier bleeding and even more severe cramps. I then switched to Yasmin in Jan and since...
  8. I've been eating the plain ones by Quaker too w/ no problems.
  9. WOO-HOO! Thanks for sharing this. I'm still new to all this and learning the good from the bad so i'm excited b/c for me this is something "new" that is safe to eat! And just in time for the weekend! Whoopee!!
  10. I like to make my own "trail mix".....(i.e. peanuts, candy corn, dried fruits, nestle semi-sweet chocolate chips, sunflower seeds) Have a great time!!
  11. Thanks for the bread machine input. And I'll check out the Manna by Anna product line too. You guys are great!

  13. Okay...before I was dx w/ Celiac I took 2 chewable Flintstones everyday (per a nutritionist) b/c I am a whimp and can't swallow a typical "womens" daily vitamin b/c they are such horse pills. (yes, you're allowed to laugh at me ) Does anyone have any suggestions for either a decent tasting chewable vitamin or even a decent tasting liquid vitamin...
  14. No cheating here....I want to be healthy and that means NO gluten. My biggest issue since i'm still learning (diagnosed end of April 2005, started gluten-free diet May 1st) is "hidden" glutens. I see a nutritionist the first week of June so hope she can provide some more educational info and such. This site has been so helpful as well as supportive. ...
  15. I'm 2 days into being gluten-free myself. I haven't had any pain yet, but yesterday I was exhausted. So much so that I took today off from work, slept in and am now starting to feel better. If you want to keep in touch since we're both starting out at the same time, e-mail me at: turtledupree@hotmail.com (put something w/ gluten-free in the subject section...
  16. Thanks so much! Does anyone have a fav bread machine that they can recommend that mixes up our special potions well and bakes well? I keep reading that it's important to find a bread machine that can mix up our gluten-free flours well. But, there are so many bread machines out there and the research i've done on them all runs together at this point.
  17. Hi and thank you for the warm welcome! And thanks for overlooking my horrible spelling in that last post. I was in a hurry.....which seems to be the story of my life. I did have a chance to review quite a bit of the board. VERY helpful. Thank you to everyone who shares. I hope to return the favor as I begin my gluten-free life. I travel quite a...
  18. P.S. Please disregard all my bad spelling. HAHA!
  19. Hello - I'm Turtle! Was just diagnosed a week ago and in the process of learning the ropes. Slightly overwhelemed, mostly at just trying to clear ou the bead stuff in the kitchen and replace it with good stuff. I've been doing a ton of research and appreciate all the good info on this site. I'm relying on the forbidden foods list, etc. to get me started...
